00:47former President Rodrigo Duterte.
00:50SC Spokesperson Camille Sue May Ting says in a statement, quote,
00:53After a virtual deliberation on the 94-page petition, the SC found that the petitioners
00:59failed to establish a clear and unmistakable right for the immediate issuance of a TRO.
01:04However, the SC still orders Senator Ronald de la Rosa and the Philippine government to
01:08comment on the petition within 10 days.
01:11The petition was filed by de la Rosa on Tuesday right after the arrest of Duterte.
01:16De la Rosa filed the petition for certiorari and prohibition to question Duterte's arrest
01:20under an ICC warrant.
01:22His camp also asked for the TRO, or Writ of Preliminary, Prohibitory, and Mandatory injunction
01:28that could have blocked the arrest.
01:30Meantime, the Commission on Elections says Duterte is still part of the Davao City mayoral
01:34race even though he was flown to the ICC in the Netherlands on Tuesday, March 11.
01:39Comelec Chairman George Garcia clarifies,
01:42There must be a final judgment of conviction for Duterte to be removed from the race.
01:48Kitty Duterte, daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte, files a Writ of Habeas Corpus
01:52petition with the Supreme Court seeking the return of her father, who was arrested and
01:56sent to the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands for crimes against humanity.
02:01She is represented by Duterte's former Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo,
02:06along with Panelo's son, Salvador Paulo Jr.
02:09In the petition, Kitty asked the High Court to pressure the government to return the former
02:12president to the country.
02:14Duterte was flown to The Hague just after 11pm on Tuesday, March 11, after waiting
02:42at Villamor Air Base for over 10 hours for his flight.

03:07Rodrigo Duterte had arrived at 9.20am from Hong Kong on Tuesday, March 11, at the Ninoy
03:12Aquino International Airport.
03:14He was read his Miranda rights in the tube and brought to Villamor Air Base in a vehicle.
03:19From Villamor, Duterte boarded a chartered plane to The Hague.
03:22In an earlier statement, the vice president called her father's arrest, quote, oppression
03:26and persecution, saying he was denied his fundamental rights.
03:33President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in a press conference on late Tuesday night, March 11,
03:37defends the Philippines' decision to facilitate the handover of former President Rodrigo Duterte
03:42to the International Criminal Court, saying his arrest was done in compliance with our
03:46commitments to Interpol.
03:48Interpol asked for help and we obliged because we have commitments to the Interpol which
03:55we have to fulfill.
03:57If we don't do that, they will no longer help us with other cases involving Filipino
04:05fugitives abroad.
04:07Marcos adds this was what the international community expected from the Philippines as
04:11a democratic country and a member of the global community.
04:14He also says the Philippines followed every single necessary procedure in serving the
04:18warrant and the decision to arrest Duterte and sending him to The Hague does not violate
04:22Philippine sovereignty.
04:23The president also denies that politics played a role in the decision to arrest his predecessor.
04:30The Kremlin says it is awaiting details from Washington about a proposal for a 30-day ceasefire
04:34in Ukraine.
04:36The United States agreed on Tuesday to resume weapons, supplies and intelligence sharing
04:40after Kyiv said at talks in Saudi Arabia that it was ready to support a ceasefire proposal.
04:45The Kremlin says it is carefully studying the results of the meeting.
04:48Reuters reported in November that Russian President Vladimir Putin was ready to negotiate
04:52a deal with U.S. President Donald Trump but would refuse to make major territorial concessions
04:57and would insist Kyiv abandon ambitions to join NATO.
05:00U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the United States was hoping for a positive response
05:05and that if the answer was no, then it would tell Washington a lot about the Kremlin's
05:09true intentions.
