00:00You have a big, big new title, you know, head of basketball at the college.
00:08Yes.
00:09And it's a blessing, man, to be able to be the president of basketball and being able
00:16to organize this team, take it to the, because it's all about education, it's bigger than
00:19just basketball.
00:20Right.
00:21Right.
00:22I know that's something that you instilled in all your kids, you know.
00:24Yeah.
00:25But I got to ask, you know, what, what's the game plan?
00:28What's the, what's the master plan, you know, to, to take this team?
00:31Because I mean, you know, they're division one.
00:33Yeah.
00:34Division one, we're going to shine no matter what.
00:36We had a lot of great alumni come from them, like Ellen DeGeneres.
00:41Ellen DeGeneres went there?
00:42Yeah.
00:43Oh, wow.
00:44So there are a lot of billionaires that come from this school also, and it's all about
00:48education and they want to invest back into their education.
00:50So it's all about now bringing top players here.
00:52How do you see getting the big recruits?
00:55Because, you know, it's probably difficult.
00:58Yeah, I don't, I don't see that as a big problem, getting the big recruits and look at it, right.
01:02We after one right now, so we'll, we'll have the number one player, class of 2026, come
01:08down to visit.
01:09We just offered him a scholarship.
01:10Oh, you did?
01:11Yeah.
01:12But what's his name?
01:13What's his name?
01:14Byron Stokes.
01:15Oh, that's right.
01:16Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:17He's, he's like number one, number one.
01:18Number one player.
01:19You think you could work that out is the thing.
01:20Look, look, look all the big players that look at Stephen Curry, look at Damon Little.
01:25You want to go somewhere where you can play.
01:27Right, right, right.
01:28And people are going to see you.
01:29The NBA is going to find you.
01:30And New Orleans is a great place with a great city.
01:33We got a great alumni.
01:34We got a great coach.
01:36And so, you know what, the sky's the limit for us.
01:39Is there anyone that you're like looking at, like, hey, I could, I could model, I could
01:44model my moves after, you know, there's some great.
01:46So if you look at it, right, Deion Sanders opened the door, he did it in football and
01:51he did a great job.
01:53That's the gold.
01:54I salute him.
01:55And I'm like, what he was able to do, if I could do that in New Orleans on a basketball
02:00world and we talked a lot about this.
02:02And so this is my time to shine to not only just put the basketball team on the map, but
02:08also to bring more students to the school and to be able to mentor these kids.
02:12A lot of these kids have been through all types of things that I feel like me as a coach,
02:16me as a mentor, I can show them something else.
02:19And you, I mean, that's where you're from, you know, so like this is probably means so
02:22much to you.
02:23This is probably the most important job I ever had, that, that I could be a servant.
02:27I put my trust and faith in God and I'm about doing the right thing.
02:30Did you, you've talked to Deion?
02:31Yeah, I talked to Deion.
02:32So he met, he gave you some mentorship in a way?
02:34So I talked to Deion and I talked to Coach Samson at the University of Houston and he's
02:38focusing on winning this year.
02:39He said, you know, once the season over, we're going to get together.
02:42Well, well, that's interesting.
02:43You had the University of Houston because, I mean, and you said Deion, because I'm thinking
02:47like, you know what Deion did, he brought his sons along.
02:50Are you, are you going to do, are you going to bring, bring mercy?
02:53No, because I feel like I got the best coach in the world.
02:56So also Coach Samson is the goat and my son making his own name.
03:00He's on his own journey.
03:01So, you know, I'm going to let him do his journey.
03:05So you end up, no, no poaching, no, mercy.
03:07No, no, no, mercy, mercy, mercy is storing his own rights and that's the school he wanted
03:11to go to.
03:12And this opportunity for me is a blessing, but I'm going to take the kids that I have
03:17and I'm going to take them to the next level.
