00:00Carney is going to focus on economic policy. It's clear. That's his expertise. It is really
00:05the central preoccupation of Canadians now, is the cost of living. And of course, this
00:10is going to get even more acute an issue if the tariffs come on, the tariffs that Donald
00:17Trump is threatening. If they're imposed upon Canada, then obviously we can, we're in the
00:22prospect, people say, depending on how long this goes on, we face the real prospect of
00:26a recession.
00:27What we really do need is a kind of a coherent strategy to make us less dependent upon the
00:33U.S., but at the same time, because we're geographically so close and we're so dependent
00:38on that market, we have to also think about having a continuing kind of relationship with
00:45the U.S.
00:46His acceptance speech yesterday, he made it very clear that he will not deter from the
00:52existing Trudeau line, which is that, you know, we're going to fight back, you know,
00:56that we have to fight back with these counter-terrorists.
