00:20hands went on a wheel it starts off right Brandon Lee is coming on strong yeah I
00:25did a thing I did a documentary for Brandon Lee and I said did you know you
00:29know your name checked in that song which guess I know honey it's great it's a
00:33pretty good song to be name checked in right yeah it really is I want to talk
00:36about the album hi there's not a track with the title hi which normally I feel
00:41like they always coincide so I've never named an album after a song I didn't
00:46realize that ever okay so what is the philosophy of naming this particular
00:51album hi for you yeah it the word comes up in a lot of songs about four or five
00:57songs on the album have it within it okay and it kept reoccurring so and it's a
01:01real everybody loves to get high and feel high yeah however you do it right it
01:07doesn't mean that you have to be like everybody does a different bad yeah you
01:10can run up a mountain and feel high yeah I mean you can just be sitting on the
01:13beach and feel high you can go to a Keith Urban concert and feel high that's the
01:16intention hopefully we make that happen yeah it's all you mentioned like getting
01:21in that flow state they call it like that's what yeah that's what psychologists
01:24call that like it and and I feel like it mostly happens with musicians when
01:30you're on stage and you it's like you go to another world right yeah that is the
01:35best feeling in the world for sure is that is that what you're you know what
01:40you're chasing pretty much all the time yeah it's what I'm trying to always
01:42allow to happen because you can't make it happen isn't I have to let it happen
01:46isn't it interesting when you go into that state and when you come out of it when
01:50you're performing do you sometimes feel like wait a minute where am I at in the
01:53song yeah I've never surfed before but I should imagine it's probably at the same
01:56thing when you're on that in the tube yes you know especially when you're
02:00inside the thing that must be you're highly aware and lost in the moment yeah
02:04all at the same time so I saw that you it seems like anyways from what I've been
02:08hearing about the new album that you've had like the most fun creating and
02:12performing this album out of out of any that you've done so far so they did yeah
02:16what what do you think makes it so special that just um the freedom of
02:22expression like not trying to make any certain album I made a record before it
02:26which I ditched and I was trying to do something different to what I've ever
02:30done with every album and I went that's that's why I don't make records that way
02:34I like to just play in the studio and have fun and let the songs you gotta stick to
02:39like the creative process that works for you yeah which is much more spontaneous
02:43yeah yeah I want to talk about songs I don't want to know do you think that
02:48there is a perfect song and what is the perfect song for you there's not a song
02:53is it I because I don't but like what would like I guess what do you have a
02:57perfect song well I have a perp like I love like Van Morrison's Astro Weeks oh
03:03that's a great album and like there's so many songs on that that I'm like this is
03:07the perfect song yeah happy birthday is a pretty good song happy birthday is a pretty
03:12good song you know what that's the one you ever see that meme where it's like if you
03:16had to sing a song and not screw up any of the words which would it be I'd be like
03:20happy birthday yeah it's about get their name wrong probably that's all right the
03:24only other thing that I could think of and this just jumped into my head because
03:28I'm a back to the future fan I remember watching a documentary about that movie
03:32and all these people said this is the perfect movie so I guess there is a
03:37perfect movie and it's back to the future but I don't think there's a perfect song
03:41is happy birthday that's it yeah either that or row your boat one of the two we had um we
03:47had Marcus King here yesterday who was another incredible guitar player like yourself and I was
03:53like man I wish they would have been here on the same day maybe we could get you guys
03:57can we get you guys together at some point yeah he was at a concert I went to one time and uh
04:02we both said it'd be great to play together sometime so I'd love to do that I would love to
04:07it's on our wish list so maybe it's on my wish list I love Marcus well congratulations on
