00:00There's still days of recovery ahead here in Harvey Bay after 200 millimetres of rain
00:09fell on the town in just under two hours. Recovery efforts are continuing. Like behind
00:15me, crews are continuing to pump water from underground car parks. Although some residents
00:21in apartment buildings haven't been allowed to stay in their unscathed units due to flood
00:26damage to electrical switchboards. For others, finding a home just became even more difficult
00:33after renters were told by their landlords they were being essentially evicted so emergency
00:38repairs could take place. That's the news some of Jenny Grimshaw's neighbours returned
00:44to. Some of them are completely devastated, those that have lost their, they have nowhere
00:50to go, rents here are just way out of the price range usually for a single person, quite
00:57a few are single ladies and yeah for them the future just looks very scary and it was
01:05very emotional, some of them lost really precious things like photos and you know knick knacks
01:12and things that they didn't have time to get it up. Australian Defence Force personnel
01:16will remain on the ground today, clearing damaged infrastructure, helping out at flood
01:21damaged schools and conducting welfare checks. A community recovery hub is opening at the
01:27Harvey Bay Library today, offering multi-agency support and advice including for personal
01:34hardship grants.
