00:00Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hit U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, March 4, accusing
00:06him of wanting to ruin the Canadian economy.
00:09The United States launched a trade war against Canada, their closest partner and ally, their
00:16closest friend.
00:18At the same time, they're talking about working positively with Russia, appeasing Vladimir
00:24Putin, a lying, murderous dictator.
00:30In retaliation, Trudeau announced 25% tariffs on C$30 billion worth of U.S. imports and
00:37could target another C$125 billion worth in 21 days.
00:59But on March 6, after a flurry of calls from car manufacturers, U.S. President Donald Trump
01:15says they will exempt automakers from his 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico for one month
01:21as long as they follow existing free trade rules.
01:24However, Trump made it clear that he is not ending his trade war with Canada and Mexico
01:28as he pressures both countries to stop fentanyl smuggling.
01:32This, despite a phone call with Trudeau where he had supposedly told the outgoing Canada's
01:37PM his efforts were not good enough.
01:39U.S. tariffs could hurt Canada's early economic recovery and possibly cause a recession.
01:46Canada depends on the U.S. for 75% of its exports and a third of its imports, making
01:51it vulnerable to a long trade war.
