00:00We're joined now by Paula from Paws New England with Ellie, our Pudge's Pals candidate today, if you will.
00:08Ellie, two years old, and Curtis is just falling in love as we speak.
00:13He is so sweet.
00:15So sweet. Knows tricks, knows how to sit, knows how to go down.
00:19He knows how to sit down. He knows how to, you can drop the leash and stay with weight and he'll wait.
00:24I'm not his foster mom. I picked him up first. She's done a great job.
00:27She's had him about a month.
00:30Get as close to that microphone as you can.
00:32Yes.
00:32Right there.
00:33Sorry.
00:34It's okay.
00:34She's had him about a month. She's done a lot of work with him. He's come a long way.
00:39He's very friendly.
00:41They say kids over five, just because he can be very rambunctious.
00:44He needs a house, very active.
00:46Someone likes to walk, hike a lot.
00:48He needs a lot of exposure.
00:50Like we said, we met him just about an hour ago and this is how sweet he is already.
00:56He is so sweet. And Curtis, you were saying that the day that you guys found him,
01:00he was going to be put down.
01:02Yeah. So this is why it's just so essential now more than ever.
01:05It's always essential to save the, I mean, these, they're far better than we will ever be.
01:10And that the paws of new England found that he was going to be put down.
01:16And the day he was set to be taken from the earth, they brought him here, found a foster family.
01:22And Ellie is now just any family that has kids over five
01:31would be very wise in reaching out and getting Ellie.
01:35He's two.
01:36He's two.
01:37He's an estimate.
01:38He was, he was a found as a stray, but he would be a home run for a family dog.
01:42He, you know, like I said, an active family.
01:44He's young.
01:44He's got a lot going to close.
01:46He's well behaved too, though.
01:47He's very well behaved.
01:47Not knowing anybody.
01:48Yeah.
01:50You know, and again, we're always looking for fosters and make Henry or Harry or bullet wants
01:55to temporary, you know, roommate for a little bit.
01:57There you go.
01:59I was told I had the authority to sign off on Greg and Lindsay getting lost.
02:02So maybe we can do that while they're in the air, but it is grown.
02:08Yes.
02:08So how big is he?
02:09How many?
02:10I think he's about 60 pounds.
02:11Maybe he is adorable and such has, has such a good demeanor too.
02:17And like I said, at two years old sits, lays down.
02:21Right.
02:21Wiki, you don't have a dog.
02:23No, no, no.
02:24Like the song says my dog days are over.
02:26Yeah.
02:27I had dogs for pretty much all of my kid's life and there are a lot of work, but when
02:32you have a dog like that, that's well behaved.
02:34That's like, that's a sign of a good dog and a dog that you can like, kind of, kind of
02:40teach, right.
02:40And stuff like that.
02:42Like he's not jumping on anybody or anything like that.
02:45And perfect time to get a dog.
02:46Winter almost over.
02:48You're going to have, you know, nicer weather going around.
02:51And how do they get in touch with you?
02:54Should one of our great listeners decide they want to begin the process of adopting Ellie?
02:58His full adoption, um, um, profiles on positively.com.
03:03And if you know that we have tons of dogs, we have puppies.
03:05I'm actually getting two foster puppies on Sunday.
03:08So, I mean, I can send you a picture of those as well.
03:11Um, but like I said, I've only, I'm not his foster mom.
03:15I just met him an hour ago and look how calm he is.
03:16Right.
03:17These are all strange people, strange places.
03:19He's been in a strange car.
03:20Imagine how he is.
03:21You give him a few days at your house, how good of a dog he's going to be.
03:23He just deserves the best.
03:25And where did he, where was he found?
03:26Texas.
03:27And how does that process go?
03:28So you get word that, how do you get from Ellie being on the precipice of not being
03:34here and then finding his way up to Boston area?
03:37We have partner foster homes down South.
03:40So what happens is basically a lot of people will see him on the street or they wander
03:44into their yard and they're like, they'll call our, our, our, our founders down there
03:48and say, we have this dog.
03:49Will you take more?
03:50Like, yes.
03:51Our, our director, Joanne, there's no, she will not, she will spend any amount of money
03:55to save a dog.
03:56I had a dog that had potential parvo, which you know, is usually deadly.
04:00And the cost was about $8,000.
04:02Like, I don't care.
04:03We're saving this puppy.
04:04Ended up being a false positive.
04:05So she was fine.
04:06But that's the type of rescue we are.
04:08We're all foster based.
04:09They're all foster homes.
04:11So you get, they all get attention and loving and they get to decompress before you take
04:15them home.
04:16I mean, I can't say enough about our, our program.
04:18It's wonderful.
04:19And I'm looking at the bio right now and you said house trained, which, you know, eliminates
04:24a lot of what people don't want to do after getting a dog.
04:28Curls up nicely in his crate.
04:29So crate trained as well and enjoys a crate at night.
04:33And his ideal adopter would take him with them on any adventure.
04:38Yes.
04:38So that's nice as well.
04:40A companion, if you will.
04:41Like he rode perfect.
04:42We, we, we were in the car for quite a bit with that traffic this morning and he was
04:46the perfect passenger.
04:46Yeah, that, there you go.
04:50He's been with these people for an hour and look at how chill he is.
04:53So the greatest gift you can give, especially a young family, responsibilities, someone
05:00as docile as Ellie.
05:01So go to paws of new england.com.
05:04Pawsnewengland.com.
05:05Paws New England.
05:06We'll put that on all of our socials.
05:07Yeah, it's already up on Twitch.
05:08Um, the, the link exact straight to Ellie, very easy to use.
05:12Um, so we'll make sure that goes up on all of our socials.
05:15And, uh, if you have a desire to be featured on the segment, we have a new email pudgies
05:22pals at gmail.com centrify centrally, uh, locate that Ellie loves it.
05:28Oh, are you going to send an email at pause?
05:32We try to, we, we try to match a dog perfectly to the family.
05:35We're not going to push a dog on you just because we want to get them out.
05:38We want to make sure it's a perfect fit.
05:39We always take our dogs back to, if something doesn't work out.
05:42So Paula, thank you so much for everything that you guys do.
05:48Uh, and please keep us, keep in touch with us to let us know if Ellie gets picked up.
05:52Oh, I will.
05:52I'll send you an email.
05:54I'm sure he will.
05:55Thank you so much.
