Punjab Kings defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Hyderabad on April 13. Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bat first. In a batting friendly pitch, Shreyas Iyer's team opted to bat first. Priyansh Arya (36) and Prabhsimran Singh (42) fired them to a solid start and they were set for a big total in the powerplay. Shreyas Iyer (82 off 36 balls) carried the momentum after Arya was dismissed by Harshal Patel (4/42). Eshan Malinga (2/45) scalped the wicket of Prabhsimran Singh, but Nehal Wadhera (27) continued supporting Shreyas from the other end. Harshal Patel and Eshan Malinga were the ones from Sunrisers controlling the damage as they dismissed Nehal, Shashank Singh and Glenn Maxwell to keep themselves in the game. Shreyas meanwhile, continued striking well from one end and powered by the finish from Marcus Stoinis (34*), Punjab Kings reached a total of 245/6. Chasing it, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head gave Sunrisers Hyderabad a great start in the powerplay. Abhishek, specially, kept going and completed his century in just 40 deliveries. He scored a 55-ball 141 and shattered multiple records, Lockie Ferguson's injury also helped Sunrisers in their chase. Despite Head and Abhishek getting dismissed towards the end, Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan took them over the finishing line. This is the second victory for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 and second loss for Punjab Kings.
