00:00Can you say which countries you might target in your next travel ban?
00:06Wouldn't that be a stupid thing for me to say?
00:14Which countries am I going to target for the next travel ban?
00:17Can you believe somebody would ask that question?
00:25Well we're going to talk.
00:26We're going to be talking really to the European Union.
00:29You know, I will tell you this, one little, we'll end it with this.
00:33So I have a property, a big property in Ireland that you know well, it's one of the most highly
00:37rated hotels in all of Europe.
00:39It's beautiful.
00:40Doonbeck.
00:41It's a beautiful 600 acres on the ocean and everybody knows it.
00:46And we have a beautiful hotel and I was going to do a project there, a big expansion of
00:51the place.
00:52This was when I was a civilian, before the presidency, before I even thought about the
00:56presidency, but I was going to do a really beautiful expansion of the, because it does
01:01very well.
01:02And I got the approvals from Ireland so quickly.
01:05They were so professional.
01:06They wanted it.
01:07You know, it's economic development, it's jobs, it's construction jobs, a big expansion,
01:12beautiful expansion.
01:14And but I was told something that bothered me.
01:16They said, sir, you also have to get approved by the European Union.
01:21I said, why do I have to go to the European Union to expand a hotel that's in Ireland?
01:25They said, well, that's the way it is.
01:27I say, well, shouldn't that go fast?
01:30They said, no, it'll take at least seven years.
01:33You gave me the approval in about four weeks.
01:37It was a beautiful professional.
01:39If you took four years, you wouldn't have done a better job.
01:41You know, everything was done environmentally.
01:43Everything.
01:44There's no reason to take very long.
01:45I had everything from Ireland in four weeks.
01:50And then I hired somebody who said the process will be from five to seven years.
01:56And I said, oh, really?
01:57And then I found out that they weren't playing games.
02:01Think about how bad that is for for your country.
02:04So that was my first experience with the European Union.
02:07And I dropped the project.
02:08I just said, I'm not going to do that.
02:09I'm not going to go seven years to expand something.
02:12But I have to.
02:13I'll hand it to Ireland.
02:14You were so professional, so good.
02:17I don't know why the European Union had to approve it.
02:21And with them, it was it was.
02:23And that's that's the European Union.
02:25So it was it was a very bad experience.
02:28I had to say, President, you have the distinction of being.
