Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai called out Tamil Nadu Minister PTR Thyagarajan and his DMK colleagues for "allowing their children or grandchildren" to learn three languages in schools while compelling government students to learn only two.
Transcript
00:00Language war is definitely escalating and this time it's not just about three
00:04language policy or Hindi imposition debate but among the leaders in Tamil
00:09Nadu, Mantri PTR says will not accept free language push. Annamalai who is the TN BJP
00:18chief says what languages did PTR's children study if not the three
00:24languages. PTR reporting that my sons study two languages. Basically
00:35Annamalai is saying why are you making everyone hate the three language issue
00:39or the Hindi issue and now what what languages did your children study said
00:45my children or my sons study only two languages and when remember the issue of
00:50two languages comes in in Tamil Nadu basically means English language and the
00:54Tamil language but Annamalai is saying what is the problem with the national
00:58education policy if there are three languages. Dharmendra Pradhan says it is
01:02not about Hindi imposition. Ravindra Munetra Karagam says this is to ensure
01:08that the Tamil language and its history culture is put down and Hindi is imposed.
01:14Let's listen in to both Annamalai and PTR.
01:19What does PTR's son study? PTR's son, is there an American son? I am PTR's son.
01:24PTR's son, where does he study? I have to tell you brother. I will just go and talk on TV
01:31I will just open my mouth and talk. I will go to Madurai press conference.
01:34He has heard the word wise people. After a minister has said that wise people
01:38will not accept, I will ask that minister again. Is your son an Indian
01:43son? First question. Is he an American son? Second question. After answering these two
01:48questions, which school does your son study in? So if your son is studying in a school
01:53where three languages are taught, it means that you don't have the knowledge, right?
01:57Because they can't resist, they are mixing up the voices. First voice, where are the
02:02boys from the ministry studying? Where are the ministers' grandsons studying?
02:06Where are the boys with 34 names studying? That is not important.
02:11What education plan is important for 8 crore people is important.
02:15But I want to tell you a truth here. Some party leader said in a conference today
02:22that how many languages did the boys of the minister PTR study?
02:28I will explain clearly. I have only two bosses.
02:32Both the boys studied in LKG till the end of school in Irutai Moolikolge.
02:42India Today's Pramod Madhav joins me on the latest on this. Pramod, good morning. Tell me
02:46about this three language war where Periyar has been brought in, children of Netas have been brought
02:52in. I am curious why Anamala is asking PTR, how many languages did your child study?
02:59Well, good morning, Pooja. Unfortunately, it looks like this language war is becoming
03:03quite personal now because just like you mentioned, instead of discussing about how
03:08two-language policy and three-language policy are probably essential or what should be done with it,
03:13now we are talking about various other situations. And what happened is that
03:16PTR Thyagarajan, the minister from DMK, actually questioned, he actually said,
03:21he kind of criticized the union government saying that the union government is not even able to
03:26implement one-language policy in many states and now they want to tell us what we should do.
03:31And he said that it is equal to somebody who's only studying LKG trying to teach somebody who's
03:37trying to afford a top grade. And this is why he said, anybody with sense will accept something
03:43like this. Forget self-respect, but anybody with sense will accept something like this.
03:48So this is only like Anamala went ahead and questioned, where does PTR's son study?
03:52What language policy did they study for? And for which PTR has now replied claiming that both his
03:57sons Palani and Vail studied in two-language policy from LKG until they finished schooling
04:03Pooja. For this, Anamala has also reiterated stating that yes, PTR's son studied in two-language,
04:09but he claims, Anamala claims it was English and French. So unfortunately, instead of discussing
04:13about two-language and three-language policy, it is becoming extremely personal now, Pooja.
04:19Very interesting. Keep tracking all the latest on this, Pramod, because remember,
04:23it's eventually about an education policy for the school system that needs to be implemented.
04:27At the earliest, Tamil Nadu has said no. Centre has said, you will have to implement it because
04:32all other states are doing so. But here's how it's taken another turn. Periyar is known as
04:38the architect of driven politics and specifically sensitive when it comes to Tamil Nadu discourse.
04:45But there's been a clash over this now, and this is connected to the education policy three-language
04:49controversy. This is when slamming the DMK, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that DMK
04:56garlands a man, worships him, nobody is allowed to criticize him, referring to Periyar, but he's
05:02the same man who said Tamil language cannot even help beggars get alms, that he's the one who
05:10criticized Tamil language and its people. Now, of course, the DMK jumping in to defend Periyar,
05:15claiming that Periyar's words were different from what the minister is saying here.
