00:00Backstage, Morgan Wallen about to get out there and do this QYK guitar pool thing.
00:06How's it going, brother?
00:07I'm doing good. How you doing?
00:08Good, man. You know, you probably saw a QYK guitar pool on the list and didn't think the weather was going to be like this, and it looks like you didn't care.
00:16I didn't.
00:16Yeah, I checked the weather a long time ago, man. I just thought it was always going to be 90 degrees here.
00:20So do we.
00:21I actually think it feels great. We just came from Cleveland, Ohio last night, so this is like summertime compared to there.
00:28Yeah, anything is warm compared to that.
00:30Yes, it is. Yes. So this is nice for me.
00:32Thank you for being here. Appreciate it. Looking forward for you rocking out.
00:35We were talking with a lot of the other artists, and I just think his guitar pool formats are so cool because it's you, it's storytelling, it's a guitar.
00:43You know, you kind of get up there and just, you know, you're not like, it's not super produced.
00:47You can just kind of tell some stories and do your thing.
00:49Yeah, I like it, man. It's a nice change of pace. It's nice to be up there with some people that you consider friends.
00:54It's cool. It's a little bit more personal, I think, than most shows you play, and I appreciate it.
00:59You can kind of gently sip a drink during it, too, you know, because it's not all crazy.
01:03You can sort of kind of just get into it.
01:05Yes, agreed. Well, I mean, I don't know if that's always true or not, but I've been in some pretty rowdy guitar pools.
01:11Really?
01:12Oh, yeah.
01:12Oh, well, I hope that happens because the ones I've been to, it's been so, like, laid back and chill.
01:17You hear a couple crazy stories here and there, but I'm ready for it to get rowdy.
01:21I think there, I was in one, I can't remember. I think it was in Lexington, Kentucky. That's where I was at.
01:26And there was definitely, like, weed being passed around on stage.
01:28Wow. All right.
01:30We may have to edit that part out.
01:31Yeah, okay. That's all right.
01:33Or leave it in because why not?
01:35Yes, because we're getting rowdy at the guitar pool.
01:37Well, I'm not really, like, a big weed smoker, so I wasn't, but I just thought it was interesting.
01:42I kind of felt like I was in hip-hop or something, you know?
01:44Right. Well, speaking of that, you know, anything can happen to a guitar pool, including covers.
01:48Do you ever cover hip-hop? Is that something you do?
01:50No, no, I don't really cover hip-hop. I have covered a lot of songs, but not really hip-hop.
01:54I like classical rock probably better than anything. I like to cover that.
01:58And I like, like, a little bit of rock. We were actually just talking about this on the way over here.
02:03Like, I've covered, like, Fall Out Boy and stuff like that before.
02:07That's cool.
02:07Yeah, if you're at a karaoke bar, is that what you're doing?
02:10Yeah, probably something like that. Or classic, like the Eagles, or maybe something like Fall Out Boy.
02:14Yeah, just to be funny, but yeah.
02:15Yeah, but that's kind of surprising, because you're kind of dabbling in the pop world right now.
02:20You've got a song with Diplo. Heartless is climbing up the charts. Love that song.
02:25When you release something like that, are you expecting country radio to play it?
02:29Are you expecting it to go to pop? What are your thoughts?
02:31Well, honestly, that song was just so unexpected for me, like, as far as doing it with Diplo.
02:36Kind of came out of nowhere. I like the idea of it.
02:38No, I didn't expect country radio to play it. I don't really consider it that country, really.
02:42But it's kind of just me, like you said, dabbling in something else.
02:46I like all kinds of different music. I like the song.
02:48If I can sing a song and believe it and feel comfortable singing it, then I think that's fine.
02:54But no, I'm still going to... I'm not going to completely switch over to that.
02:58I'm going to still make my country music albums.
03:00But I might just mess around and do stuff like that every once in a while.
03:03Well, I think the ladies want to know, though.
03:05Like, are you still chasing that girl?
03:08Are you still going through the cycle of fighting, getting back together?
03:11No, no, no, no. This is just songs that are inspired by my past experiences.
03:16Okay, past experiences. Got it.
03:18Some people will be excited about that.
03:19Morgan lives day by day and doesn't want to make long-term plans.
03:23That's about right.
03:23Zero commitments.
03:25I'm acting as Morgan's attorney this evening.
03:28No, you're a great time, man. It's always fun to hang out with you.
03:31And I know you're going to rock it tonight.
03:33Morgan Wallen backstage, QYK Guitar Pool.
03:35Get ready, he's coming for you all tonight.
03:37See y'all out there.
