00:00Hi Cosmo, I'm Robin Tamintuan, a color analyst, and this is Women at Work.
00:17I usually start my day by going to the gym in the morning, which also means that preparation
00:23before that would mean trying to sleep as early as I can the night before.
00:27I feel like going to the gym in the morning allows me to free my mind and focus on building
00:34strength because when we do a color analysis, we're on our feet the whole time and we have
00:39to make sure that we bring the right kind of energy when we're working with clients.
00:45In doing color analysis, we meet different kinds of clients from different walks of life
00:50who are looking for improvement in their lives and are taking proactive steps in doing so.
00:55So when I meet them, it's me being able to help them identify what their goal is and
01:01how we want color analysis to be helpful for them and how them understanding what works
01:07for them in building a better image for themselves, whether through clothing or makeup, helps them
01:13walk more confidently moving forward and be smarter about decisions they make for how
01:18they look and how they present themselves.
01:20As a color analyst, I studied over 40 hours in Korea.
01:24We use a 12-season color palette system with 213 precisely calibrated color cloths for draping.
01:31In a week, I see around 15 clients with each session running for 90 minutes.
01:37So ever since, I've always been a makeup girlie.
01:40It's always been a passion of mine, but I wasn't able to pursue it as a professional career.
01:45But even in my group of friends, I'd always be the person who'd be first to buy certain things
01:51because I'm really interested in how certain makeup products work, how they look.
01:56And applying it on myself, I'm also able to show my friends and help them out for when
02:01they need to glam up or style up a little bit more.
02:04But that passion also came with a lot of expenses.
02:08So when I started working, a lot of my budget, to my mother's disappointment, was on buying
02:14makeup products.
02:15But the trial and error was always there.
02:17So I'd always find myself having a purgatory of products that were promising or were marketed
02:25really well, but didn't really suit me.
02:28And I realized that not a lot of information is actually available that allows an individual
02:33to know what really suits them the best.
02:36And so when I heard about color analysis, it immediately made me think about how this
02:43would be so helpful in cutting down on that trial and error.
02:46Because we, like females, like each person is very unique.
02:51We all look very different.
02:53Things that make us beautiful, things that suit us.
02:56And so learning that color analysis brings it down to you as an individual, made me think
03:01that this is a worth it endeavor and that there would be a lot of insights that would
03:05be very helpful, not just for me, but also for all the other women, for all the other
03:09people who care about their appearance.
03:10Ready?
03:11Yes.
03:13Not TMI?
03:14No.
03:15Okay.
03:16So to do a color analysis the proper way, our lights are calibrated now to neutral.
03:23So see how different you look on neutral lighting.
03:26It's good now.
03:27So when we do a color analysis where the goal really is to find what are the colors that
03:32best complement each individual, it first really begins with understanding what this
03:37individual looks like.
03:38This part is the assessment phase.
03:40So we take measurements of the features.
03:43So the raw ingredients we're working with.
03:45So this is measuring the skin so that we can identify exactly how light or how dark the
03:50skin is, how much yellowness or redness is present in their skin.
03:53We also measure and estimate what is the depth of the iris of the eyes.
03:58And we also measure what is their hair depth in terms of color, whether that's color treated
04:03hair or their natural hair.
04:05By doing that, we're able to make certain estimates based on principle of those measurements,
04:11be able to identify what their contrast level is.
04:14And then from there, we go on to draping.
04:17So think pumpkin, pumpkin spice.
04:23So your skin looks great here.
04:26It actually brightens your skin.
04:28In the draping process, there's two stages.
04:30So it's very systematic.
04:32The first stage is called seasonal draping.
04:36This is where our goal is to narrow down the choices among the 12 seasonal color palettes
04:41to figure out which ones show the best potential for each client.
04:45And this allows us then to focus or to know exactly where to focus on when we go in depth
04:51to dive into like more of those colors.
04:54When you go to the in-depth draping, we're able to look at different tones as they relate
04:59to value, how light or how dark these colors are, including their level of intensity from
05:05very intense and vivid to then the opposite end where colors are more muted and more subtle.
