00:29winning moments reactions from the star players of the indian cricket team as well as try and
00:34answer that question is it the best white ball team on the planet at the moment or not but we'll
00:40kick start our program with mr gavaskar say bye all that euphoria and i'm not talking about the
00:45team i'm talking about you with all the dancing and everything has it settled down is it feeling
00:49even sweeter the next day it is it is it is because look at the joy that uh rohit and his
00:54team have given all of us uh you know we are we are all fans of indian cricket and we are all
00:59wanting the team to do well and we also get disappointed when they don't do well which is
01:04you know because we because we know the talent that these guys have and of course we also having
01:09played the game know that luck can sometimes go against you sometimes the opposition is just a
01:14little bit better so we all know that uh so that's why this joy uh to see them win this uh the cup
01:20when they won it uh in in great style the semi and the finals with exactly what you would want
01:27you know going down to the wire because that's what you want really okay it was nervous a little
01:31bit uh you know you had your little moments of you know nail biting and stuff like that
01:36but wonderful absolutely wonderful and thank you to rohit and his team for giving us this wonderful
01:42moment to cherish you know moments to cherish to see what you've done the joy that you've given to
01:47so many indian cricket followers not just in india but all over the world thank you so much
01:51how many uh whatsapp messages have you received of your clip that has gone viral of you instinctively
01:57dancing when rohit was lifting the trophy yes i think when rohit got the trophy and i think the
02:01emotion got the better of me at that stage uh like i like i said uh you know look i you know
02:08i'm what i am because of indian cricket uh i started watching cricket as a little kid because
02:13of all you know my uncle madhav mantri uh being a former india player my my parents also encouraged
02:20me my father was a club cricketer he took me to all the club matches that's how my interest in
02:24the game grew i grew up watching at the brabham stadium then at the at the maidans all the all
02:29the stars in mumbai uh you know the the manjrekas the vadekas ramakandesai dilip sardesai you name
02:35it and then and then late farrukh engineers and nari contractor and then then you know seeing the
02:41other like jaisima my hero uh tiger patodi all these guys salim durrani uh and so the the you
02:47know just the kid in me just wanted to you know you know play a bit of cricket and if i could play
02:52if i could maybe be with them was amazing i mean i got that opportunity when i played for india to
02:57be with my hero to play in the same team as my hero and then with salim uncle who was you know
03:02probably the most generous of all indian cricketers you know it was just wonderful
03:07and okay i had the good fortune thanks thanks to god uh to be able to play for for india
03:14after that also i love indian cricket and that therefore to see these youngsters
03:20do well uh you know like any elder in the family you know you feel very proud of what they achieve
03:26so that's exactly i'm feeling so proud of these young guys of having achieved so much for india
03:31right it is amazing to listen to that because it's the passing of the patent he talks about
03:36you know his uncle madhav mantri salim durrani jayasima uh you have the generation of sachin
03:41tendulkar talk about the kapil devs and the sunil gavaskars and of course the current generation
03:46talks about uh sachin tendulkar or a virinder sevag or a sort of ganguly it just passes on the
03:51success keeps coming started from 83 the first icc trophy and now we are in 2025 with the seventh
03:58icc trophy so i was talking about those moments and it happened all instinctively let's try and
04:03relive those moments you of course would have been watching it on tv mr gavaskar was lucky
04:08enough to be on the ground so we're reliving those uh winning moments the winning shot the
04:12celebration that followed and all the heartfelt reactions that came from the players right after
04:17india won the champions trophy this is an iconic moment this is this is sunil gavaskar for those
04:26of you who are uh what do we say gen z you might be watching you don't know what this man means to
04:31international cricket not just indian cricket he was a pioneer the first of many records
04:36that was achieved now you see him as an extraordinary broadcaster but to lead it
04:45and that's going away into the fence when ravindra jadeja sent the ball across the road
04:50an entire nation came together to celebrate champions it was india's hour of glory
04:59the men who worked tirelessly for it sang
05:03danced and embraced each other to celebrate their collective success
05:15back home within minutes the streets were filled with legions of cricket loving fans
05:29so
05:34in our studios too two absolute legends of the game danced their hearts out
05:50in dubai setting the tone for the big party were ashdeep jadeja and harshid who recreated
05:56virat kohli's famous gangnam style moves even the players who didn't play the game played
06:01their part you knew that if india got set in that first 10 overs it would mean but this time
06:07virat kohli wanted to play a bit of dandiya that's precisely what he did and as a leader
06:13was able to do that for his team then reminded everyone how good he really is with his footwork
06:27the coach too despite his reserved disposition was dragged into the celebrations
06:48adorning the famous white jacket the indian players are finally tasting the success
06:53they were always touted too as the country rejoices yet another golden chapter in its
06:59cricketing history sports bureau india today
07:09okay heartwarming scenes those witnessed at the dubai international stadium with me
07:14is mr gavaskar today of course is also the anniversary of the 1985 benson and hedges
07:21triumph that came under the leadership of mr gavaskar in fact sahiba i was thinking
