00:00Republicans did just what their boss told them to do.
00:04They closed their eyes and voted for a bill knowing damn well
00:08it will explode the deficit by $52 trillion and kick millions off health care.
00:15They voted it knowing damn well that American families lose and billionaires win.
00:21Now, a few moments ago, House Republicans plowed ahead on a morally and financially bankrupt plan
00:31to gut Medicaid while cutting taxes for billionaires.
00:36Republicans did just what their boss told them to do.
00:40They closed their eyes and voted for a bill knowing damn well
00:44it will explode the deficit by $52 trillion and kick millions off health care.
00:51They voted it knowing damn well that American families lose and billionaires win.
00:58They voted for it knowing damn well it would gut critical investments for the American people.
01:05They voted for it knowing damn well it would mortgage our nation's future
01:09to deliver massive giveaways to the wealthiest Americans in the country.
01:15Republicans incinerated any credibility that remained about them supposedly being the party of fiscal responsibility.
01:25Last week, we sounded the alarm about how the Republican budget resolution
01:30was the definition of wasteful spending, $37 trillion, or so we thought of the national debt.
01:37I say, or so we thought, because this morning we have discovered it's even worse than we feared.
01:48This morning, the Congressional Budget Office, at Jeff's request, released a new projection
01:55showing Republicans' billionaire tax giveaways will actually add $52 trillion to the debt,
02:03not just $37 plus.
02:05It's gotten even worse, even worse.
02:10Why?
02:12Because Republicans in the Senate didn't just copy and paste the 2017 Trump tax bill.
02:18They added over a trillion more.
02:21This is the Trump tax scam on steroids, and it's going to bankrupt America, bankrupt America,
02:29all so they can give these tax breaks to the billionaires.
02:32It is just incredible.
02:34To repeat, today Republicans are plowing forward on their deeply unpopular agenda.
02:39While Elon Musk and Doge dismantle Social Security, Congressional Republicans are slashing Medicaid,
02:48all the while cutting taxes for billionaires, adding $52 trillion to the debt.
02:54The many individual pieces of the Republican agenda are bad on their own,
03:00but when they're put together, they're utterly toxic.
03:04The struggles Republicans have faced so far are only a glimmer of what's to come,
03:09if they had it hard on the budget resolution,
03:12imagine how hard it's going to be on reconciliation,
03:15with all their contradictory promises clashing with each other.
03:20It's no wonder there are shambles.
03:22It's no wonder that Senate Republicans are fighting with each other,
03:26that House Republicans are fighting with each other,
03:28and House and Senate Republicans are fighting with each other,
03:31because their agenda is so unpopular.
03:35Different segments of the party each want to run away from different parts of this agenda.
03:39But none of it is popular.
03:41It's amazing.
03:43They're doing what a small group of billionaires want,
03:46against the American people's interest, against what America needs.
03:52So today and going forward, the only question that matters is this.
03:57Are they really going to sign their names to a bill that adds $52 trillion to the debt,
04:03slashes Medicaid, all so that billionaires can pay less in taxes?
04:08With Donald Trump changing his Tara strategy like it's some kind of game of red light, green light,
04:15do Republicans seriously believe now is a good time to saddle our children with debt
04:20that they'll never be able to pay off?
04:22If Republicans ultimately pass their reconciliation bill,
04:26interest rates in the future will soar.
04:29America's greatness will diminish, perhaps never recover.
04:32It will be a great decline in the American dream.
04:37So much for Republicans being the party of fiscal responsibility.
04:41That's out the window.
04:43And the worst part is that the Republicans can't even be honest with the American people
04:47about how expensive their bill is.
04:50Republicans continue to pursue budget fraud through this current policy baseline,
04:55something the Senate has never, never used before in reconciliation.
04:59In fact, when they tried it back in 2017, it was rejected.
05:04They avoided the question last week, but make no mistake about it.
05:11They're now full speed ahead on breaking the rules of the Senate
05:15and breaking their word to get it done.
05:19Why are Republicans doing it?
05:20It's simple.
05:21They want to cut taxes for billionaires and make our kids pay for it.
