00:00You know, I'd call my dad or call my brother, like, man, I don't know if I want to work $6 an hour, driving three hours back and forth, and, you know, so I was losing money by doing that.
00:11I'd have to stay the night in a hotel so I would lose more money, and then my dad and my brother are like, dude, you've got to do it, man.
00:17If you don't work hard, it's not going to happen.
00:20This is 9 o'clock in the morning. I'm on vacation. I'm not going to lie. I was out the night before until 6 in the morning, but my phone's blowing up, blowing up, and I'm like, what is this?
00:28The guy goes, yo, I need you to get to Wild 94.1 in the next hour.
00:39Hey, what's up? My name is Mark. I work on Orlando and the Freak Show here at Wild 94.1.
00:44Basically, I began my radio career as an intern in Chicago at a legendary station called B96.
00:51From there, I went to a really small town in central Illinois. It was about three hours south of Chicago.
00:58It's called Decatur, Illinois. I started there working at one radio station. It was actually a country radio station.
01:05There I was on air. I did middays. I did promotions.
01:08From there, I gained a lot of information about the radio and the music industry that I was never privy to prior.
01:16Going from the small town, then I went right back to Chicago.
01:20My old bosses called me up. They said they had a job for me.
01:23I moved right back home because I wanted to be in the big city.
01:27I was moved into the role as a morning show producer for a brand new morning show.
01:32I spent nine years there and from there, came to Wild 94.1.
01:36I didn't come down here with a car. I moved here with two suitcases, right?
01:39So I had to get an apartment a mile away from the station.
01:42Usually, I'm the first one here in the morning.
01:43I set up the board, log in to the computer.
01:46So Orlando, when he walks in the room, he sits down.
01:50Davi heard that I didn't have a car and Davi was like,
01:52bro, I will pick you up and drop you off every single day.
01:55There's no need to want to take a bus or take an Uber or take a cab.
01:59We're co-hosts. We need to bond anyway.
02:01We want to be honest and we want to be open.
02:03So that's what you're going to get when you turn into a freak show.
02:05Sometimes if I'm going through things in my life, the second I'm in South Carolina, all is good.
02:10My dad passed away in 2014 and yeah, that dude was my best friend.
02:14That was a big, big life changer for me.
02:16And he had a couple houses in South Carolina and I've kept everything the same.
02:20I never sold anything.
02:22I go five, six times a year, keep the house maintained, doing the yard work, making everything look good.
02:27It brings me closer to him.
02:29Wild is a family.
02:30When you tune into the freak show, you are going to hear everything.
02:34We have a game called Plead the Fifth, right?
02:36We go around the room and we ask each other in-depth questions about our life.
02:41Sometimes it doesn't work out all that well.
02:44You know, like 70s, 80s.
02:45Music can be sexy when you have fun.
02:4770s, 80s.
02:48Yeah, like, oh, let's put on a vinyl and have sex.
02:52And when we're out or, you know, for instance, when I'm out, the number one thing people do is they'll come up to me and they'll be like, man, I heard you did this or I heard you did that.
03:02I can't believe you live like that or I can't believe you really are the same person, you know, out here at the bar as you are on the air.
03:10One of the coolest guests that we've had in, and he's been in here multiple times, probably one of my favorite dudes, Bill Bellamy.
03:16Yeah, Bill Bellamy is that dude.
03:19So we were interviewing him on the air and it got brought up that when I'm at my house, I keep an extra bar in the shower for cleaning certain areas of the body, right?
03:33So that got told on the air.
03:35And Bill Bellamy's reaction was, you have a butt bar?
03:39Like, I knew I liked you, bro.
03:42I love you for that.
03:43And so they kind of clowned me for it.
03:45But hearing a big celebrity agree with me on something like that, and he knew my plan because, you know, I'm a single bachelor on the show.
03:52So, you know, I live a bachelor life and my apartment is very bachelor-esque.
03:56And hearing just a guy like that, a successful dude who's been in tons of movies, he's friends with a bunch of celebrities, saying he had a butt bar or two at his house and he knew exactly where I was coming from.
04:08It's things like that that make you really grateful and you're like, oh, man, this is cool.
04:12We just had this interaction with this big-time famous guy.
04:15He lives the same life I do.
04:17This station is legendary.
04:19Like, W-L-L-D is money.
04:21When you go to Wild Splash and there's 15,000 people out there, that is Tampa's cookout.
04:26We own the summer.
04:27We own the city.
04:28Just to be a part of it is amazing.
04:30I am Mark.
04:30I am single.
04:32I am unpredictable.
04:33And I am Wild 94.1.
