00:05Rodrigo Duterte's Senate bets see a rise in their numbers in a recent Pulse Asia survey
00:17Senate President Cheez Escudero rebukes Aimee Marcos for using the Senate for her re-election
00:23campaign. Foreign Secretary Enrique Manalo says the Philippines' arrest of Rodrigo Duterte is
00:29not covered by the U.S. sanctions versus ICC. Pasig City Mayor Vico Soto slams a smear campaign
00:35that involves persons with disabilities. And Leyte Mayoral Bet, Gruen Espinoza, says a big
00:41politician masterminded his attack. Senatorial candidates backed by former President Rodrigo
00:49Duterte saw a rise in voter support after he was sent to The Hague to face crimes against humanity.
00:54This, according to a Pulse Asia Research Inc. survey released on Friday, April 11.
01:01Senator Bong Goh, Duterte's longtime aide, takes the top spot with 61.9% voter preference,
01:0710 percentage points higher than administration bet Erwin Tulfo, who got 51.1%.
01:13Tulfo's numbers dropped from 62.8% in January 2025 to 56.5% in February 2025.
01:21Senator Bato De La Rosa's preference number rises by 4 percentage points to 48.7%,
01:28placing him in second to third in the March 2025 survey.
01:32Other Duterte bets with rise in their numbers enough to enter the quote,
01:35probable winner's circle include Philip Salvador and Rodante Marcoleta.
01:40Meantime, presidential sister Aimee Marcos had the most loss with her numbers dropping from 46.3%
01:46in January 2025 to 27.6% in March 2025.
01:52Independent candidates, Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan, meantime, see their numbers stay mostly the same.
01:59Senate President Cheese Escudero calls out Senator Aimee Marcos for allegedly using the Senate to support her re-election campaign,
02:06saying it damages the institution's credibility.
02:09Escudero issues a statement the day after Marcos accused him of refusing to sign the contempt order for Marcos Lacanilau,
02:16the envoy who represented the Philippines during former President Rodrigo Duterte's surrender to the International Criminal Court.
02:22He says under the Senate rules, quote,
02:24the power of the committee chairperson to order the arrest or detention of any resource person cited in contempt
02:30is subject to the approval of the Senate President.
02:32He also says, quote,
02:34I did not refuse to sign the contempt order of Ambassador Marcos Lacanilau.
02:39Senator Marcos released her statement and flaunted to the media her signed arrest and detention order,
02:43even before I could see, much less, receive a copy of it.
02:48Escudero emphasizes he will not allow the Senate or the office of the Senate President
02:52to be used for further political interests, especially by those seeking re-election.
02:56Meantime, Justice Department officials say an internal memorandum shown by Marcos in a committee hearing was,
03:02quote, fake and manufactured.
03:05The senator now dismisses the document as, quote, not material.
03:10Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo says former President Rodrigo Duterte's arrest by Philippine authorities
03:16will not be covered by U.S. President Donald Trump's sanctions against those helping the International Criminal Court.
03:22We have cooperated with Interpol.
03:23That's why I don't believe we fall under that U.S. executive order.
03:28Trump signed an executive order last February to sanction people who help ICC investigations.
03:34The move aims to protect U.S. ally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,
03:38who faces an ICC arrest order over the bombings in Gaza.
03:42Human rights lawyers are worried that Trump's executive order is worded so vaguely it could apply even to Filipinos.
03:49This is what Senators Aimee Marcos and Bato Dalarosa are proposing,
03:53with Dalarosa saying that the plane owners that flew Duterte to The Hague could have their U.S. assets frozen.
04:00Plastic City Mayor Vico Soto speaks out against a smear campaign on social media where people,
04:06including a woman with a mental disability,
04:08were made to film videos criticizing his administration while lining up for charity.
04:13In a Facebook post on Thursday afternoon, April 10,
04:15Soto pointed out that some individuals seem willing to do anything for money and power.
04:20Citing Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gachalian's interview,
04:24Soto says the department is looking into the, quote,
04:26systematic exploitation of PWDs and senior citizens in a negative political campaign in Pasig City.
04:33In a video posted on the Facebook page, the journal Pasig, which has since been taken down,
04:37a woman is seen answering questions from someone off-camera.
04:40She says she hasn't received aid or her PWD pension and hoped for a rise from the local government.
04:46When asked if she will vote for Mayor Soto again, she says not anymore and named his rival,
04:52Sara Deskaya, as her choice.
04:54I'm calling out this dirty page, said Facebook user Malaya Scarlet,
04:58reported by ABS-CBN to be the woman's relative.
05:01She adds, quote,
05:02In a statement posted on Diskaya's Facebook page, April 11,
05:14Team Kaya This said it would cooperate fully with the authorities in their investigation.

05:41In an interview with Rappler, Albuere Leyte mayoral candidate Kerwin Espinoza
05:45says his attackers are policemen.
05:48He adds, a big politician masterminded the attack.
05:50There are some penetrators or gunmen.
05:58When the names are released, they're police.
06:07They're not people of orderly.
06:10They're police.
06:11He also says his campaign staff was warned by an unidentified individual
06:15that he would not survive to see the end of the election period.
06:18There was a message to him that I'm not going to be able to go to the election.
06:27If I finish the election, I'm going to be angry.
06:35Espinoza was shot on Thursday, April 10,
06:37while campaigning at the gymnasium of Barangay Tinagaan in Albuere Town, Leyte.
06:42He also claims that the attack was, quote, budgeted.
