00:00It's John back broadcasting backstage West of the Fest 2025 Tim and Tom from wet plain
00:16white tees.
00:17What's up?
00:18What's up?
00:19I must spit that out and said plain wet tees.
00:20Can I tell you a story about this?
00:21That sounds like a South by Southwest move right there.
00:23So check this out.
00:24Years ago, I was a night DJ.
00:26This was in South Carolina and we were doing like, you know, the top five countdown or
00:29whatever.
00:30And it's when Hey there, Delilah was like, number one.
00:32And this late, I was giving away like movie tickets or something.
00:35And I was like, all right, call in and like, give me the top five songs and you win the
00:39movie tickets.
00:40And this lady answers the phone when she calls in and I'm like, call her nine.
00:44Who's this?
00:45And it was obviously like someone's mom who like, you know, the kid had written down all
00:48the songs.
00:49And so she didn't know what the song was.
00:50And she was like, all right, number one was plain wet tees.
00:54And I was like, what?
00:55Plain wet tees, Austin, Texas.
00:56Let's go.
00:57That's awesome.
00:58Let's go.
00:59Let's go.
01:00That's all I could ever think of from that.
01:01Then until now.
01:02But thank you guys so much for being here.
01:05Awesome day, dude.
01:06It's been fun, right?
01:07Yeah.
01:08Yeah.
01:09Talk about you guys.
01:10Obviously, you've been to Austin before.
01:11Talk about your favorite memories of coming to this town.
01:12What do you think of when you come to Austin?
01:14Dude, last year, I fell in love in Austin, Texas for the first time for the not the first
01:21time.
01:22The last time.
01:23OK.
01:24Yeah.
01:25The most current time.
01:26The most current time.
01:27And you have since written an entire album inspired by that moment.
01:30Yeah.
01:31I wrote an entire album based on this meeting this girl in Austin, Texas.
01:34Really?
01:35Yeah.
01:36OK.
01:37Do you want to give any more details in terms of the girl or herself or details about the
01:41album?
01:42There's not many more details.
01:43This thing has not been released yet.
01:44No, it's out.
01:45It's out there.
01:46Oh, it is?
01:47OK.
01:48I've got a solo project called Million Miler.
01:49OK.
01:50And the whole album is about her.
01:53And I might see her tomorrow.
01:55I don't know.
01:56Really?
01:57Should I ask?
01:58Or is that too personal?
01:59Probably here.
02:00I don't know.
02:01OK.
02:02Look around.
02:03It's a long story, but, you know.
02:04Yeah.
02:05We'll see what happens.
02:06OK.
02:07Excellent.
02:08Austin magic, though.
02:09That's true.
02:10Austin magic.
02:11That's true.
02:12Exactly.
02:13You guys, obviously, this band has been in some form or fashion for multiple decades
02:14at this point.
02:15Is there a particular memory you guys think of, like, about the band where you're like,
02:20oh, the first thing that comes to mind about this band, my favorite memory is this.
02:24Meeting Tim for the first time.
02:27How do you feel about that?
02:29Do you feel like that is a sincere answer?
02:31Yeah, I feel puffed up.
02:32That sounds kind of erotic.
02:33He felt that same way that night, too.
02:37We all feel a bit puffed up.
02:38You know, we all do.
02:39Man, I mean, we've had a streak of amazing moments in this band.
02:46It's pretty hard to pick one.
02:47Yeah.
02:48In fact, when all the biggest stuff was happening for the band, the Grammy nods, the number
02:54one song on Billboard, all that, we were so busy that you almost didn't really realize
03:00what it was that was happening.
03:01Totally.
03:02You get a phone call from someone at the label like, hey, by the way, you're going to get
03:07an email or you're going to get hit up about, you know, you're nominated for X amount of
03:10Grammys or, you know, hey, just watch the charts tomorrow, you're going to be number
03:15one.
03:16And it's like we were so chaotically busy that you just didn't really know that it was
03:21a moment that you had to really sink, let sink in.
03:25And then you just, the grind goes on and we've been doing it ever since.
