Donald Trump Advocates for U.S. Presence in Greenland: ‘America Stands with Greenland’ | Video

In a recent video shared on X, former President Donald Trump highlighted the historical involvement of American troops in Greenland’s security.

On Friday, Trump posted a video emphasizing the role of the United States in safeguarding Greenland, underscoring past military efforts and the need for continued strategic presence in the region. The video, which concludes with the statement “America stands with Greenland,” is part of Trump’s broader push to bring the territory under U.S. influence, citing national security interests.

The video narrates, “In the frozen expanse of the Arctic, a bond was forged—not through treaties or commerce, but through courage and sacrifice. During World War II, as Nazi forces expanded their reach, Greenland became a focal point of conflict. The United States stepped in, not as conquerors, but as protectors.”

It goes on to recount the 1943 tragedy where a Nazi U-boat attack led to the sinking of a U.S. ship bound for Greenland, paying tribute to the American chaplains who helped save both American and Greenlandic lives.

The video also draws parallels to modern security concerns, stating, “Today, Greenland faces new threats from Russian military actions and China’s growing Arctic ambitions. Our shared legacy endures through every mission, every Arctic patrol, and every alliance built in the face of shifting global tensions. Now is the time to stand together once more—for peace, for security, and for the future.”

Addressing reporters at the White House, Trump reinforced his stance, stating, “Greenland is vital to international security. We need it. This isn’t a matter of preference—it’s a necessity.”

Vice President JD Vance’s Visit to Greenland
Vice President JD Vance is currently in Greenland, a territory under Denmark’s semi-autonomous rule, where discussions around potential sovereignty have gained momentum.

During his visit, Vance remarked, “The president is deeply focused on Arctic security, and its importance will only continue to grow in the coming decades.”

His trip coincided with the formation of a new coalition government in Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, which has expressed a commitment to maintaining its relationship with Denmark for the time being.

Following his visit, Vance reposted Trump’s video, writing, “Usha and I are returning from an unforgettable trip to Greenland. We look forward to visiting again soon. America stands with Greenland!”
