Transcript
00:00Hello everyone, I am Upanishad Sharma at the isolation ward of NSCB Medical College Jabalpur.
00:08I first noticed my symptoms on the 18th of March after I came back to India on the 16th
00:17of March from Basel where I stay and the symptoms were headache and body ache and cough and
00:27high fever. Then I was admitted to the hospital the very next day as I informed the authorities.
00:35So on 19th of March I was admitted to the hospital and I was tested positive on the
00:4020th. I think I caught it in Basel but it's really hard to tell but as per my symptoms
00:48and the time that they took to develop, I am pretty sure I got it in Basel in Switzerland.
00:57I was rather overwhelmed at the beginning and scared I wasn't but it was overwhelmed
01:07yes because I was the first one of the four cases that were detected in my city and the
01:13state of Madhya Pradesh. The treatment I received was prophylactic and the protocol
01:22for treating mild cases and most of the medicines were also symptomatic but the doctors are
01:29very helpful and they keep checking on us for almost four to six times every day. They
01:35even call and they even counsel us if we are afraid of the consequences of our disease
01:43or other things. So they are pretty helpful. In the hospital I am coping with isolation
01:49by mostly taking a lot of meds and sleeping so I am taking a lot of rest because also
01:59the meds make me sleepy and I am also catching up with old friends and also making some new
02:05friends. They provide me in the hospital with breakfast, lunch and dinner. I am also eating
02:12a lot of fruits and vegetables and I am eating a lot of food, yes. Currently I am on the
02:19day 13th of my treatment so maybe in a day or two they will test me again and then decide
02:25whether they have to leave me or not. I am feeling better because most of my symptoms
02:30are gone but only coughing is remaining so I hope that goes away soon. As soon as I go
02:39home what will I do first is I think catch up on a lot of pending work that I have because
02:46I couldn't do anything as I was in the hospital. So I will catch up on that and I will catch
02:50up on some reading and pick up some good book to read. Let's see how that goes. And things
02:57that I would do differently after this pandemic is past us is to maintain better personal
03:05hygiene and health so that I stay fit and I am able to help others around me. And the
03:15advice I have for people who are out there is mainly to follow the protocol and do not
03:22panic but stay cautious and careful at this time and look out for facts. Search for facts
03:29online or ask an expert but do not look for opinions that may be biased or polarizing
03:36that end up generating panic and fake news. So please be cautious and follow the protocol.
03:43That's it.
