00:00What's your reaction to them now targeting cultural exports in the United States?
00:04I think I've heard of worse things.
00:12Yes, worse.
00:14And we're working with a lot of different countries, and it's all going to work out very well.
00:19I think it's going to work out really very well, but we're in good shape.
00:23There's no inflation. There's very little inflation.
00:25And I went four years without inflation, and I tariffed.
00:30I took in hundreds of billions of dollars from China and others, taxes in China.
00:35But we took in hundreds of billions of dollars a year from China, and we had no inflation, essentially.
00:43Well, I haven't seen it because I've been here for two and a half hours, so I'll be seeing it.
00:48I think Scott went out. Scott, do you want to have a statement on that?
00:51Sure. Look, the up two, down one is not a bad ratio.
00:57We're up ten, down five.
00:59And I think as we have talked about, as we go through the queue and settle with these countries
01:07who are going to bring us their best offers,
01:09we will end up in a place of great certainty over the next 90 days on tariffs.
01:16But we had very good inflation numbers today. Oil is down. We had a successful bond market.
01:22So I don't see anything unusual today.
01:25And next steps for China, sir?
01:27Well, we'll see what happens with China.
01:30We would love to be able to work a deal.
01:33They've really taken advantage of our country for a long period of time.
01:38They've ripped us off beyond anybody, nobody.
01:42How people stood for it, sitting in my position, is not even believable.
01:48And we're talking about many presidents, not just a couple.
01:52But they did, and all we're doing is putting it back in shape.
01:56We're resetting the table.
01:57And I'm sure that we'll be able to get along very well.
02:03I have great respect for President Xi.
02:04He's been, in a true sense, he's been a friend of mine for a long period of time.
02:09And I think that we'll end up working out something that's very good for both countries.
02:15I look forward to it.
02:16Mr. President, China retaliated today by reducing the number of American films that can be shown there.
02:22What's your reaction to them now targeting cultural exports from the United States?
02:26I think I've heard of worse things.
02:34Yes, worse.
02:36Certain advantages that others don't have, certain things.
02:40We have some, China has a surplus of a trillion dollars.
02:46I mean, the numbers are crazy.
02:49And others have basically no surpluses.
02:53You know, we have some that are pretty even, but they hurt us in other ways, and we just want to get that taken care of.
02:58So it's, everyone is a little bit different.
03:01So, President Xi, but do you negotiate with the EU as one bloc or individual nations for the trip for the tariffs?
03:08We're looking at it as one bloc.
03:11They've been very tough, but they were very smart.
03:14They were ready to announce retaliation.
03:18And then they heard about what we did with respect to China and others, but China.
03:24And they said, you know, we're going to hold back a little bit.
03:27They decided to hold back.
03:30I thought they were very smart.
03:31Look, the EU is very smart.
03:32But they really have taken advantage of the United States.
03:36They were formed for the purpose of taking advantage of the United States.
03:41And I don't blame them, and I don't blame China.
03:44I don't blame anybody.
03:45I blame the people that were sitting at that desk in that other beautiful Oval Office for allowing it to happen.
03:50Many presidents I blame.
03:52They should have never allowed it to happen.
03:55And I'm doing something that a lot of them wouldn't want to do.
03:58But I'm here, I do those things, and we're going to make this country great again.
04:03We were taken advantage of by almost everybody.
04:07I sat back in the last administration.
