In this explosive interview with RT, Tony Yengeni, senior member of South Africa’s African National Congress (ANC) and former MP, boldly states that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is a “warlord” who does not want peace. Yengeni questions why Zelensky would visit South Africa, a nation pushing for diplomatic solutions over war.
🇿🇦 Yengeni expresses concerns about:
– Zelensky’s ongoing push for military escalation
– NATO’s influence in Africa
– The West dragging African nations into foreign conflicts
– Why Zelensky’s visit is seen as controversial
– South Africa’s position on global peace and neutrality
This bold statement reflects growing African resistance to Western narratives and deeper scrutiny over the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

00:00to Tony Yangeni, ANC party veteran, former South African MP and former chief whip of the majority
00:07party of the South African National Assembly. Many thanks for joining us on the program. Very
00:11good to see you today. So first of all, could you share with us your thoughts on Zelensky's
00:17upcoming visit to South Africa? Thank you for inviting me. I want to join all those South
00:26African patriots who are vehemently opposed to this invitation or visit by Zelensky.
00:38I'm wondering what the intentions are inviting this man here. What diplomatic, political, economic,
00:48cultural reasons for us to have this man here, whose country is involved in war? What is
00:57he doing to, what is he coming here for? Okay. And, but whatever the intentions of inviting
01:04this man here, myself and many others are opposed to it, particularly because at whose cost is
01:16coming here? Is it coming here at his own cost? Or is it coming at the cost of South African
01:23taxpayers? What are we paying for? Here is a warlord who does not want peace in his own country,
01:32refuses to engage in any negotiations. Okay. Who has been accused of having killed and murdered
01:41countless Russian speaking Ukrainians in Ukraine? He doesn't want to go to elections. He grabs
01:54young people in the streets and force them into their military. He's a bad guy. And I don't know why
02:01he's coming here. Well, yeah, I mean, what could his goal possibly be? President Ramaphosa say South
02:07Africa is just trying to promote peace here. Do you think this is also Zelensky's goal for the visit?
02:14No, officially the position of South Africa is that of us not taking sides in the war in,
02:23in Ukraine. Okay. Then out of the blue, one side of the conflict is invited to South Africa. For what?
02:32What kind of middle ground are we taking? You are going to be parading Zelensky here. Okay. What
02:41about Russia and Putin? President Putin? Are we going to engage them? Are we going to invite them to
02:46South Africa? There's no such news. But now, but we're told that Zelensky is coming to a neutral country,
02:57blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I don't think so. I think this is a very serious blunder by the South
03:02African government. Well, unless we forget, President Ramaphosa put forward a detailed peace
03:08proposal for Ukraine in 2023, but Zelensky rejected it. Do you think anything's changed in Kiev's
03:14government now? Nothing has changed. He is as arrogant as ever. This Zelensky chap. Okay. And we
03:27understand why. I mean, some of us are very close to Russia because we grew up in Russia. Some of us,
03:38we trained in Russia. Okay. And we're happy that in a few weeks' time, Russia is going to observe
03:45and commemorate eight years of the victory of the great patriotic war. Okay. Against fascists,
03:52against Hitler. You know. Zelensky is a well-known, notorious, self-confessed Nazi. He's a fascist.
04:00We're a democratic country. Okay. People are allowed to speak here. We're allowed to vote.
04:08You can protest. None of the kind happens in Ukraine. And here now we're going to parade
04:15this charlatan, you know, this fascist Zelensky in our own country. What example are we giving
04:21to our people and to the continent and the world? Yeah, well, you have to respect South Africa's
04:27efforts to try to end the Ukraine conflict because it seems like we're seeing an African
04:32country try to do more to bring peace to Ukraine than we're seeing in Europe. Why do you think
04:38that is? Look, I think that if they were genuine in seeking peace in Ukraine, we're going to arrange
04:47a meeting somewhere not within our borders. Because now that gives us a tear somehow that we are
04:57taking sides in that conflict. It could have been done in a neutral venue. I mean, why do you think
05:05the negotiations between Russia and America on Ukraine happened in Saudi? There's a very good
05:11reason for that. Because you don't want to bring your country into question about where it stands
05:18on these conflicts and in this war in particular. So that could have been done elsewhere, where they
05:24could meet, wherever, but not here. Not here in our country, you know, using our taxpayers' money
05:33to prop up a fascist like Zelensky.
05:39And do you expect South Africa to extend the same invitation to Vladimir Putin as it has to Zelensky,
05:45especially considering that Johannesburg is set to host the G20 summit this year?
05:52Well, if you remember, Mr. Putin was supposed to have attended a meeting of BRICS sometime last
05:59year. He couldn't. Because we said, no, you can't come because, you know, the ICC has taken a decision
06:09on you. They want to arrest you. So we're members of the ICC and therefore we'll be forced to arrest
06:15you. And Putin didn't come. Why could you find a reason for Zelensky not to come yet?
06:23Okay. He's coming here for what? I don't believe that he's coming to talk about peace.
06:28If he couldn't speak to Trump, he couldn't speak to many other leaders, why do we think that South
06:36Africa, I mean, in comparison to America, very small? Are we going to, you know, I'm not saying
06:42that we don't have a role to play. We may have a role to play. But I take offense to this guy coming
06:49here and with his arrogance. And then we're going to fat him around and parade him here, you know,
06:56as if he's a normal. He's not a normal person. He's a war monger. He's a fascist. He's a Nazi.
07:04His country's at war. What is he doing in our country?