05:20But actor-turned-neta, TVK chief Vijay is defending the Dravidian politics icon,
05:25accusing BJP of using Periyar to divert criticism from the real issue.
05:30So, Nirmala Sitharaman said this, which led to what was among the leaders in Tamil Nadu.
06:00Nirmala Sitharaman said, look at the hypocrisy. They keep his photo in every room. I'm sure even
06:07in the parliament office of that party, his photo is there. They garland him and they worship him
06:13and they say he's the icon of Dravidian movement. But he said Tamil is Katamrandi brashai.
06:20So, sir, I'm saying,
06:25unbelievable that this person is worshipped, but our poor Darmendra Pradhan just said,
06:32don't do uncivil protest. He's being accused. And if their love for Tamil is so much,
06:38how can they worship somebody who said Tamil is Katamrandi brashai?
06:54I want to take you to Karnataka now, because there's one story that has too many twists and
06:58turns that are emerging, especially with the gold smuggling charge. We're talking about an actress
07:03who was found with gold bars taped to her waist, her body, legs, hiding gold bars in her shoes,
07:09and also in other parts with regard to a modified jacket. However,
07:13India today is consistently getting more details of what exactly happened. Remember,
07:18politicians have been dragged in because Sitaram and other Congress leaders were seen at this
07:22wedding. BJP is jumping on this. But here's what India today has found in an exclusive
07:28access that we have of the statement. Rania Rao, while did not reveal the name and details,
07:34says there was a handler she met at the Dubai airport. She received a call from an unknown
07:39number. And that is when she was at the Dubai airport after her security check. A man came
07:45wearing the traditional Arabic dress, about six feet tall, fair skinned, had an African American
07:52accent. He gave her the gold bars in a plastic bag, and then left. She did not know him earlier.
08:00She had not and she did not meet him later as well. He immediately left the scene. And he asked
08:06her then to keep the gold in an auto rickshaw in Bengaluru. And she said this is the first time
08:12that she's attempted any of this smuggling. Remember, this is an exclusive information
08:16that we are bringing to you right now, that our colleagues on the ground have access from the
08:20interrogation details. But here's what the actress has also said to the court and also to
08:26the investigators. She has said that the DRI authorities are indulging in psychological
08:31harassment of her during the interrogation. India Today has accessed how she managed to
08:37also evade customs. Remember, that so much gold basically needs information to be given out
08:42to the authorities unless of course it's a case of smuggling. And that's when she had a constable
08:47she used her VVIP connections to evade security checks till the authorities got suspicious,
08:53possibly had a tip off. And that's when she got caught. These images on your screen have turned
08:58it into a political blame game. DK Shivkumar, the deputy CM is denying any charge. He is accusing
09:03the BJP of spreading rumors that there are Congress leaders seen at the wedding. After
09:08pictures emerged. Now, the BJP stepping up and while the Congress says, but it was former government
09:15former CM Basavraj Bhumai of BJP, who actually gave plots and land to the actress.
09:23Lot of newspaper has also carried out this information that's couple of senior ministers
09:29have a close link with Rania Rao. This has emerged in the media also. Secondly, when a lady on the
09:39humpty number of occasions, not once or twice, more than 30 times, she has gone outside country.
09:46Whenever she had come back to India or Bangalore, security has been provided. No checking at the
09:52airport. So this is a clear loot. Hawala is involved and there are many other senior ministers
09:58are also involved. What was necessary for state government to initiate inquiry when CBI is already
10:04investigating the matter? The only agenda of this Congress party is to cover up the issue.
10:12They have also started parallel investigation.
10:34It may be a BJP's link. It is not Congress link because there is nothing in that. No minister
10:58will be involved in any such type of scandals. My chief minister has also ordered some inquiry,
11:07the internal inquiry to be conducted, whether any officers have been involved in the protocol
11:12issues. I am also shocked that how can 14 kilos can be brought inside in the airport
11:19while checking and checking out. So they will go for investigation. I am sure, confident,
11:26this is a BJP game plan. No ministers have been involved in anything.
11:31Whether it is two ministers or 20 ministers, please tell them to put it on record.
