00:00All right, it's not very long.
00:18So we don't hear that the whole time.
00:20We could work it into the show.
00:27If you play percussion, feel free to come up here.
00:30That works, too.
00:33That works, too.
01:00All right, when Travis walks in here, everybody go nuts.
01:05You ready?
01:08I need a...
01:08Okay, one, two, three...
01:10Hey!
01:10Hey!
01:10I don't know who told him to do that, Travis.
01:21I'm sorry.
01:29Well, how y'all doing?
01:30You good?
01:32My name's Adam Doliak, as you see on every TV in the room.
01:35This is what I look like, and I'm going to show you what I sound like in a minute.
01:40What's your name here in the front?
01:42Jerry?
01:43Well, that's a cool name.
01:45Jerry.
01:45I saw Jerry earlier, and she said she was in the mood for a show.
01:48So that's why I'm here today.
01:49We're playing her a show.
01:50And your name was Amanda.
01:58I'm not forgetting these names.
01:59I just never got them for everyone listening.
02:01But so you're from Nashville.
02:03And so this first, I'm going to play you a song, and it's a bit inspired by Nashville.
02:07So I bought a house there four or five years ago.
02:09Been there for seven years now.
02:11And I used to have this really beautiful view of downtown Nashville, and you could see the Batman building and everything.
02:17And so about a year or two ago, I would say, they built a real nice apartment building in the way of that view.
02:25So now I have a really great view of an apartment building.
02:28And so when I bought my house, I put a swing on the front porch to have coffee on or whatever.
02:33I've always wanted one.
02:34First thing I did when I got the house.
02:35And so now I have coffee and look at this apartment building every morning.
02:39And so the apartment building is called Solo East.
02:43I live in East Nashville.
02:44So it's just huge writing, Solo East.
02:46And so I had coffee for two or three months staring at it.
02:49And I wrote this next song, and it's called Solo.
02:52So this is inspired by Nashville construction a little bit.
02:56It's not about them, don't worry.
02:57It's a love song, but this one goes out to Nashville native here again.
03:02It's called Solo.
03:09I felt you wake up, and I see you in the bathroom touching up your make-up keys over by the door.
03:20Heels on my hardwood floor.
03:23Yeah, I know it's early.
03:25Please tell me, baby, what's all the hurry?
03:28You're leaving way too fast.
03:30No, it don't have to be like that.
03:33I don't want to be solo.
03:36I don't want to watch the sun come up alone.
03:40No, you ain't got to go home, baby.
03:42Wait three days to talk on the phone.
03:45Just cause the night is over.
03:48Don't mean I don't want you next to me.
03:50I don't want to be solo.
03:52Oh, so stay all my day over here with me.
03:58Oh, baby, stay all my day over here with me.
04:03Yeah.
04:05Well, it's just between us.
04:08I wasn't minding that kind of freedom.
04:11I know you like it, too.
04:13Cause you told me when I met you, you could try to not show it.
04:18But both of us know and we can't control it like we're supposed to do.
04:24Also, why can't we break the rules?
04:27I don't want to be solo.
04:30I don't want to watch the sun come up alone.
04:33No, you ain't got to go home, baby.
04:36Wait three days to talk on the phone.
04:38Just cause the night is over.
04:41Don't mean I don't want you next to me.
04:43I don't want to be solo.
04:45Oh, so stay all my day over here with me.
04:51Oh, baby, stay all my day over here with me.
04:57Yeah.
04:57No, I don't want to be solo.
05:13I don't want to watch the sun come up alone.
05:17You ain't got to go home, baby.
05:19Wait three days to talk on the phone.
05:22Just cause the night is over.
05:25Don't mean I don't want you next to me.
05:28I don't want to be solo.
05:31So stay all my day over here with me.
05:35Oh, baby, stay all my day over here with me.
05:40Stay all my day over here with me.
05:46Oh, baby, stay all my day over here with me.
05:51Oh, baby, stay all my day over here with me.
05:59Thank you very much.
06:04So it's not about an apartment building.
06:06It's just kind of a funny way of getting to a song, I think.
06:09Did anyone catch on that solo stands for anything in that song?
06:14Nashville native gets it.
06:15She's a songwriter in here.
06:16She gets it.
06:17Well, is she speaking from experience or not?
06:26I don't know.
06:27We just met.
06:31It would be ironic if someone was at my house
06:33and I asked them to stay over and lay over
06:35and they decided to stay at the new apartment building
06:37instead of my house.
