00:00I'm really excited about today.
00:03I'll be working with the WCSX promotions team to set up a stamp unveiling event
00:07that premieres the new Jimi Hendrix stamp, being released today by the U.S. Postal Service.
00:13It's a tribute to one of the most influential and celebrated artists of all time,
00:18and we here at the Classic Rock Station are all thrilled to be a part of the fun.
00:23It's an early call time at the studios, with our crew of five here to gather all the things we'll need.
00:28Banners, a backdrop, prizing and giveaways, plus the equipment needed to broadcast live.
00:35With everything on the checklist loaded, we're off.
00:39As Hendrix was such a legendary and inspiring electric guitarist,
00:43it seems fitting that we would hold our event at a place where people learn to play every day,
00:48the Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music.
00:52We're expecting folks from the Postal Service, the media, and the public.
00:56We've also invited electric guitarists to play the Star Spangled Banner,
01:00just like Hendrix did at Woodstock, prior to us unveiling the stamp.
01:05Setup includes decorating the stage, giving the station a strong presence with banners and signs,
01:11and hooking up and testing the broadcast equipment.
01:14These days, broadcasting is easier than ever.
01:17Here, we're using an iPad with mic and headset to connect directly back with the studio.
01:22If the iPad goes down, for whatever reason, the app running it all can connect us on an iPhone.
01:29And with that, everything is set.
01:32Just in time, too.
01:34Our program director and promotions director have arrived to check in on how things are going.
01:38As guests and guitarists arrive, our morning show hosts, Jim and Trudy, are on hand to greet everyone prior to the presentation.
01:49The amps are checked, the stamp is in place, everyone has gathered, and we're ready to begin.
01:55It's another successful event.
01:57Everything went off without a hitch.
01:59All the guests had fun, and the unveiling was an awesome tribute to a legendary performer.
