Synopsis :
Georges, un Français, travaille dans un bistrot new-yorkais. En situation illégale, il rêve d'obtenir un permis de travail. Brontë, une Américaine passionnée d'horticulture et de botanique, est employée comme paysagiste dans les quartiers pauvres de la ville. Son rêve : un appartement avec jardin. Un ami commun, Anton, les convainc tous deux de contracter un mariage blanc : Georges obtiendrait ainsi la fameuse "green card" et Brontë, l'appartement qu'elle convoite et que seul un couple marié peut louer. Mais les autorités, méfiantes, les obligent à vivre ensemble 48 heures pour s'assurer qu'il ne s'agit pas d'un mariage factice....