06:38That would be something.
06:40Yeah, it could.
06:41It hasn't yet.
06:42Let's just keep that streak alive.
06:43So I come from Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
06:49I was talking about that earlier.
06:50Ray's been through there.
06:51Had a terrible experience.
06:53Sorry about it.
06:54I'm kidding.
06:54He said he loved the people.
06:55He said he loved it.
06:56The getting there was not fun.
06:58But I like to play this song
07:01any time I'm in a room of people I haven't met
07:03or just getting to know some folks.
07:06It's a song called Mom and Daddy's Money.
07:08And it normally will make people giggle
07:10when you hear the title.
07:11It's not a funny song.
07:13It's just I'm of the belief that
07:16the best thing you can have in the world
07:17is a good mom and dad.
07:19And I was very lucky to have that
07:21and I still do today.
07:22And it just took me a while to figure out
07:24how awesome they really were.
07:25You know, it takes 20-something years, I'd say.
07:28And then you realize just how much they did
07:31and the things they didn't have to do that they did.
07:33And if they gave you 20 bucks,
07:35they may not have had 20 bucks.
07:36They just figured out a way to get it to you
07:38and make it a little bit easier.
07:39So I wrote this to my parents
07:42and all good parents, really.
07:43That's about the only way I can figure
07:44to say thank you to them.
07:46And it's about the day I realized
07:48that Mom and Daddy's Money
07:49was not actual paper money.
07:51It's just they loved the hell out of me.
07:53And it's my thank you
07:55and I hope I can do it as well as they did
07:57one day when I have my own.
07:59So it's called Mom and Daddy's Money.
08:06It was a red-go-card, a big backyard.
08:18It was summer trips on the credit card
08:21and a pair of shoes.
08:24The first day of school so I could feel cool.
08:27It was a hand-me-down Chevy when I turned 16.
08:3120 on the counter for some gasoline.
08:35It was free to me.
08:37It was Mom and Daddy's Money.
08:42I never knew where it came from,
08:44just knew where it went.
08:46Hard to come by, but easy to spend.
08:49If times got tough, man, I couldn't tell.
08:52They went through hell so I could live
08:55in the land of milk and honey.
08:58Oh, Mom and Daddy's Money, Money.
09:09Well, part-time jobs and mowing yards
09:12don't cover car wrecks and broken arms.
09:16But they had my back.
09:17Even when they knew I couldn't pay them back
09:22The older I got, the more I saw
09:26This whole time, it was time they bought
09:29They looked out for me
09:31Until I didn't need
09:33Mom and Daddy's money
09:36I never knew where it came from
09:39Just knew where it went
09:41Hard to come by, but easy to spend
09:44If times got tough, man, I couldn't tell
09:47They went through hell so I could live
09:50In the land of milk and honey
09:53Mom and Daddy's Money
09:57Daughters only go so far
10:09No, they'll never be enough
10:12The money runs out
10:14But their love
10:16It never does
10:18And that's Mom and Daddy's money
10:22Now I know where it came from
10:26And I know what it meant
10:27I know it's hard to come by
10:33And easy to spend
10:35And if times get tough, man, I'll never tell
10:41I'll go through hell so they can live
10:44In the land of milk and honey
10:47Mom and Daddy's Money
10:50Ain't it kind of funny
10:54Mom and Daddy's Money
10:57Money
10:58Well, looking back, it ain't hard to see
11:09All the little things that they did for me
11:12And if I'm lucky
11:14One day a little voice will ask me
11:19For Mom and Daddy's money
11:25Thank you
11:33I warned you it wasn't a funny song, didn't it?
11:45Playing it for my parents?
11:46Oh man, my mom bawled
11:47She still does
11:48They, uh...
11:50Sorry, Jerry, that's my fault
11:54Somebody get this one with some Kleenex
11:57It's a happy cry, at least
12:01So this is, uh...
12:06This is my first ever radio tour
12:07So thank you guys for being a part of it
12:09Thanks for taking a minute of your day
12:11I'm gonna do two more songs, if that's okay
12:15Do we have time for that?
12:16Yeah, okay
12:16It's Friday
12:18Play all day
12:19So I actually...
12:22I'm a new artist
12:23But I've been kind of doing it
12:25For a little while
12:25I've been, uh...
12:27I got offered record deals
12:28Three or four years ago
12:29And they were kind of development deals
12:30Won by Sony, actually
12:31And, uh...