07:26uh does that win compared to this i know i'm not comparing world cup to world cup
07:30that was in a sense a mini world cup this many call it a mini world cup quite similar
07:35quite similar because you had the test teams over there in that in that competition
07:39all the test playing nations at that stage uh limited overs cricket was relatively new
07:45it wasn't new but it was relatively new it had only been there about 10 12 years
07:50so yes i think therefore it was a very special win it was just a fantastic uh you know end to my
07:58captaincy career that was the the evening today for example 40 years ago after we won i said i
08:05was you know i i just thanked my teammates for giving me such a wonderful present on my last day
08:10as the captain of the indian cricket team and so therefore i think it was it was really a memorable
08:15occasion having one of the the tournament beating all the teams quite comfortably winning every
08:21single game comfortably dismissing everybody excepting pakistan in the final and pakistan
08:27in the final we took nine wickets yeah we did that was also quite similar all the top teams
08:32playing no easy games and quite similar here in the champions trophy as well now to the tougher
08:37question the one memory i have of that final special especially was ravi shastri winning
08:43the audi car and then driving around the boundary line and my question to you is if there was a
08:48similar prize in this tournament who would have you given it to yes uh it's a tough one because
08:55we had about three or four contenders from our team itself we had a kapil dev was there we had
09:01krishnamachari srikant who had done well we had laxman shivram krishnan who had bowled brilliantly
09:06so and sadhana and vishwanath who you know kept wickets so well was always you know the the spirit
09:12that was lifting the team up when there was a little bit of a partnership we were the one who
09:15was egging everybody on so there were so many contenders so here same here this time yeah oh
09:22same here i mean there's varun chakravarti kohli virat kohli uh there is a shreya sahiya for the
09:27way he batted akshar patel for the way he bowled and batted and fielded as well ravinder jadeja
09:32the way he bowled and also rohit sharma for the captaincy so so many uh and and uh i i would not
09:41like to make a make a choice here i would just like to say you know well done to everybody in
09:46the team and just like you know we for us whoever won we wanted an indian to win yeah because there
09:53were a couple of you know contenders from pakistan as well i think mudassar nazar was a contender we
09:58wanted an indian to win and that's what happened by getting the the car the champion of champion
10:04what a title the champion of champion it's a really memorable title uh and so i think over
10:10here as well you have to answer my question you have the keys to that car you have to give it to
10:15somebody you have the keys listen i'm an old-fashioned opening bat when there's a good
10:19ball around the off stump and it's moving away i shoulder arms and i let it go okay that just
10:24tells you how tough it is to really pick that because usually when i pin mr gavaskar down he
10:28has an answer for us and he answers it straight up this time he's finding it very difficult that's
10:33because uh those many people have contributed to india's win i forgot k l raul as well yes yeah i
10:38mean in the names that i mentioned k l raul did brilliantly yeah in the last two games so many i
10:44mean that's there you are bowling batting you know everything you just name it okay um now that
10:50you've you know seen that this bunch multiple match winners uh and now you're not going to have
10:55too much of one day cricket what do you see the future of the indian odi team is this a good
11:00enough bunch to continue uh because we now heard it from the the senior players they've all said
11:06ravindra jadeja we heard from rohit sharma you heard from that they retirement's not on their
11:10mind they want to continue playing they want to enjoy their success what do you see the future
11:14of this odi team you continue with this bunch going forward for the next two years that is
11:18going to be that's going to be the real question for the selection committee because they have to
11:22take into account that you know do these people look they are good enough players and and the
11:29experience will be handy when you have you know players with that many matches under their belt
11:34that much of success that many man of the matches a player of the series awards under the belt that
11:39is incredible no not not too many teams will be will be able to have that but also you want to
11:45blood a few youngsters so how they do that is going to be the key for the for the selection
11:49committee what would you do i would i would i would do it gradually okay i would do it gradually
11:54not not at one go you know just move around a little bit here and there so that there are
11:59youngsters who in case of an injury somebody gets up in the morning and has a little bit of a tummy
12:04or pulls a muscle in the morning there must be somebody ready to take over immediately something
12:09like that any youngsters you have in mind who you would want to draft into the odi for example
12:16i would also uh have a look at rishabh who did that i don't get to play in this in this
12:21entire tournament he's got age on his side he's got youth on his side he's got tremendous ability
12:28on his side so so you know i mean there are so many options but these two are the names that
12:33come straight to mind okay the point that we're discussing here is what should be the future of
12:38this indian odi team in particular but at the moment if you were to combine white ball success
12:44over t20 cricket and odi cricket as well you won two titles you reach the final of the third big
12:50title in the 2023 50 over world cup so the question is and this is what everyone is discussing is it
12:56the best white ball team on the planet we try and dwell with that question
13:04rohit and his men sent bags full of happiness from dubai
13:08to the millions cheering for them in india
