00:00Well done with Enrique, well done Vitinha, well done Joao Neves.
00:03They said that we're going to go to Anfield and play our game
00:06and try to win the way we know how to play.
00:09In the second half of the extra time, there was only one team on the field.
00:12It was Paris Saint-Germain.
00:13They were all trying to win.
00:15Every single player in there, you could see Liverpool was starting to be scared.
00:19And to do that to Liverpool, the best team in the Premier League,
00:24to make them look, after maybe 15 minutes into the game,
00:27I won't say average.
00:28But in Paris, definitely they were average.
00:31Today was more of a game.
00:33But I didn't know what was going to happen.
00:36Well, one thing I knew is Donnarumma is good on penalties.
00:39How good is Nuno Mendes?
00:41No, Nuno Mendes was outstanding.
00:43But this guy, I'm sorry, Vitinha, plays a different sport.
00:47It's not the same football.
00:50You know, when you control the tempo and the rhythm of the game,
00:52that has to count for something.
00:53People always talk about people that can do stepovers and stuff like that
00:57and win the game, and I understand that.
00:58But Vitinha, the way he controls the game and defends,
01:02and it's a different sport.
01:05This is Barcelona's style of playing, Vitinha.
01:08It's a different sport.
01:09João Neves, Nuno Mendes, Pacho at the back,
01:12they were all outstanding.
01:14Hakimi, wow, wow, wow.
01:16I'm so happy for French football, so happy for Nacer.
01:19I don't know so much Luis Enrique, but look,
01:22personally, I mentor, wow.
01:25The way he put that team together,
01:27and we all know sometimes talent is not enough.
01:32You need to have a team that's willing to play well off and on the ball.
01:35And Paris Saint-Germain, wow.
01:38How hard is it to be Darwin Nunez or Curtis Jones tonight?
01:42Yeah, it is tough.
01:43I always say to people, look, you said that you wanted to take it.
01:47I will respect you always.
01:49Because to go there and take it, you have my respect.
01:55You're going to miss some.
01:56That's how it is.
01:57Donnarumma gets the right side twice and save it.
02:02But look, you know, for French football, it's just outstanding
02:06because you always say that Paris Saint-Germain do not get tested in the league.
02:12And when you go to the Arsenal game at the beginning of the season,
02:15and now Paris Saint-Germain performed.
02:18To that, you have to give Luis Enrique a lot of credit
02:21because he wasn't definitely the same team
02:23and how they have improved is outstanding.
02:27Defensively, midfield, everything.
02:29They've got a proper team there.
02:31And yeah, obviously for Jamie, I'm disappointed.
02:35But for football, the best team won.
02:37Yeah, I guess maybe not surprisingly, Donnarumma is man of the match.
02:42In Italy, back at home, Christian, how is he rated?
02:45Because obviously the Italian footballing nation
02:47has a great history of goalkeepers.
02:50Gigi Buffon, Dino Zagla.
02:51He's a phenomenal goalkeeper.
02:53I was talking with Thierry before.
02:55Maybe in Paris, he has a little bit of problems,
02:58but he's a good goalkeeper.
02:59And in the penalty shootouts, he's very good.
03:02Like Thierry said before, he played two amazing games.
03:06If you can have 9, 10 chances against Liverpool,
03:10and Liverpool is the best team in the Premier League,
03:13you can have a lot of chances at Anfield Road.
03:17Of course, they're going to have chances too
03:18because they're playing at home like they did.
03:21But like Thierry said, and like you said, PSG is a team now.
03:28It's not just like the two strikers, three strikers up front.
03:31There are an amazing team, defence-wise, goalkeeper-wise,
03:36midfield and up front.
03:37So they play as a team.
03:38And if you play as a team, you can win trophies.
03:42Oh, you're predicting them in the final.
03:45Yes.
03:48No, I said the final.
03:50I'm not Harry Potter.
03:54We're going to go to a break, everybody.
03:56We'll be right back, breaking down all of the action.
03:58Just in general, it must feel a little bit bitter, doesn't it,
04:00for Liverpool, the fact that they were even facing PSG.
04:03They finished top of the league phase.
04:04Supposedly, there should be a reward for that,
04:06and your reward is a very informed PSG.
04:09It didn't quite play out the way that Liverpool would have hoped.
04:12No, I mean, when we saw the draw, it was tough, wasn't it?
04:15But it's the way the format is.
04:18Liverpool going into it, I think,
04:20the top of the Premier League, we're playing well.
04:22We were able to adapt from under-the-clock era
04:25in terms of being a high-pressing team
04:27into more a comfortable team,
04:29and you have more of a balance
04:31in the way they want to approach the game.
04:33But yeah, it's a tough draw when you see PSG.
04:36And if you look at PSG earlier on in the competition,
04:38they weren't playing that well.
04:40They just faced them at the wrong time.
04:41We said we're buying.
04:42I thought we're buying as well.
04:44We see their result tonight.
04:45They've not been playing well all competition.
04:47They step it up at the last minute.
04:49In football, it's all about timing,
04:51and they've got the timing right.
04:52And unfortunately, Liverpool were in the way.