05:10In this stage, we're able to do a kind of like head-to-head comparison across different
05:16tones to find if certain colors work best for an individual at a certain tone more than
05:22others.
05:23As kind of like also a consistency check, we're able to determine whether the person's
05:27undertone does well on certain color undertones and so on.
05:32By the end of that, we'll basically know already in which season this person is in, including
05:38which sub-season works best for them.
05:40Time check, it's now 5pm and my day is actually done.
05:45So we've seen clients today, I've gone to the gym today, and all that's left for me
05:50to do is to clean up a bit here, refresh the things, and then meet my husband and choose
05:57a place where we want to have dinner.
05:59If I were to summarize what I've been able to accomplish in the last 12 months, pretty
06:05much we started with color analysis here in BGC and 10 months into that, doing that initially
06:14as a sideline, 10 months into that, now I am actually doing this as my full-time job,
06:21full-time passion project, and have been so far able to help a lot of women and men
06:27alike from across all ages, from teenagers up to as old as 71 years old.
06:34Doing color analysis has allowed me to expand my own understanding of what people define
06:41as success and how there is not one track to become successful as an adult, to have
06:47financial independence, and to achieve freedom in the way that individuals would personally
06:53define it.
06:54So for me at the moment, freedom looks a lot like slow mornings where I can take my time,
07:01read a book, drink coffee, go to the gym, spend time with my family, and then of course
07:08on to work.
07:09I think a lot of people have very good ideas, but they struggle with how to start or when
07:14to start.
07:16A lot of us are very siguristas at heart where we want things to look or to be perfect or
07:23to be packaged a certain way before we start, when really starting is the most important
07:29step.
07:30Done is better than perfect.
07:31I think each step you take, as long as it's a step forward, is better than delaying and
07:37not starting because you're unsure whether it's going to work or not.
07:40So the mindset of everything being a test just allows you to take that step with the
07:45courage that whatever the outcome is of that thing you're testing, it's only going to move
07:50you forward some more because you're learning about your market, you're learning about your
07:54audience, you're learning about your hypothesis being right or wrong, or being accurate or
07:59not accurate, and then allows you to come back the next day with a better plan, a better
08:05test, and then see how it goes.
08:11A more orange-y lip tone for you, then keen would be perfect, but because we're in the
08:17reddish-brown area, lady would be the best.
08:21The most fulfilling part is when the insight sparks action.
08:27You'd be surprised, there would still be a lot of people who are so afraid to take action
08:32and they're more comfortable keeping things as usual, not rocking the boat.
08:39So with caller analysis, each person that signs up for a caller analysis is already
08:44a person who's decided to take action.
08:47They're looking for that information.
08:49And so it's very fulfilling that I'm able to meet those kinds of people and that each
08:55recommendation I make, they really take to heart.
08:58And so some of these clients have now become friends who message me often, even when, for
09:03example, a sale is coming up, they would message me and ask for my second opinion and so on.
09:09So it's very, it's truly fulfilling and inspiring how that kind of like builds these relationships
09:17past those caller analysis sessions.
09:20So this first year for the business has been nothing but amazing.
09:23In the last 10 months that we've been running, we've offered only one service called caller
09:28analysis and have pursued partnerships with different brands for very relevant executions,
09:36like for makeup, clothing, etc.
09:40Now that we're in 2025, I'm very happy and proud to say that improvements are coming
09:47along as we go.
09:49Number one is we've opened a second studio in Angeles, Pampanga.
09:53This allows us to expand our market outside of the general metro Manila.
09:57The second new thing that's come up is an additional service that we have now to complement
10:01the caller analysis service.
10:03So this is called face and body analysis, which is basically being able to take measurements
10:08of an individual's face and body and this being used as data to complement their colors
10:13to know what styles actually suit a person based on their face shape, based on the shape
10:19on their body, only with the goal of honoring these shapes and making sure that we're able
10:24to create balance in how they look.
10:27If you want to learn more about color analysis or if color analysis is actually right for
10:32you, feel free to look for us on our socials in Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
10:36And thank you for giving this feature, hopefully to encourage other women to pursue business
10:42and pursue their passion and become successful.
10:45Bye, Cosmo!
