During Saturday’s Press Briefing, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer answered questions about the proposed pressures to be placed on Russia to get them to come to the negotiation table.

00:00The Russian leader has said his nation needed guarantees before it would consider the 30-day
00:05ceasefire, and later urged Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region to surrender.
00:11Given the obvious advantage to Putin of a delay, what are the pressures that you can
00:17now use to bring Russia to the table?
00:20You've talked in your statement about sanctions.
00:23Are you now willing to seize those frozen Russian assets?
00:27And also, what is your message to President Trump about the urgency of the situation now
00:33that he must be part of the coalition to bring Putin to the table?
00:39I think there are two points of pressure.
00:41The first is more military capability for Ukraine, and fresh commitments put on the
00:46table this morning in that regard.
00:48So this group is moving forward on that.
00:52That's short-term military capabilities and longer-term military capabilities, because
00:57we also see Ukraine playing its own part in any security arrangements, which is very important.
01:04In terms of the sanctions, yes, we want to tighten the sanctions still further, and we
01:08discussed this morning how much further we can go, including the question of frozen assets.
01:14That is a complicated question, as I think everybody appreciates.
01:19So we discussed further sanctions that have got nothing to do with the assets, which we
01:24will take forward as a result of this morning's discussion, but also a continuing discussion
01:29about what more can be done on the assets themselves.
