00:00Servus from Tirol, my name is Henning Schaub and I'm the General Manager of Iriro Alpine Hide,
00:06which is a small hideaway of nine suites on the way to Zugspitz Mountain, the highest peak of the German Alps.
00:13We are a nature-inspired concept in the location of an old traditional alpine inn
00:20that actually was based here in the 1930s already.
00:25We've opened in August of last year, so it's six months of operations.
00:30Guests come to us to enjoy the concept and to really move away from technology
00:37and be with nature in an active or relaxing environment.
00:41Iriro is only accessible by gondola, as we are on 1550 meters,
00:47so guests travel up the mountain and get to immerse themselves with the beauty of the surrounding nature.
00:53The entire concept is very local and really an homage to Erwald, the first town after the German border here in Tirol.
01:01Consequently, the name Iriro means at the entrance to the forest, which is what we are looking to.
01:08There's local materials used everywhere.
01:11You look at local wood, recycled wood, sheep's wool, because Erwald has a tradition in sheep breeding.
01:18Also, our guests at arrival are gifted sheep wool socks to ground themselves and feel comfortable at home
01:24and moving around freely in this very small hideaway in the Alps.
01:29Likewise, our food is very much rooted in local traditions.
01:34We use a lot of traditional ways of preparing food, cooking on open fire, fermentation,
01:39and only working with regional and local suppliers and ingredients.
01:45So it's really like an homage to being with the mountain and endorsing the harshness of being the mountains,
01:51the contrast, but always rooting oneself back to nature.
01:55The spa at the hotel also really shows this concept very well.
02:00We work with local herbs and herbalists that we produce and manufacture massage oils
02:06and very intuitive treatments to enjoy and connect with nature.
02:10There's limited Wi-Fi access.
02:12We actually address to guests in what way they would like to be connected to everyday worries
02:19and what's going on in the world or just to really get away from it all.
02:24Consequently, the suites don't offer any TVs, but rather go back to board games, conversations,
02:31sitting by the fireplace and being within or with each other.
02:37So that's really the proposition of what Irido is with its nine suites here at Zugspitz Mountain in Tirol.