13:16in the space of nine months india won their second consecutive icc title
13:22the monkey was off the back in 2024 the dominance continued in 2025
13:34the indian team has unleashed themselves with their ruthless brand
13:38of white ball cricket under the captaincy of rohit sharma
13:42rohit sharma
13:49the hitman has done the heavy lifting both as a captain and then as a batter
13:55in terms of setting the attacking template as a top order batter
14:01and with the presence of virat kohli shreyas aiyar hardik pandya and ravindra jadeja
14:06india's depth is a desire for several teams
14:11i think this is the best betting lineup that i've been part of personally
14:16rohit bhai and virat bhai i think all time one day grades in the world
14:22rohit bhai one of the best openers in white ball and virat bhai
14:28one of the best odi batsmen ever
14:36for me
14:47in the last three icc events india have lost just one match out of 24 matches
14:54the only match they lost was the odi world cup final
15:00but staying unbeaten in the next two icc tournaments spells pure domination
15:07stifling the runs boosted with genuine match winners india have dominated opponents
15:14with clinical aggression and calculated approach
15:26and now the champions trophy without a question they have to be the best white ball team on the
15:32no doubt whatsoever
15:52one game that shows the depth in their cricket that showed the leadership
15:57winning an icc trophy is tough winning two in nine months even tougher rohit's team
16:06are on course to achieve greatness that is unseen and unheard of in indian cricket
16:15sports bureau india today at 75 percent of its potential
16:21okay we saw all those factors that have been working in india's favor
16:25if i was to ask you what is that one factor that makes this white ball indian team better than the
16:32rest one or two you could pick i think i think all around the all-around strength all-around
16:39strength and the the captaincy these are the two factors that makes this team the best best
16:44white ball team on in the world at the moment no question about it it is it all-around strength
16:51means you know batting is there bowling is there fielding is there but all that needs a little bit
16:55of direction and the captain gives it the direction so the captaincy becomes a very very
16:59important factor now is the tough bit india's got seven icc titles four of them in the 50 over
17:06format 60 over if i could add you know from 83 so the one day format out of the four if you had to
17:12make a combined dream team a dream india team in the one day format what's your team looking like
17:19well you asked me to name a dream team with my eyes open that's a little bit difficult
17:25so it's very very difficult uh i've never wanted to be a selector anytime and in all this is just
17:33just a little bit of a you know headache because you're going to get probably
17:37as usual get criticized for you know dropping some or picking some but i'll take a chance and
17:42you know i mean you want me to run you through my level and that's quickly so i've got sachin
17:48rohit sharma to open virat at three jimmy paji at number four yuvraj singh at five ms at six
17:54kapil dev at seven uh ravinder jreja at eight harbhajan singh is my spinner at nine shami and
17:59zaheeram are two fast bowlers and of course kapil bhaji is there as a third fast bowler yeah this
18:03is a very good team yeah i think this is this is an excellent team no but you have to pick yours
18:09you can make changes no no this is this is the team that i would all go for and i would have
18:15two more in the in this is 11 that you're talking about yes but i would also include two or three
18:20more people in the 15 so you know depending on conditions etc one is saurav ganguly because he
18:26was a fantastic opening bat and there's another opening bat called virendra saiva yes so i would
18:31have you know these two also in the list so that would make it 13 maybe uh get uh i'll tell you a
18:39few names that i was confused with i was thinking of chika as well at one point you know at a good
18:44final at the 83 others roger binny who had the most wickets in the 83 uh there was ashwin who
18:50was part of the 2011 world cup just a lot of names that were coming uh through my head but then you
18:55could only fit it yeah so that would be that would be this would be my this would be the 13 that i
19:00would definitely uh look at okay so please count that as mr gavaskar's 11 and not mine i just
19:06went through the names i'm repeating mr gavaskar's 11 it'll be sachin rohit virat jimmy amarnath uv
19:13ms dhoni kapil dev ravindra jreja harbhajan singh shami and zaheer are the two fast bowlers i went
19:19with also took into consideration shami's performance in the 2023 world cup i mean of
19:23course you didn't win it but over the 50 over uh format yeah i'm afraid that's all the time that
19:28we have with mr gavaskar it's always been a pleasure having him throughout uh the tournament
19:33same way before we go one memory you're going to carry from here from the entire tournament doesn't
19:37have to be the winning of the thing it could be a wicket it could be a catch it could be one
19:42short one memory that you're going to carry i think i think for me the one memory would be you
19:48know the the shot that uh hardik pandya played when he just slapped the the fast bowler flat down
19:56for a boundary it was an incredible shot because you know the way he uh you know did that and then
20:01the second one was when he hit that second six straight in of i think zampa yes which took
20:07australia totally out of the game in the semi-final i think those are the two shots that
20:12for me you know memory because that time you know it was like touch and go kind of situation
20:15earlier matches india won comfortably these were the two tough games so that straight six is what
20:22on that perfect note uh it's time to wrap up our coverage from here
20:26in dubai i hope you enjoyed our coverage as much as we enjoyed it bringing to you
20:30this is mr garbuska nikhil naaz signing off from dubai for one final time
20:34news and updates continue on the other side of the spring