12:32Turned that down
12:33And went and did independent stuff
12:34And, uh...
12:35Had some luck there
12:37I've had a few number ones
12:38On Sirius Radio
12:39And, uh...
12:41Some good luck at Spotify
12:42And iTunes
12:42And all that stuff
12:43So, um...
12:45If anyone...
12:45Has anyone heard any of my songs
12:46Before this day, today?
12:48Or is this all new?
12:48Everybody new?
12:49Oh, it's coming
12:52I'll play it
12:52All right, all right
12:53I always like to make sure
12:54If you actually are a fan
12:55Or have heard some songs
12:56I hate to not play them for you
12:57But, yeah, it's coming
12:58Don't worry
12:58We'll end the show with it
13:00You want to sing it with me?
13:01No, no
13:02But, um...
13:06Anyway, all that to say
13:07I've recently signed a record deal
13:09Uh...
13:10With Sony Music Nashville
13:11About a month ago
13:12So, yeah
13:13I'm very excited about it
13:15And, uh...
13:16We signed the deal on a Wednesday
13:17And we started a radio tour
13:18On Thursday
13:19So we jumped
13:19We jumped right on in there
13:20So that...
13:22Actually, I've forgotten
13:23What that apartment building
13:24Looks like now
13:25It's been a while
13:26Since I've been home
13:27But, um...
13:28We're having a blast
13:29And I just want to say
13:30Thank you to everybody
13:31Who helped support
13:32This crazy dream in any way
13:33So thank you guys
13:34This is going to be my, uh...
13:35My first single
13:37To country radio
13:38Um...
13:39It's a little song
13:40Called Famous
13:40And, uh...
13:41My girlfriend at home
13:42Is very, uh...
13:44Tomboyish
13:45Doesn't really get
13:46Super dressed up a lot
13:47And so...
13:48On this particular night
13:49She did
13:50And my little brother
13:50Was in town
13:51And he never sees her
13:52Dressed up
13:52And so she comes
13:53Walking down the stairs
13:54In this, like,
13:55Pretty bougie coat
13:57Kind of fluffy white
13:58Bougie coat, you know
13:59Something like Allie
14:00Would wear out
14:01On a Friday night, you know
14:02Um...
14:04But she never wears
14:05The stuff
14:05And my brother
14:06Just turned around
14:06And goes
14:07Damn, you look famous
14:08Tonight, girl
14:09And I just remember
14:10I wrote this idea down
14:11And I remember loving
14:12The idea of just
14:13Making somebody
14:14Who's not per se
14:15Famous feel like
14:16They are for three minutes
14:17And it was kind of
14:18As a songwriter
14:19I love different
14:20Angles on words
14:21And this is
14:21I'm not comfortable
14:23Telling people
14:23How famous I am
14:24So I'm just telling
14:25Somebody else
14:26They're famous
14:26In this song
14:27So it makes me
14:27Feel better about it
14:28Um...
14:30But I have always said
14:31Wouldn't it be ironic
14:31If a song called
14:32Famous
14:33Ended up making me famous
14:34So we'll see what happens
14:35But, um...
14:36Man, this is just about
14:37I love to pull somebody
14:38Up on stage
14:39Every night we play this
14:40And just make them
14:41Feel special
14:41For a few minutes
14:42And, uh...
14:44Inspired by my brother's
14:45Comments about my girlfriend
14:46Would have been
14:50A sweeter story
14:50Maybe if I would have
14:51Told her that
14:51But oh well
14:52Must have been
15:05Living under a rock
15:06Must have not
15:10Left the house
15:11For a couple of years
15:12All the telephones
15:15TVs, radios
15:16Put a blindfold on
15:21And cotton in my ears
15:23Cause you've got
15:25This sense to me
15:26Recognize a quality
15:29About you, baby
15:31Yeah, I gotta say
15:33Girl, you look famous
15:36Like South Beach or Vegas
15:39All up in the papers
15:41In the supermarket
15:43And that dress on you
15:46I swear
15:47I know you from somewhere
15:49I gotta know
15:51What your name is
15:53Girl, you look famous
15:55When you smile
15:56Famous when you smile
16:02Baby
16:03Some show, some song
16:08Billboard, commercial
16:09Do you do the weather?
16:13Do you read the news?