11:36If they know who those two ministers are. CBI only is investigating.
11:43Under whose guidance is the CBI running? Can't they tell the two ministers that are involved?
11:51So I want to now bring some exclusive information that my colleague on the ground has accessed from
11:55the investigation presently going on. Rana Rao has not revealed the exact details of the kingpin.
12:00She says she does not even know him. However, here's what she has told. And this is mind
12:05numbing to say the least. She received calls from foreign numbers. These were unknown numbers,
12:11but she clearly knew what it was headed to, what was happening here. Not entirely sure who called
12:18me. She says, I do not know the handler. I do not know the details of the kingpin. However,
12:22there was a handler is what she's accepted. Then she goes on to add that the caller had an
12:27African American accent. This is in reference to the caller, the one possibly she did not meet,
12:32but the one she says who she was in touch with in coordinating on what to do at the Dubai airport.
12:39There was a man about six feet tall, wearing a traditional Arabic dress. This was at the
12:44Dubai airport who gave her some gold bars in a plastic packet, but never met or saw the man
12:51who gave the gold. She had not met him earlier. He immediately left the scene after giving her
12:55the package. She's never seen him again. The man at the Dubai airport was six feet tall,
13:00fair skinned. This means now possibly the authorities at the Dubai airport or India,
13:05Dubai will have to get together to cooperate in this investigation to find out more.
13:09Told to collect gold at the Dubai airport, deliver it in Bengaluru. This means that these
13:16gold bars were not just for Rania Rao. Who were the gold bars meant for? First time smuggled such
13:24gold bars from Dubai to Bengaluru. First time, not the first time a luck. She clearly got caught
13:30even though she tried best to evade the security checks. But that's why the investigators are
13:36checks. But that's why the investigators are looking at a larger syndicate angle now here
13:41about whether this was just about Rania Rao. Possibly she wanted a few bucks extra or is
13:47there a larger syndicated play? Who was she supposed to leave it for? Where and why? Who
13:52was supposed to pick up these gold bars from Bengaluru? Had she got out in time and managed
13:59to fool the authorities as well? So these are the data details that are coming in. I want you to
14:04take a look at this report because now it's turned political. Neta seen at her VVIP wedding,
14:09then a neta or previous government of the BJP who congress is accusing gave land and
14:15plots to Rania Rao. Are there politicians names likely to be dragged in this syndicate?
14:25Over a week since Rania Rao's smuggling ring was busted, several questions remain unanswered.
14:32In the custody of the directorate of revenue intelligence, the Kannada starlet has sought
14:37bail, claiming her arrest is unjust and arrest norms were violated. India Today has accessed
14:46details on how Rania's smuggling racket was busted. First, actor who is the stepdaughter of
14:56DGP rank officer Ramachandra Rao was intercepted at the airport and questioned at the green
15:03corridor. But Rania claimed she had no gold or contraband on her to declare a claim that was
15:11debunked at the metal detector door test. A personal check revealed concealed gold on her waist,
15:20calves, shoes and pockets. The recovered gold is worth over 12 crore rupees and weighed over 14
15:28kilograms. A raid at her residence later led to the seizure of cash and jewellery.
15:37A wedding picture has added to the buzz around the racket. Chief Minister Siddharamaiah,
15:43Home Minister G. Parameswara were seen smiling next to Rania,
15:47her husband and her stepfather DGP at her wedding. The Congress and the BJP are locked
15:55in a blame game, each accusing the other of links to the smuggler starlet.
16:13Rania's architect husband is also under the CBI radar now for taking frequent trips to Dubai.
16:28Bureau Report, India Today.
16:43Rania has withdrawn the CID probe into police role in Rania Rao gold smuggling case.
