"We oppose each other but we are not enemies." On Sushma Swaraj's 69th birth anniversary, here's a lookback at a light-hearted moment in Parliament, when she was all praise even for her opponents.

00:00I am saying this very lovingly, my brother Kamal Nath used to confuse this assembly with his mischief and respected Shindeji used to solve it with his decency.
00:13And the modesty of Soniaji who is sitting in between this mischief and decency, the tolerance of respected Prime Ministerji, your tolerance and justice of Advaniji can run this assembly.
00:31And today, I would like to remind my ex-leader of the assembly, respected Pranam Mukherjee,
00:38whose faith in democratic institutions has helped run this assembly.
00:46This has happened because there is a feeling at the core of Indian democracy.
00:53And what is that feeling?
00:54That feeling is that we are opponents of each other but not enemies.
01:00And we oppose on the basis of ideology.
01:04We oppose on the basis of policies.
01:07We oppose on the basis of programs.
01:10There are different ideologies, different policies are made, different programs are made by the government.
01:17We criticize that.
01:19That criticism is also different.
01:21But even the most different criticism does not interfere in the personal relations of each other in Indian democracy.
01:29As the president of the BJP, I used to go to meet Advaniji.
01:35He always used to give me only one instruction.
01:38To behave according to the dignity of the assembly.
01:41He always gave me instructions beyond the politics of the assembly.
01:46And today, I would like to accept the truth that the role that I was able to play as a leader,
01:52was because of the blessings of respected Advaniji.
01:58President, now we are going to the elections.
02:02While going to the elections, I should have given the blessings of victory to everyone.
02:08But if I do that, it will be untrue.
02:13That is why I am not able to give the blessings of victory.
02:18But I will give the blessings of victory to everyone.
02:23I would like all of us to fight the elections with victory.
02:27And I am a fan of yours.
02:30I have told you many times in my personal life,
02:35that your nature and the absence of anger in that nature,
02:40play the biggest role in running this assembly.
02:45That is why I would like to say,
02:48that all of us should fight the elections with victory.
02:51The people should win and send them.
02:53The people should win and send them.
02:56Because in democracy, the people's court is the biggest court.
03:00It makes the decision of victory and defeat.
