King Charles talks Bob Marley and Raye on 'The King's Music Room'

Bob Marley, Raye and Kylie Minogue are among the musicians that Britain’s King Charles selected for his new soundtrack — “The King’s Music Room.”

As part of the celebrations for Commonwealth Day on Monday (March 10), Charles revealed a playlist of 17 songs from Commonwealth artists which he said had brought him joy, were significant to him or made him want to dance.

''The King's Music Room,'' which is being aired on Apple Music's global radio stations, features artists including Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley, Canadian jazz singer Michael Buble, Australian pop star Kylie Minogue, US singer-songwriter Beyonce and UK Brit Award winner Raye.

00:00You've just heard the King's Guard playing Could You Be Loved by the late Bob Marley.
00:13I always recall his words, the people have a voice inside of them.
00:18He gave the world that voice in a way that no one who heard can ever forget.
00:23I was particularly pleased to meet Ray when I visited Battersea Power Station in December
00:29to see how my Prince's Trust, now renamed the King's Trust, continues to help young
00:36people very nearly half a century since I first founded it.
00:41Anyone who saw Ray perform at the Grammy Awards will know that she is a great ambassador for
00:47British music.
01:09Kylie Minogue came to St James' Palace to perform this song in 2012 in advance of the
01:15Diamond Jubilee visit to Australia.
01:18We had a large reception for Australians in the United Kingdom and as Kylie is an ambassador
01:25for my now King's Trust, she very generously agreed to come and perform.
01:30The song is The Locomotion and this is music for dancing.
01:35Again, it has that infectious energy which makes it, I find, incredibly hard to sit still.
01:51This very last song is one of my particular favourites.
01:55It is Upside Down by Diana Ross.
01:58When I was much younger, it was impossible not to get up and dance when it was played
02:04and I wonder if I can still just manage it.