03:28Totally.
03:29And it's been filled with amazing moments.
03:30Of course.
03:31I mean, we're about to leave, we're traveling around the entire world starting on the 21st
03:36of this month.
03:37Going to the Philippines for the first time.
03:39Really?
03:40Thailand for the first time.
03:41Yeah.
03:42Nice.
03:43Australia again.
03:44Yeah.
03:45Wow.
03:46Is there any like particular town you're like, I've never been there and I can't wait to
03:47get there?
03:48I'm sure all of them are exciting.
03:49I mean, Bangkok is going to be cool.
03:50Ooh, yeah.
03:52That's going to be exciting.
03:53That's going to be exciting.
03:54Before I let you guys get out of here, we've been asking all our artists here on the couch,
03:58your first concert, your last concert, and your best concert you've ever been to.
04:03Woo!
04:04Start with first concert.
04:05That's an easy one.
04:06First concert for me was a band called Face to Face.
04:07It was a punk rock band.
04:09Okay.
04:10That was one of my favorite bands back in the day.
04:11Do you know Face to Face?
04:13I don't.
04:14Oh!
04:1515 years old, I think.
04:16Okay.
04:17Wow.
04:18Are we talking like Ramones era type music?
04:19No, no, no.
04:20It was earlier than that.
04:21It like, you know, on the come up with like Lag Wagon and Strung Out and Good Riddance.
04:26Like a Fat Records-ish.
04:27Yeah, Fat Records type band.
04:30No Effects, like that era.
04:31Oh, okay.
04:32Yeah.
04:33I know No Effects.
04:34Yep.
04:35My first concert ever was Pearl Jam.
04:36It's a solid one.
04:37That's a good one.
04:38Yeah.
04:39Yeah.
04:40I think they went on to do good things.
04:41Yeah, not bad.
04:42Yeah.
04:43Not bad.
04:44Last concert.
04:45Wait, last concert.
04:46I got to think about this.
04:47Yeah, this is one where you like went to a show like to see this specific band.
04:49You're good.
04:50It's recorded.
04:51It's not radio.
04:52Last concert.
04:53Let it fly.
04:54I was just at...
04:55Oh, okay.
04:56I mean, I would say for me, like, we just got off tour with a band called The Used.
04:57Do you remember The Used?
04:58A band called The Used.
04:59Yes.
05:00Yeah.
05:01Everybody knows The Used.
05:02Okay, good.
05:03It's familiar.
05:04Come on.
05:05It's fair to ask.
05:06Just toured with them.
05:07Yeah.
05:08And we would sit every night and listen to them warm up, and they play their whole set
05:23in their dressing room before they walk on stage.
05:25The whole set?
05:26Really?
05:27Yeah.
05:28So, we would sit just ears to the wall listening to their first show.
05:30Yeah.
05:31And we'd be geeking out, literally, singing Harmonies a lot, me and Tim's...
05:35It's like Saturday Night Live, where they do the whole rehearsal.
05:37Singing harmonies to each other in the other room and then watch the set and then became good friends with those guys
05:45So awesome tour and one of the last shows I've actually been to so, okay
05:49All right. So the final one the toughest one is the best show you've ever seen
05:53The best show. Yeah of all time like you're like the Paul McCartney
05:58That's great. I just saw a week ago the good time boys. I saw him a week ago
06:05Awesome your favorite band for your band. All right, they're a cover band in LA
06:10okay, and they they played at a place called break room 86 and
06:15Then they also played a place called good times at Davey Wayne's
06:20and real literally I played a show in in LA a few days ago with my side project and
06:27After the show we went to this dive bar
06:29And it blew my mind that my favorite band was playing at this dive bar, right?
06:34The good time boys at good times at Davey Wayne's man. We got to look this up. Yeah, I'm not familiar. It was incredible
06:40I will get familiar. It was incredible gentlemen. Thank you so much for being here. Have fun on tour. Enjoy the world literally
06:46Good to see you. Yes, you have a time for plain white t's job at Austin
