1,300-year-old temple destroyed in deadly South Korea wildfires

Among the many structures destroyed is the historic Gounsa Temple, a 1,300-year-old Buddhist temple established in 681 A.D. during the Shilla dynasty. The temple suffered extensive damage, with 20 out of its 30 buildings burned, including the Gaunru pavilion and the Yeonsujeon hall, both significant cultural treasures from the Joseon dynasty.