16:50Why is the police role being pulled back? When she clearly flaunted that she's the DGP rank officer
16:56daughter, she shouldn't have a security check done. She reportedly had a constable with her
17:02from Karnataka police who also tried best to tell the officials of DRI not to do her security check
17:08because she's a DGP rank officer. Was there a police role that should be investigated into
17:13this further? Why has the CID probe pulled back on this? The details are that the Karnataka
17:18government has withdrawn the CID probe into police involvement. CID initially was tasked
17:23to investigate if there were if there were any protocol violations at the Bengaluru International
17:28Airport. My colleague Sagai Raj who's been on top of the story, he's getting us all the inside
17:34details that are coming in. Sagai tell me more because the CID in many ways of the state will
17:40be under the state government. How are they looking at why police role isn't important to investigate
17:46here? So far the Karnataka government has not given any kind of a reason that why they have
17:52revoked the probe order of CID. CID was supposed to investigate the role of police personnel
17:59especially protocol officers at the airport. Remember that the protocol officers at the
18:04airport are the state government officials especially from the state government police
18:09department. In this particular case there were lapses on the state government police which has
18:14allowed Rania Rao to get away. So there was a probe which was being ordered but now the Karnataka
18:18government has withdrawn the CID probe. All right Sagai will be tracking all the latest on that a
18:24lot of turns. Remember is there an involvement of anyone known at the top that is someone trying to
18:31protect them or more because more and more names are definitely like to tumble out of this pocket
18:36especially when it comes to gold smuggling issues.
18:39I have a disturbing news coming in from Chandigarh. It was a parking fight, a fight over parking of
18:58cars that led to deaths. This was in Mohali in Chandigarh. A scientist was battered so brutally
19:06eventually succumbed to injuries. There was a late night over parking a fight took place.
19:13A possibly a usual disagreement you may have seen in any neighborhood issue over parking but that
19:20led to a fist fight. A group came to attack this young man who appears to have been a scientist.
19:27One by one punches were held on him and in this petty fight a life has been lost. We were told
19:34that Abhishek was ailing. His name was Abhishek the deceased. He's lost his life. He could not
19:41recover from the injuries but what sort of a rage is this that we are looking at especially among
19:48the youth in the country. My colleague Aman Bhardwaj is tracking all the latest on that.
19:53Aman tell us about this place in Mohali. Otherwise Mohali seems to be more peaceful
20:01in an areas where you know many it's more sophisticated in many ways and yet this
20:06incident happened. What are you picking up on details? Well exactly but there are a lot of
20:13people who are that are migrating from other places and there's sort of intolerance that
20:18Mohali has built in its crowd from last few years. So that could be the reason that
20:26there's people are impatient on small issues whether it's parking or whether it's any
20:33little argument with each other. So that could be the reason but Abhishek was 39 years old and
20:39he was also his kidney was transplanted by the doctor and he was on dialysis even
20:48and by knowing this his medical condition also the attacker whose name is identified as Monty
20:56is now running all away. These men who were involved in this fist fight have any of them
21:04being caught? Are their faces clear? Identity is confirmed? There's only one person whose identity
21:12is clear. His name is Monty for which the police is making all searches in Mohali.
21:18So the clash also happened the CCTV footage that we saw the clash and the person who is
21:24beating Abhishek is Monty. So the police is searching for Monty that where he ran and
21:31how this incident took the life of this neighborhood. If you know this man by the
21:36identity of Monty is what we are told CCTV footage will help you with further details.
21:41Help the cops find him, nab this accused. What was the reason of such a massive fist fight that
21:48has led to death of an individual over parking of cars? A parking fight has led to murders now
21:55and I hope this accused or perhaps there are multiple number of people here they should be
22:01caught at the earliest.
22:32Holi festival that we see across the country especially in the northern belt happening
22:36right now. The BJP has jumped in on this because Bengal government and this is bizarre they are
22:44citing that the threat is to the trees. The threat is to the trees. There is a damaged threat to the
22:52trees that we cannot possibly have this event. Now the Bharatiya Janata Party has jumped on this
22:58saying of course she'll ban the Holi because she wants to help the Ramzan month because
23:03remember it's the Ramzan month also right now BJP saying Banerjee is acting like Begum.
23:08So this is a UNESCO heritage site no Holi bash here. Let's listen in first to what is being said.
23:28Bengal government opposes all the Hindu rituals and festivals that you have seen in Kumbh Mela.
23:35Today such a big Kumbh Mela where people have come from all over the country because it was their
23:39belief. There Mamata Banerjee says it was a death camp. So with that their wishes and
23:44feelings you will be able to understand better. So people have understood that the Chief Minister
23:49here may have the name Banerjee but all the work is done by Begum.
24:23India Today's Anupam Mishra is joining me for the latest on that. Anupam tell me this
24:36were there events like this earlier organized at the Shanti Niketan
24:41Hard because damaged threat to trees. I don't know how what to make of it really.
