Meet some of the lego enthusiasts who brought their colourful displays to the Blackpool brick festival.
Transcript
00:00I've seen adults come in here during the day and they've gone from being adults and they've
00:06got all those kind of adult worries you have on the outside and they've come in and they've
00:09just sat and played like they did when they were kids.
00:12Basically it's just a celebration of everything LEGO.
00:16So we have everything from displayers, builders that come and bring their amazing MOCs and
00:22then we also have vendors that come and sell everything from Pocket Money LEGO all the
00:27way up to really rare retired sets.
00:29It started about two years ago and I just thought, oh I can make the Olympic rings out
00:34of LEGO.
00:35I thought, oh that looks quite good.
00:36And then I saw that LEGO, as part of London 2012, they released nine official TNGV minifigures
00:42and then one idea led to another, led to another, led to another.
00:46London 2012, that was the year after I finished my A-Levels, just before university, so I
00:51had a whole summer off, so I spent the whole summer just watching the Olympics pretty much
00:55non-stop and it really did inspire me.
00:58I took up rowing at university because of that and I got into cycling much more seriously
01:03because of London 2012 as well.
01:05I lost count after 20,000.
01:07I don't want to know how much more than that there is in the build.
01:11It's three and a half metres across in total and it's 75 centimetres deep.
01:16It started about nine years ago and I was just sat in my living room with my daughter,
01:21building from a bucket of LEGO and Star Trek came on the TV and I looked at the shape and
01:26I just said, I really like that one.
01:28My daughter, innocent as anything, turned around and said to me, well why don't you
01:31build it daddy?
01:33So I sat there and I started building the prototype ship and from that point on I've
01:37just continued and built every ship I ever wanted.
01:40It was a passion project but yes, I do find it very relaxing just sitting there and playing.
01:44I love an engineering challenge.
01:45It's been one of those things where I'll sit in an evening and I'll just literally play
01:49with a box of grey bricks and just start building them up or I'll see something on a newer show
01:54that I liked, I'll go, I want one of them and I'll just start building it from scratch.
01:58There are some evenings where I've literally come down out of bed, there's some things
02:01in my head, I need to get it out and I've started building them.
