00:00Today we're at the 1532 Theatre in Bristol and we're about to start our production of Fame with minor to major.
00:09M2M Productions, in support with Bristol Grammar School, has brought Fame the Musical to life in 2025.
00:20This opportunity gives teenage performers the chance to work with industry professionals for training, guidance and support.
00:27Let's find out more from some of these teenagers who successfully auditioned for the production.
00:34The announcement came out early summer and we had to send in a self-tape basically saying who we are, what sort of role we want to play, why we want to be a part of the show.
00:43And then we had to send in a self-tape, just a song. And then you either got rejected or called for a recall round.
00:50Luckily I was asked for a recall round so we came in and we basically had to sing a song from the show,
00:56perform it in front of the panel and then we did a bit of acting and then after that they basically, late August I think it was,
01:02found out our roles and then in September we were rehearsing.
01:05Yeah, it's been really fun having to like alter the character because there's like certain words and things that he says
01:11that sort of just doesn't work and it's been fun changing very, very slight characteristics and movements just to make it more believable.
01:21It's an amazing show. It's about these young group of kids who have auditioned to go into this performing arts school
01:26and they've auditioned and worked so hard to get there and then it follows them throughout their three years.
01:33Fame is an international sensation that continues to reach new generations of performers and audience members.
01:41The show provides great opportunities to feature a diverse talent pool and showcase artistic mediums.
01:48It's so nice because, same for myself but from everybody else, it's something that we love doing and it's not like a chore to come and do rehearsals.
01:58It's quite nice because I am doing my A-levels so it's a nice excuse not to do revision this week.
02:03But yeah, it's just a relax from everything even though you have the whole stressful show experience like getting ready, remembering your lines and stuff.
02:10That's all the fun but that's the whole part of the process which is so fun.
02:13We split mainly into three separate groups. We've got the dance students, the acting students and the music students.
02:18Sometimes we're only called in if we're a music student, sometimes we're only called in a dance student and things like that.
02:23So we'll have like two and a half hours on a Tuesday where we'll either dedicate our time to...
02:30We had one lesson where I was able to learn the trumpet. I had a trumpet lesson and Evie was able to have a drums lesson which was very, very cool.
02:39It's been such a lovely process. Basically we rehearse on Tuesdays and Sundays and it's just we go through the show.
02:47But as you're going through the show you basically get like professional experience. That's the whole good thing about this production company.