24:47It's a protected area under forest department. It's a Sonajhuri Hard.
24:53So for the past 50 years forest department was observing that several people and several
25:02tourists were coming here and they were damaging the green cover here. So they have decided to ban
25:09the Holi inside this Sonajhuri Hard because there are a lot of trees lot of Sonajhuri trees are
25:14there and according to forest department. Anupam has an alternate venue then been decided at all
25:21or the event is not happening? Well pardon me can you come up again?
25:27So the alternate event is happening or not?
25:32This area is comes under forest department. So they have put a banner. They have decided
25:38that they won't allow Holi here. So there is nothing that forest department can alter.
25:47Stay on with me Anupam. Stay on with me because I'm joined by BJP's Rahul Sinha.
26:38I'm BJP's leader. You are against Holi festival. You feel it was not right to ban it.
27:09But why are you saying that it is because of Ramzan.
27:12Mamata Banerjee's plan is to appease the Muslim community.
27:39Okay. So the BJP leader saying this is to appease one community and because it's also the ongoing
27:55month of Ramzan they are saying she just wants to please her vote bank and that's the latest.
28:01It was at the Shantiniketan Hut and event was going on but no Holi Milan will happen because
28:07there is a UNESCO site. It may damage the trees led to a huge showdown by the BJP.
28:21I want to take you now to the state of Uttar Pradesh because where Holi festival is literally
28:25the epicenter when it comes to celebrations and festivities. But there could be communal
28:30tensions as well. The Holi festival on the 14th of March which is tomorrow is going to coincide
28:36with the Friday Namaz prayers where also there are congregations and plus it's the month of Ramzan
28:41in the afternoon. Strict security arrangements have been made. Strict measures are being taken
28:47that communal hotspot sensitive locations do not erupt in any sort of communal violence.
28:53Report on that.
29:06Uttar Pradesh CM plays the Hindutva card.
29:17Yogi Adityanath yet again asserts the historical significance of Sambhal
29:22claiming it goes back over 5,000 years predating Islam.
29:37The statement from UP CM comes amid a controversy surrounding Holi which is this year
30:00coinciding with Friday Namaz and has escalated into a political showdown.
30:07Massive security arrangements have been made in Sambhal ahead of Holi celebrations.
30:14Ten mosques including the Jama Masjid have been covered using tarpaulin during Holi procession.
30:22The city had witnessed riots last year when authorities conducted court-ordered survey.
30:29As per the latest guidelines the police will visit all areas deemed to be sensitive.
30:35They will also visit all locations where Holika Dehen is taking place.
30:41The police will also reach out to religious leaders of both sides to ensure peace.
30:46They will monitor areas of mixed population,
30:49procession routes and communal hotspots using CCTV cameras and drones.
31:05The police will also visit all areas of the city to ensure peace.
31:17I am here at the Shankar Chowk, the main market of the Sambhal which is few
31:21meters away from the Shahi Jama Masjid and not here.
31:25Various places which are seen sensitive by the administration like these police
31:29personnel are deployed there with anti-riot gears. Three layers of security has been planned
31:36in the city to control the situation as well as the city has been divided into six zones and 29 sectors.
31:44Meanwhile the BJP in Delhi has echoed a Sambhal police official's call to Muslims
31:50to stay indoors on Holi if they feel uncomfortable.
31:59I would like to request my brothers and sisters to offer Namaz in their homes
32:05so that we can celebrate this festival within a year and you can also do the same.
32:10So that you don't have any complaints from us that this happened and that happened and there should be peace.
32:18A tense Holi and Friday Namaz awaits Sambhal, where a temple-mosque legal dispute is raging.
32:29The police has formed a peace committee and they are talking with various stakeholders,
32:33organization, masjid and mandir committees for the harmony and the peace in Sambhal.
32:39With cameraman Pradeep Gupta, Anmol Bali, Sambhal.