04:54We're going to send you, or we're going to take you out
04:56to Anfield even because we sent Jamie Carragher there tonight.
04:59Jamie, none of us really know what to say.
05:03Well, I mean, I'm pretty much the same at the moment, really.
05:06A bit deflated, but listen, the best team won, PSG.
05:09You know, we've seen how they performed in the first leg.
05:11It was, I called it a robbery to make it 1-0.
05:14And I think in this game, in the first sort of 20 minutes,
05:17half an hour, I felt that Liverpool were, you know,
05:19just going to go on and win this game.
05:20Actually, comfortably, I felt.
05:21And they just couldn't get that goal early on.
05:23Had two or three chances.
05:24Then when PSG get that goal, and then for the rest of the game,
05:27it felt like nip and tuck, really.
05:30But then the next time, it just felt like PSG, to me,
05:32just took over.
05:32And it was just where I was in the Kop there.
05:35We were all just, you know, just hanging on for penalties
05:37and desperate for penalties, really.
05:38And then, as I said, it's a lottery.
05:40Anything can happen.
05:41But I mean, one thing I couldn't work out
05:43with the penalties was that, obviously,
05:46it was a toss of Virgil van Dijk.
05:47So PSG must have won the toss to take at the other end,
05:51but also took the first penalty.
05:53So I wasn't quite sure what had happened there
05:55in terms of the toss.
05:56Normally, you get one advantage.
05:58And then, you know, the other team maybe goes first penalty.
06:00But they deserve to go through.
06:02Jamie, how was the atmosphere tonight?
06:04Normally, Anfield, it's rocking.
06:06And you just think it can galvanize the team a little bit.
06:10We couldn't hear it as loud as, obviously,
06:12you could there.
06:13What was it like tonight?
06:15Listen, it was brilliant.
06:16I was in there with my mates in the Kop.
06:18But we just didn't get the goal to go mad.
06:19I think we had a couple.
06:20I think there's one disallowed or one
06:22that was, you know, inside of the post.
06:24So we were going mad there.
06:26I'm sure you got it.
06:27But we just didn't have the opportunity to go mad
06:29and get that goal.
06:30I thought with us in the extra time
06:32that we were attacking the Kop second half.
06:34I thought that must have been like a little omen.
06:36We get the winning goal.
06:37But we just ran out of steam.
06:39As I said, we were just hanging on there.
06:40But no, listen, the atmosphere was good.
06:42It was great.
06:43But when you're coming up against a team like that
06:44and they're keeping the ball
06:45and they're causing you problems,
06:46it just puts everyone on edge.
06:48We always enjoy kind of watching you
06:50live these Liverpool games.
06:52Would you mind?
06:52Are you OK?
06:53You seem like you're in good enough spirits.
06:54Would you mind?
06:55Are you all right if we show kind of your reaction
06:58during the disallowed goal?
06:59Oh, come on.
07:00I want to see it.
07:01I can't even monitor.
07:02They didn't swear, did they?
07:04I don't think...
07:04No, we didn't see you swearing all night.
07:06Oh, I see it earlier than everyone.
07:12You see the vision?
07:12You see the vision, the way I see it before everyone else?
07:15Oh, look at that.
07:15Oh, no.
07:17Honestly.
07:19Do you know the kid next to you?
07:20That's what football does to you.
07:22Behind me, you mean?
07:23Yeah.
07:24Yeah, yeah.
07:27Yeah, why?
07:27What did I do to him?
07:28Did I just grab him, did I?
07:29Yeah, you grabbed...
07:29No, you were celebrating with him.
07:30I just wondered if you knew him.
07:31Yeah.
07:32That's what we do in Liverpool.
07:33You know, you don't have to know people that well.
07:35You just hug and, you know, get together and celebrate things.
07:37That's what we do.
07:39Yep.
07:39Who was your most impressed with PSG?
07:41I know it's obviously difficult for you to talk about it,
07:43but I thought they was outstanding tonight, Jamie.
07:46I thought the left back against Salah, again, was brilliant.
07:49You know, he's been outstanding in the two games.
07:50I think the two midfield players, Valtterini and Neves in there were brilliant.
07:55I thought, listen, I thought for the first sort of hour,
07:58maybe a little bit more, 70, 75 minutes,
08:01I thought it was a brilliant game from both teams.
08:03It was just one of those games where we were all talking to the supporters
08:06either side of me at a half-time,
08:08just saying this is just a top-level game,
08:10and you've got to admire the brilliance of the opposition.
08:13And to be honest, Liverpool supporters are used to that.
08:16We're in Europe a lot, we go far in the competition,
08:18and you come up against great teams and great players,
08:20and I think there was a feeling coming out the ground there
08:22that the best team won.
08:23And I think Liverpool supporters are gracious enough to admit
08:26that these look like a really good side.
08:28We've seen them in this competition,
08:29we've been critical of them if they had too many stars.
08:31They were really close one season where they got to the final,
08:34but this almost feels like a team now.
08:36And, you know, for me, I hope they go on and do well,
08:40and I hope they go on and win it.
08:41Sure you do.
08:43There were a few chances...
08:44Well, there's no chance of Man United winning this here
08:46for the next four or five years.
08:47Whatever.
