00:00I mentioned the New York Times this morning and reports, articles on the economy, and
00:07so I took a quick look to see if I could find the column that he was referring to, though
00:12I couldn't find it, I did find this on page B2, headline, Stocks Decline Further as Investors
00:20Struggle to Make Sense of Trump's Latest Tariff Talk.
00:25The article says, Markets Whipsawed on Tuesday as Investors Puzzled Through President Trump's
00:31Commitment to Tariffs with Stocks Dropping in Early Trading Before Recovering Late in
00:36the Day.
00:37The S&P 500 Index fell 1.5% at its low point before recovering some ground and ending the
00:43day 0.8% lower.
00:47Same page, B2, Business Confidence Falls as Uncertainty Sets In.
00:52The confidence level of small businesses dropped for a third straight month in February,
00:57wiping away much of the gains notched in the aftermath of President Trump's election victory.
01:02I don't think the Trump plan for this economy is all that clear and it appears that the
01:08writers of the New York Times agree.
01:11Many people in the business community are puzzled, some are alarmed by the tariff talk
01:15of this administration and the zigzagging approach to the economy.
01:20So I would say at this moment the jury is still out and sending messages to the court
01:27that they're dubious about this policy at all.
01:30If you have any question in your own mind, I suggest you start with your farmers and
01:34your state and ask them what they think of this tariff policy.
01:38I've been meeting with them over the last several days and they're very skeptical to
01:42say the least.
