00:21Former President Rodrigo Duterte is now under the custody of the authorities after Interpol Manila received the warrant of arrest from the International Criminal Court earlier.

00:34According to the police, Interpol Manila received the official copy of the warrant of arrest from the International Criminal Court against the former president earlier this morning.

00:45This is related to the crime against humanity that Duterte is facing because of the bloody fight against the illegal drugs of his administration while he was sitting as president.

00:56And extrajudicial killings here in Davao City when he was still a mayor.

01:02The Prosecutor General of the ICC issued a notification for the arrest warrant to the former president.

01:08Meanwhile, the members of the national police carried out the warrant and were assured that they have a body camera.

01:15Former President Duterte is now under the custody of the authorities.

01:19Malacanang assured that he is in good health and that his companions are also in good health.

01:25In 2019, the Philippines completely withdrew from the ICC.

01:29But first, Palacio said that the country has an obligation to Interpol.

01:34As a member of the ICC, the Philippines has an obligation to prosecute and, according to the law, to arrest individuals who have a red notice from Interpol,

01:44which serves as an international alert for individuals who have a case and are wanted by other countries.

01:51While the ICC was the first to declare that even if the government of the Philippines withdrew from the judgment,

01:57it still has a jurisdiction over the crimes committed while the country is still a member.

02:03Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile clarified that the government of the Philippines should or should not blame Duterte's cases.
