00:00The job market is bad, even for those with industry experience.
00:03So what about those who are just now entering the job market like Gen Z?
00:06Around 2 million young people are about to graduate and start looking for jobs this year alone.
00:11Many of those 2 million had their eyes on government jobs,
00:14hoping to get into public service, namely due to the stability associated with that work.
00:18However, after Elon Musk, Doge, and the Trump administration's axing of tens of thousands
00:23of federal jobs across all agencies, with more than 171,000 additional job cuts planned,
00:29things aren't looking good for young people looking for work.
00:32Insider reports that some have had their postgraduate offers at federal agencies revoked.
00:36Meanwhile, in the private sector, things aren't going well either.
00:40Private businesses with government contracts, non-profits, universities,
00:43you name it, all rely on federal funding. Federal funding which has now been revoked.
00:48So what's the plan? Go back to school for a graduate degree?
00:51Well, that could be an issue as well, as Donald Trump's executive order to
00:54dismantle the Department of Education may also dismantle, or at least hinder,
00:58student loan programs across the board.
