Former FAA contractor Abouzar Rahmati has pleaded guilty to secretly working as an Iranian intelligence asset for years. From 2017 to 2024, Rahmati used his access to steal over 172GB of classified FAA and energy data, including radar, air traffic, and airport security systems. He met Iranian agents, used coded messages, and hid behind academic covers to pass along critical files. Authorities say he personally delivered data to Tehran in 2022. Rahmati now faces up to 15 years in prison for this high-stakes breach of national security.
