00:24Y ella me dijo, ¡Daleon!
00:26Y I just bounced from house to house, you know, I was in over like at least 35 foster homes.
00:32And then the minute there was a problem, they moved him.
00:35If someone had just given him a chance, he would have done well.
00:39Every foster child has trauma.
00:42They've been through something, they've been either abused physically, sexually, mentally, emotionally, doesn't matter.
00:48Instead of saying to a child, do you want to be adopted?
00:51How about, do you believe that you deserve to have one person care about you?
00:57Deep down, I still wanted a family.
01:00Even though, like, as I got older, I'm like, wow, I'm probably never going to find a family.
01:04So that was just remarkable for me to just see him say, you know, I'm not, instead of aging out,
01:09I'm going to do anything I can to get a family.
01:11He didn't have anything written down.
01:13And I don't know if he'd rehearsed it with Connie, but he just, he kind of got up there, you know,
01:18and said he wanted a mom or a dad.
01:20He didn't care if they were black, brown, white, purple.
01:22He would take anybody.
01:24I just spoke from the heart.
01:25And I'm like, well, you know, I'm up here.
01:26I might as well have them listen to how I feel.
01:28Just lay it out there.
01:29So I did.
01:30He was taking his life into his own hands and saying, I want a family.
01:34I want to be adopted.
01:36After I spoke, I'm like, man, nothing's really going to happen.
01:38You know, I'm like, I'm just going to go back to foster care.
01:40I'm probably going to age out, but I guess it's something, I did something good
01:43to try to give myself a chance.
01:45She wrote the story.
01:47It came out on like a Monday or Tuesday.
01:49You know, it got picked up by newspapers and TV stations all over the country.
01:53Then it turned into this whole spectacle, like, oh my God, he is the,
01:58the, the graveyard effect and all that.
02:01I'm like, I haven't done anything.
02:10I haven't done anything.
