Mark Zuckerberg, other entrepreneurs and some countries are considering universal basic incomes for everyone, let's discuss!
Transcript
00:00We should explore ideas like universal basic income to make sure that everyone has a cushion to try new ideas.
00:09And now it's time for our generation to define a new social contract.
00:22There will be fewer and fewer jobs that a robot cannot do better.
00:30What to do about mass unemployment? This is going to be a massive social challenge.
00:37And I think ultimately we will have to have some kind of universal basic income.
00:42I don't think we're going to have a choice.
00:51We're doing a study, also NYC research,
00:55where we're going to try giving about a thousand people a basic income for five years.
01:00We don't need everyone to work and we have enough resources where we can give everyone money and you can do what you want.
01:19I think it's going to be really different. I think it's important to start studying this now.
01:23Because even if the jobs don't really change for 10 or 20 or 30 years,
01:30human society does not adapt very quickly.
01:32And the sooner we can start seeing what happens and how people adapt, I think the better off we'll be.
01:52Show me the money.
