00:00The key word here I want us to highlight, dear brothers and sisters, is As-Saliheen, the righteous ones.
00:06Look at the criteria that was set by Allah.
00:09We are talking about the bedrock, we are talking about the pillow of the marriage,
00:12we are talking about what will last and survive the test of time.
00:16Marriage is a journey that is filled with challenges
00:21where you are required to make some very tough decisions sometimes in that marital relationship.
00:27And we as human beings, we make decisions on the basis of values that we have.
00:33And us Muslims, the most important value for us is Islam and the pleasure of Allah.
00:39Therefore, the more Islam you share with your spouse,
00:43the easier it will be to make those difficult decisions in life
00:47because you are both singing from the same hymn sheet.
00:49But when the bedrock of religion is missing,
00:53or you guys are at completely different levels
00:56because you didn't take it into consideration when getting married,
00:58making those decisions in life becomes very complicated.
01:01Basic questions may cause a dispute,
01:04like which school are we going to send our children to?
01:07Are we going to save up money for Hajj next year or not?
01:10Basic questions like halal and haram food, where should we be eating from?
01:14Income, how are we making money in this household?
01:17Basic questions becomes a source of fighting.
01:19Look at how the messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
01:23has emphasized the importance of finding righteousness in the male,
01:27finding righteousness in the female.
01:29The relationship cannot truly be successful and properly prosper Islamically
01:35if one of those two are missing.