16:14Girl, you got my head
16:18Spinning round in circles
16:19And by the way
16:22I'm looking at you
16:23And everybody else is too
16:26I'm thinking
16:27Girl, you look famous
16:28Like South Beach or Vegas
16:31All up in the papers
16:34In the supermarket
16:35And I dress on you
16:38And I dress on you
16:38I swear
16:39I know you from somewhere
16:42I gotta know
16:43What your name is
16:45Cause girl, you look famous
16:47When you smile
16:49Famous when you smile
16:55Baby
16:55Yeah, you got your elbows
16:59On the bar
17:00Shining in the blue neon
17:02And it's something
17:04I just can't place
17:06So put my finger on
17:08Cause you got this
17:11Instantly recognizable
17:13Quality
17:14About you, baby
17:16Yeah, you might not be
17:19Oh, girl, you look famous
17:22Like South Beach or Vegas
17:25All up in the papers
17:28In the supermarket
17:30And I dress you got on
17:33Got me looking
17:34For some paparazzi
17:36I gotta know
17:37What your name is
17:39Girl, you look famous
17:42When you smile
17:43Famous when you smile
17:48Yeah, you look famous
17:52Yeah, you look famous
17:56When you look so famous
17:57When you smile
17:59Thank you
18:05Man, that song's been
18:09a dream come true this year
18:10We put that out
18:10and it's opening
18:11all kinds of doors
18:11I've been wanting to open
18:13so I'm excited for it
18:15to get out to you guys
18:15I'm gonna do one more song
18:17for you, it's called
18:18Whiskey's Fine by request
18:19I was gonna play it anyway
18:20but I'm gonna act like
18:21it was by request
18:22As an up and coming artist
18:25Request are a big deal
18:27It's like, alright
18:27Somebody knows it
18:28Somebody knows it
18:29But I've had a bit
18:34of a random journey
18:35to get here
18:36so I'm not the guy
18:37that's been singing
18:39since he was four years old
18:40and trying to do this
18:41my whole life
18:41I actually thought
18:42I was gonna do other things
18:43and decided when I was 12 or 13
18:45that I wanted to play golf
18:46I don't know if we have
18:47any golfers in the room
18:48but I was a big golfer
18:49and I quit all the sports
18:50in 8th grade, 9th grade
18:52somewhere around in there
18:53to start focusing on golf
18:54and I did that
18:54and I got a full ride
18:56for golf
18:57to go to Delta State
18:58which is in North Mississippi
18:59and thought that's
19:02what I was gonna do
19:02I remember I played basketball
19:04and golf throughout high school
19:05and got to my senior year
19:08of high school
19:08and I was at a smaller school
19:11and my friends needed
19:12one more guy
19:12on the baseball team
19:13and they came and got me
19:14off the basketball court
19:15and said, look
19:16we need one more guy
19:17on our team
19:17we got a good team
19:18but we just need
19:18a third baseman
19:19can you play this year
19:21and I'm like, yeah
19:21I'll play for fun
19:22whatever
19:22so I remember walking out
19:24in my basketball jersey
19:25hitting a bucket of balls
19:26in the cage
19:27and then starting
19:27in a baseball game
19:28that night
19:28and thought I was
19:30just doing it for fun
19:31didn't think anything of it
19:32I was still gonna go play golf
19:33and ended up having
19:35a good year in baseball
19:36and Southern Miss
19:37in Hattiesburg, Mississippi
19:38which is the only school
19:40that even knew
19:40I played baseball
19:41because of my
19:42last minute-ness
19:43of this whole thing
19:44offers me a baseball scholarship
19:46at the end of the year
19:47and I said
19:49so I called this golf coach
19:50you'll learn this about me
19:51I like to do impossible things
19:53and so
19:54or at least try
19:54and I called this golf coach
19:56and I'm like, look man
19:57I've decided I can play golf
19:59until I'm 90 years old
20:00I'm gonna go play baseball
20:01I just got offered
20:03a baseball scholarship
20:04and I have no idea how
20:05so I'm gonna take it
20:06and so I did that
20:08and then I left
20:09and went to Southern Miss
20:10and played baseball
20:11three years later
20:13I'm walking into
20:14the College World Series
20:1430,000 people
20:15screaming at me
20:16we Cinderella story
20:17our coach actually quit
20:19in the middle of the year
20:20we were so bad
20:20we were 17 and 18
20:22our coach had been there
20:23for 25 years
20:24and retired
20:25he's like, I've had enough
20:26I'm out
20:26and we did not lose
20:29another game
20:30until the College World Series
