Wolves vs Spurs - Nathan Judah and Ollie Westbury preview
Transcript
00:00Hello, I'm Nathan Jude and I'm here with the better looking version of Mr Liam Keane, Wolves reporter for the day, Mr Oli Westbury.
00:18Oli, we just heard from Vito Pereira, head of the big game against Spurs on Sunday and, as you'd expect, he's full of the joys of spring, going for their fourth consecutive Premier League win.
00:27Yeah, he was. I've not actually had the... I covered for Liam at Bournemouth a few weeks ago and I spoke to Nelson Samedo instead, so I wasn't actually in that press conference.
00:38That's the first time I've really seen him and he's quite the character, isn't he? It's quite an entertaining half an hour that we had in his company this afternoon.
00:45So yeah, he kind of came in, didn't he, with his notes, prepared for the questions that he was going to ask and then basically just threw him away and said, I can't read these anyway.
00:53Score for tantrum, he's fine.
00:54Yeah, yeah, but he, you know, he was on jolly good form when, to be fair, you'd expect him to be, wouldn't you, you know?
00:58Yeah.
00:59In pretty good form.
00:59Yeah, no, absolutely. And look, I think the main emphasis and the message from him to the players is they don't want them to relax, can't relax,
01:07because if they do, if they're complacent, they'll lose this game. And look, they're still targets this season, aren't they?
01:11You know, Wolves might not finish 17th, they'll be higher than 17th all season, but you start looking at the likes of Everton, Spurs,
01:17who of course are coming on Sunday, Manchester United even, you're thinking, you know, maybe they could finish a little bit higher than that in the table.
01:24Yeah, it feels like that for the vast majority of this season, Wolves have spent the entirety of it looking over their shoulder,
01:29whereas it now feels like they're starting to look up, aren't they?
01:31They're starting to look up and it's about where, how high could they finish, not can we get away from those relegation zones after that, you know,
01:40that fight or win, obviously, last week at Ipswich. So, I suppose everything's in a really good place at the moment.
01:47You just, they'll just want to make sure that they don't, that they don't relax, that they're not complacent.
01:51Obviously, it's a big game, you know, they're the kind of games, aren't they, that supporters want to come and watch, you know,
01:57Spurs are obviously a Europa League side, obviously they've played on Thursday and obviously they've been in a bit of strife.
02:02They'll all see it as an opportunity to be able to get some points, won't they? I mean, absolutely, it's winnable, 100%.
02:07Yeah, absolutely, yeah. I mean, look, Vita Perot said that he's expecting Spurs to make changes.
02:11I think we're all expecting Spurs to make changes, of course, the midway through that tie against Frankfurt in the Europa League.
02:18But that's a great chance for Wolves, you know, this is a side who are up for it, who are playing as a team.
02:22And of course, the big question, the big question that everybody wants to know,
02:25and we didn't think we'd get an answer, but we did, was whether Matthias Cunha is going to start on Sunday.
02:31Yeah, I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when that conversation happened, wouldn't you?
02:35But yes, obviously, Matthias Cunha will not play for Wolves, well, will be in the squad, so you imagine, not from the start.
02:41So I imagine he will come off the bench at some stage, but what a luxury to be able to have that kind of player,
02:46you know, in your squad and obviously not in the starting XI.
02:51It's probably fair, would you say? I mean, what would you have done?
02:55Absolutely, I mean, look, you know, Matthias Cunha, he's not coming back from an injury,
02:58he's coming back from a suspension, his second suspension of the season.
03:01You know, you've gone four games unbeaten, three of those in a win, you know,
03:04going for history for four wins in a row.
03:07And yeah, I mean, why would you change a winning side?
03:09What kind of message does that send?
03:10So yes, arguably he's your best player, your best individual player,
03:13but like you say, what a luxury to come off the bench.
03:15And you look at Martial Manezzi, you look at Jean-Ric de Bellegarde,
03:17can you drop one of them?
03:18Very, very difficult to do that.
03:21Jürgen Stran Larsson has been unlocked, so to speak,
03:24and that's a lot to do with that team and the team that's playing around him.
03:27So I don't think he can have any complaints whatsoever.
03:30No, no, I agree.
03:32He's in this position because he's put himself in this position, I suppose,
03:34because of that ill discipline that he showed you,
03:36that clash with Miloš Kerkers at Bournemouth just quite a long time ago.
03:39And, you know, that could have put Wolves in a really difficult position.
03:43You know, obviously at that stage they had important games coming up,
03:46but they've managed to kind of bounce back from that thing.
03:48And obviously he was asked about that, wasn't he, Vitor Pereira,
03:51about, you know, did he kind of, could he have dreamt
03:55that this kind of, that they would be in this position?
03:59And obviously he said that, you know, he had confidence in the team
04:02that they would be able to cope without Mateus Cunha.
04:05Now, would you have expected them to have done quite as well as they have done?
04:10Probably not, but, you know, fair play to them.
04:12You know, they've kind of, against, I suppose, up against all the odds
04:16with their best player missing, they've managed to rally around and get some results.
04:19Yeah, and a clean bill of health apart from one player who won't be involved tomorrow.
04:23Yeah, Pedro Lima has gone over on his ankle today in training,
04:26so, yeah, he's not going to be involved.
04:29But aside from that, it seems like everybody else is in good health
04:32and in good working order for the clash against me.
04:34Yep, so we all know what the team's going to be.
04:35It's going to be the same team as it has been for the last...
04:37It's strange, isn't it?
04:38It's amazing, amazing.
04:39It's like Ben Stokes and the England team, they all name it, like, three days before.
04:43He's, like, named his team.
04:44What is he going to...
04:45I think that's a good thing.
04:45It's obviously working, they're unsettled, they know their roles,
04:48they know what jobs they've got to do,
04:49so I think, you know, fair play to him and fair play to those players
04:52who are maybe worried about maybe losing their starting place,
04:55and they haven't.
04:55They're going to start with the same team that have played the last three or four games,
04:58so it's absolutely great news for them.
05:00You know, obviously you're guesting today,
05:02but I still need to know a prediction for the score.
05:05It's Wolves against Spurs.
05:06Mr. Ollie Westbury, don't mess it up.
05:08I think Wolves will win 2-1.
05:10Oh, I love it.
05:10I said 2-1 as well.
05:11Yeah, 2-1.
05:12We didn't even sink that.
05:13No, no, I love it.
05:14That's what I'm going for.
05:15No keen on Sunday either, but we'll have a new reporter.
05:18We'll see who that is.
05:19TBD.
