A new exhibition at the national museum in Canberra is promising to captivate - and educate – visitors. About the little-known history of aboriginal Chinese Australia. Blending contemporary artwork with archival material, 'Our Story' offers a powerful example of 'truth telling'.

00:07A new exhibition at the National Museum in Canberra is setting the record straight on Aboriginal Chinese Australia.
00:14There's an extreme lack of knowledge about Chinese Aboriginal relationships.
00:19A lot of people don't know that Chinese Aboriginal people exist.
00:25You know, this is part of making it household knowledge.
00:29Curated by artist Zhou Xiaoping, our story features work from eight contemporary artists of mixed descent.
00:37Their reflections and celebrations of ancestral familial and cultural connections range from Jason Wing's stenciled self-portraits.
00:46I wanted to combine the Chinese paper cutting technique with the Aboriginal ochre spraying technique.

01:09There are also dozens of archival documents and photos, plus personal accounts and oral histories drawn from more than 100 interviews.
01:17They're really thankful to see someone can bring this one in life and to tell the public we're still here.