20:31after he retired
20:32it was insane
20:32it was crazy
20:33one of my teammates
20:35Brian Dozier
20:36actually just won
20:37the Real World Series
20:38with the Nationals
20:39he's playing for them now
20:40so that's him
20:41and Anthony Rendon
20:42I played against him
20:43he was at Rice
20:44in our conference
20:45so I played against him
20:46all throughout college
20:46and yeah, all my buddies
20:48have turned out to be studs
20:49in the major leagues
20:50so I did that
20:52I had a cool thing
20:53this year
20:54with a full circle thing
20:56with the College World Series
20:57I actually got to write
20:58the song for the College World Series
20:59in 2019
21:00which just happened
21:01so if you watched it
21:02you heard me singing
21:04without knowing
21:04you heard me singing
21:05but it's a song called
21:06Key to the City
21:06and it's gonna be the song
21:07for the next 5 or 10 years
21:09which is pretty cool
21:09and something
21:10I've always wanted to do
21:11but anyway
21:14so I'm playing baseball
21:15everything's going well
21:16I had some offers
21:16to get drafted
21:17and go try out for teams
21:18and whatnot
21:19and I again
21:20thought that's what
21:20I was gonna do
21:21but I've played these things
21:23my whole life
21:24actually
21:24I'm a drummer
21:24since I was about 2 years old
21:26and my roommates
21:28play guitar in college
21:29so I started picking
21:30their guitar up
21:31and kind of teaching myself
21:32I still don't really know
21:33what I'm doing
21:34but I'm trying my best
21:35and so I started doing that
21:38and kind of singing
21:38around the house
21:39and they're actually
21:40the ones that went
21:40and booked my first shows
21:42I was scared to sing
21:43in front of anyone
21:43and so they went around
21:45Hattiesburg
21:45and booked some local shows
21:47and said
21:47you have to be here
21:47Saturday night at 7
21:48like we booked you a show
21:49you can't not show up
21:50and I did
21:51and we played some shows
21:52and I was really bad
21:54at it back then I think
21:55but people still told me
21:57I was okay at it
21:58so I believed them
21:58and kept doing it
21:59and when it came time
22:02to decide baseball or music
22:03again I leaned towards
22:04the shouldn't do this
22:05probably not a good idea
22:07category
22:08and I moved to Nashville
22:09and started doing
22:12the music thing
22:13I remember I put a song
22:13on YouTube
22:14and I remember thinking
22:16if this does okay
22:17I'll move to Nashville
22:17and it got like
22:18500,000 views
22:19and I was like okay
22:20I'm moving to Nashville
22:21so I've been there
22:23for seven years now
22:24four of them
22:26without an apartment
22:27building in my way
22:28and three with an apartment
22:29building in my way
22:29and it's just been
22:31a steady
22:32a slow
22:33steady journey
22:34I tell people
22:35I get told no
22:36all the time
22:36but there's little
22:37little yeses
22:38that have been attached
22:39and so I signed
22:41a pub deal
22:41two years after living there
22:43and then a record deal
22:45seven years after living there
22:47so here we are
22:48that's how I got here
22:49I'm sure that's exactly
22:50how you thought
22:51my story went
22:51but all that to say
22:54this is the first song
22:55I ever got to release
22:56as an artist
22:57I remember this one
22:59is what they named me
23:00Highway Find on Sirius
23:01when this came out
23:02and you never really know
23:04if people are going to like it
23:05and I put it out
23:05and that happened
23:06and it sold 40,000 copies
23:07in a week
23:08and I was like
23:08well crap
23:09this is pretty great
23:10and a lot of good things
23:11happened
23:11but the one thing
23:12I'm a pretty big
23:13baseball fan still
23:14and the one thing
23:14I remember happening
23:15was Chipper Jones
23:17retweeted this song
23:18when it came out
23:19and he has been
23:19my favorite player
23:20my whole entire life
23:21I've been number 10
23:22my whole life
23:22because of Chipper
23:23so out of all the things
23:26that I could remember
23:26that's the one thing
23:27that sticks out to me
23:28but
23:28I don't know
23:31if it was a social media person
23:32just retweeting it for him
23:34but
23:34I'm going to go on
23:35thinking that he just
23:36heard the song
23:37and liked it
23:37and tweeted it
23:38so if you hear otherwise
23:39just don't tell me
23:40okay
