00:00Just finally, for me, sad news this week about Geoff Taylor,
00:02someone who was part of it when you were here as a player.
00:05What can you say about him?
00:06Yes, a couple of pieces of bad news.
00:09I mean, the first one was obviously the ex-chairman, Reg Brearley.
00:11I was only a young player when I came back from Southampton.
00:16I was only 19.
00:17So, our line manager was Derek Dooley, bless him,
00:23who we used to go and see.
00:27So, I didn't really have any connection or contact with the chairman at the time,
00:32but he was our chairman and he made one of the best decisions
00:35that the club has ever made in terms of bringing Dave Bassett to the Football Club.
00:38And, you know, history speaks for itself in what Dave did for Sheffield United
00:44and how highly Dave is regarded.
00:47And then moving into that was Geoff, who was a great ally for Harry.
00:53And, you know, we all got on really well with him.
00:56He was a super coach.
00:59He was great for the young players.
01:02He pushed, but he pushed in the right way.
01:04His manner was fabulous.
01:06And the combination of Harry and Geoff was obviously formidable
01:11in those years at Sheffield United.
01:12And I kept in contact with Geoff when I left and when he left Sheffield United.
01:21But it's just... and all of the things that the boys have said.
01:25I know people have been on social media, ex-players have been on social media.
01:28And I echo all those thoughts regarding what they said and what they thought of Geoff.
01:33A proper football guy, but a great person as well.
01:37So, sadly missed.
01:39He gave it a go.
01:39Good innings, as they always say.
01:42So, he got everything out of his life,
01:45but I know his life was 95% built around football
01:51and he gave everything to the game.
01:53So, yes, sadly missed, but somebody that is fondly remembered at Sheffield United.
