A third of Brits are not ‘sleep compatible’ with their partner - due to snoring or duvet hogging - with a fifth frequently using separate rooms.
A poll of 2,000 adults in a relationship revealed 33 per cent with sleep issues admitted it is the biggest problem in their relationship – due to one of them snoring or constantly twitching.
While 30 per cent are kept awake at night due to differing sleep schedules, and 20 per cent have to lie next to a bedsheet hogger.
The research was commissioned by Dreams, which took radio presenter and comedian Chris Stark to hit the streets to uncover firsthand how couples feel about their sleep compatibility – or lack of it.
Stark said: “We all like to think we’re a dream to share a bed with, but let’s be honest – most of us are probably a bit of a nightmare, from snoring, duvet hogging, or taking up the whole bed… or like in my house, having to share my 4am alarms.”

00:00Are you both quite disciplined in the bedroom?
00:02As in, like, are you...
00:04That's what you're asking about.
00:05Are you...
00:06A lot of people, me included, would say sleep is the most important thing.
00:11And a big part of having a good night's sleep is having a good bed-sharing relationship.
00:16One in three Brits apparently are not sleep-compatible with their partner.
00:21So I'm here with Dreams to take that debate from the sheets to the streets.
00:25Here we go.
00:26Sorry, you've got two minutes to talk about sleep.
00:28Are you a couple?
00:29Yeah, yeah, we are.
00:30We are indeed, yes.
00:31Would you say you have good bed-sharing chemistry?
00:34I sleep in, like, the fetal position.
00:35She's a lot smaller, but she takes up a heck of a lot more space than I do.
00:38Yeah, I think so.
00:39Except when someone's trying to kick me if I cross the half-half situation.
00:43Wow, so you're like Border Force.
00:45Exactly.
00:46I would say we're not.
00:47Definitely not.
00:48I'm a very silent light sleeper.
00:50You are a deep sleep-talker, walker, laugher, everything like that.
00:55Pretty much everything.
00:56Who would you say is the most dominant in the bed?
00:59Oh, definitely her.
01:00She takes full the room.
01:01You would be amazed how much of a prawn I can turn myself into.
01:04A what?
01:05A prawn.
01:06I've never heard you say that.
01:07I always called it a prawn because when you get on an aeroplane you call that like a prawn.
01:1023% of people use a mattress that they say is nothing special.
01:14We both like a really firm mattress.
01:15I was going to say, do you like it firm, soft, hard?
01:18How do you like it?
01:19I heard this stat.
01:2028% of people don't get a proper night's sleep because their pillow's a little bit rubbish.
01:23We like to sleep on like a very thin pillow.
01:25But also an occasional switch for the temperature of the pillow.
01:28I need to flip the pillow to the cold side.
01:30I've never even thought of doing that.
01:32We're giving away a pillow to some of our favourite funny stories from the bedroom.
01:36Remember your ex-boyfriend?
01:37Wow, we're going there.
01:39We have two cats.
01:40Jamal actually woke up in the middle of the night because our boy cat was licking his face.
01:45I was thinking, why does Ray keep touching my leg?
01:47It was the cat who got under the duvet.
01:49This is a cooling pillow.
01:51Just a little thank you and have a good night's sleep on us.
01:53Have a proper night's sleep on us, enjoy.
01:55Thank you very much.
01:57I've loved this little insight into people's life.
01:59It gets me thinking that sleep compatibility is really important.
02:03Maybe it's not discussed enough.
02:04With that, I'm probably going to go and get a little nap myself now.
02:07Goodnight everyone.
