00:00The local government of Cebu City is going to fight against blast fishing.

00:05This is after the dam that is currently being built under the rehabilitation and killing of many fish was destroyed.

00:13Nina Oliverio of PTD Cebu in the center of the news.

00:19This is what the group of fishermen in Cebu City, Camacaranlang,

00:24came across to get the sediment traps in this place.

00:27This is part of a study conducted by marine biologists of Cebu Technological University,

00:33but the dam and the dead fish were the ones who attacked them.

00:37Around 6 a.m. on Saturday morning,

00:39homemade explosives used in blast fishing

00:44that are not yet considered as fish traps,

00:46were fired at the four boats that were immediately escaped by the maritime police.

00:50They fired at the boats four times,

00:52with a 40-minute interval in which the fish were caught

00:57and used by the compressor and hose to get the fish that drowned under the sea.

01:03The damaged reef has been under rehabilitation since 2020.

01:14If you look closely, the fish are still alive.

01:18That's because their internal organs have already ruptured,

01:20including its air bladders.

02:13So that we can have a task force that is inter-LJU.

02:17If there are concerns regarding dynamite fishing or illegal fishing,

02:21it will be tackled by that task force.

02:24At the moment, BATAY DAGAT is cooperating with the local fishermen

02:28who witnessed the incident of the fishing nets being stolen.