32:44So what is the ground status currently in Sambhal which has been remember in the past few days
32:49witnessed communal tensions. The mosques on the Holi procession route will likely be covered with
32:55the tarpaulin at least till the Holi procession takes place. My colleague Anmol Bali is on the
32:59ground he sends us this report. As Holi and Friday prayers are falling on the same day coinciding
33:07that Sambhal administration has tightened the security on the ground. Currently I am here
33:11behind the Shahi Jama Masjid which became the epicenter of violence in the month of November
33:16last year and as you can see in the visuals you can see Uttar Pradesh Police Personnel's
33:22RRF as well as PAC police persons are deployed on the ground to maintain peace. Yesterday was
33:28seen a meeting took place between the peace committee and Sambhal police and they have
33:33decided to cover the walls of mosques not only Shahi Jama Masjid other nine mosques wall has
33:39been also covered by the administration to maintain peace in the city. I'll also show
33:44you in the visuals they are also monitoring the situation with the CCTV cameras they are using
33:50drones they're keeping eye on the social media because tomorrow it will be seen that Holi
33:56procession will take place will pass from these streets where I'm standing and near the Jama
34:01Masjid and even Friday prayers will also take place and the big challenge for Sambhal administration
34:08will be to maintain peace and harmony in the city with cameraman Pradeep Gupta, Anmol Bali, Sambhal.
34:15NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have been stranded in space for almost
34:21nine months now. It was supposed to be a mission of nine days. SpaceX postponed the launch of the
34:27Falcon 9 rocket from Florida due to a hydraulic system issue with the ground support. That means
34:32the crew 10 mission to bring back the crew 9 mission astronauts is going to be delayed but
34:37hope is not lost NASA of course is aiming for the launch no earlier that 5 a.m. was
34:44we are told tomorrow morning so there is still hope they are still looking at it otherwise it's
34:49going to be Monday basically that they have to leave the International Space Station to return
34:54to earth and there are many challenges technical gravity related health related and more so these
35:00are the details that are coming in right now visuals on your screen now remember she's been
35:04looking resilient Sunita Williams Indian origin astronaut and Butch Wilmore have been putting out
35:09videos to say they are celebrating festivals they are in good health but in zero gravity
35:15nine months is a challenge let's go across now to try and understand what exactly happened
35:21joining me Sibu Tripathi he's India today senior assistant editor science and has been tracking
35:26this issue since the day the mission was launched Sibu good morning now it was always supposed to be
35:31a experiment mission the astronauts realize the challenges but tell me now one how and why has
35:38the delay happened at this time good morning Pooja first of all the launch was supposed to
35:46happen this morning around 5 18 a.m. this was a spacex dragon spacecraft that was taking crew 10
35:51so four astronauts to replace the four astronauts currently in space the problem happened with one
35:56of the hydraulic systems on the retractable arm of the dragon spacecraft therefore which was
36:02the launch was cancelled at the last minute at the last moment and a new date was issued
36:07initially the plan was that it will launch tomorrow morning but what we are getting the
36:11latest update is due to high winds in the launch area this launch has been further delayed so now
36:16the launch is expected to happen on Saturday morning around 5 5 30 a.m. so this has been the
36:24latest update around it the launch happens this will take about 12 12 and a half hours to basically
36:29randomly with the space station and then the docking will happen so it's a long process it
36:34has been further delayed what this means is so it's a William's return will again be delayed
36:38and this will now happen in a week's time so sometime around next week Thursday or Friday
36:42is when we are expecting her to come back so it's going to be perhaps a daily assessment that will
36:46be done of the spacecraft seaboard for for those wondering how are nine months in in space in zero
36:53gravity of course these are experienced scientists and astronauts they know fairly well what they
36:58they have been in but tell us more what kind of challenges are they facing right now possibly
37:04and on their return to earth when there will be gravity that will be another level of challenge
37:08they'll have to adjust to definitely when we the starliner that took astronauts sunita williams
37:15and willmore to space we need to know that this was a demo mission the idea was that they wanted
37:20to certify starliner spacecraft that it is fit to carry humans and then safely bring them back
37:26there were a lot of uncertainties and sunita williams and willmore has
37:29repeatedly said that space family is filled with uncertainties therefore when the problems
37:34arised they decided that the mission will be extended now this nine-day mission has now
37:39turned into over an eight-month mission and with this a lot of complications coming first of all
37:44you have to make a major readjustment psychologically that okay now you have to stay
37:48in space for at least next seven to eight months which takes a huge toll on the psyche of the
37:54person but then we all know that most the astronauts are veteran fighter pilots helicopter
37:59pilots and veteran astronauts as well so they've been in the space before and they know the rigors
38:03of going into space now when it comes to physical and health assessment of the two astronauts
38:09then definitely it takes a lot of toll physically on the astronauts because zero gravity is where
38:14you do not experience any weight you float in your weightless in the correct station
38:20what this affects is mostly that your bone density goes down your bones are affected
38:24secondly your cardiovascular system they take a toll so all this has been taken into consideration
38:31a healthy diet is prepared by the by nasa apart from that a lot of exercises are done in nasa
38:38so nasa has developed special equipments for astronauts to live and work in space station
38:42they continuously walk out on these spaces on a daily basis therefore it's a long process
38:51and once they come back that's also a huge process so what we know is that once the astronauts come
38:56back to earth they take at least six to seven months to fully read for the body to fully read
39:00this will be gravity on the planet it's it's it's incredible what you're telling us because
39:07as sibu is explaining what the body goes through in space and then when there will be gravity
39:12remember physical fitness aside and i'm sure they are fit she's almost 60 years of age but
39:16it also needs psychological stamina to keep your spirit and hope high despite the uncertainty of
39:22the return it's been nine months already but we hope they'll be entering into earth's surface
39:27again and will be reunited with their family thank you very much for now uh sibu tripathi
39:32for all the latest on that i want to bring to the viewer basically what exactly is this
39:37rescue mission so to say about what does this mean and why are we facing delays and
39:42postponements on this now remember this space mission is where the spacex spacecraft dragon
39:47space will bring back the astronauts so they have taken it upon themselves trump when in this
39:52administration said they cannot be abandoned and these astronauts will be brought back soon
39:58the spacecraft will carry four experienced nasa astronauts as part of the crew 10 mission so the
40:04mission that will go to the international space station is the crew 10 mission and that needs to
40:08replace the crew 9 mission presently which is at the iss so they will replace these members
40:14which means sunita williams butch will more will have to be brought back in the spacecraft that
40:19comes back now but what does that really mean remember when you head into space there are
40:24challenges of not just heading into and toward the iss but to return to earth's atmosphere and
40:29that's where there can be especially some technical challenges that you have to be very
40:33sure of having cleared post-launch falcon 9 will be deployed and will deploy the dragon capsule
40:40toward the iss so basically they are in the international space station are comfortable
40:45for now but there is also a time bound limit that they are looking at upon docking the handover
40:50process will begin with sunita williams and i keep saying sunita williams first because she
40:55in many ways is the commander of the mission she's the leader she gets to decide what needs
41:00to be done with other members of the crew as well so that is what is going to happen looking with a
41:05strong spirit right now but definitely it gets challenging over the next few days so this is
41:10what is happening and we hope that they'll be entering into earth again remember nasa is being
41:17very cautious right now amid all of this because the crew 9 will begin their journey to earth
41:23post the undocking and it's a matter of about 12 to 24 hours when this mission is going to go on
41:29remember we we know about incidents like 2003 when kalpana chawla was returning and the spacecraft
41:38blew into pieces a similar incident in 1986 and therefore the nasa astronauts want to ensure
41:44that this return will happen soon and should be safe and smooth what are the health concerns what
41:50are the challenges when you're in space in microgravity all that you have to tolerate and
41:54bear to return safely to earth here's more on that a 10-day space odyssey that ended up lasting
42:14months but it will not be a normal homecoming williams and willmore will face difficulties
42:21to adapt to earth's gravity the two may experience baby feet after extended space travel
42:28which means they will lose the thick part of their skin as weightlessness causes food calluses
42:34to diminish they may experience dizziness vertigo and difficulty walking for the first few days
42:41even though astronauts exercise in space muscles especially in the legs and back weaken due to
42:47reduced use prolonged weightlessness leads to bone density loss increasing the risk of fractures
42:54in space fluids shift upwards and the heart does not have to work as hard to pump blood
43:00they will require a period of cardiovascular recovery they might experience spatial
43:05disorientation as the brain readjusts to the constant downward pull of gravity
43:11to counter these effects nasa and other space agencies have extensive rehabilitation programs
43:18involving physical therapy medical monitoring and gradual reconditioning after coming back from
43:24space sunita williams and butch willmore will take weeks to acclimatize bureau report india today
43:32you
43:34let's just hope that the return happens soon because it's nine months already and
43:38the astronauts will return and be reunited with their families soon
43:42on that note i'm wrapping up this bulletin thank you so much for watching india
