00:00Standing by with Kobi Mainu and the hero, Harry Maguire.
00:05Jules, I have no idea where to start with this.
00:08Harry, you just walked over here and said,
00:10we don't do things easily.
00:11That feels like quite the understatement tonight.
00:14Yeah, obviously, it's an incredible game.
00:17Yeah, we made really hard work of it, I must say.
00:20Half-time, obviously, soon it'll open.
00:23We had full control, I think, even in the second half.
00:25I felt like we had chances to score that third.
00:28Then they scored out of nowhere, a bit of a pinball goal.
00:33Then he puts us on the back foot and they managed to get that equalised.
00:37Obviously, to go 4-2 down in extra time against 10 men is nowhere near good enough.
00:41We opened ourselves up too much.
00:43They're a good team, they have some good forwards.
00:45They play great football.
00:48But we dug in and we've shown great spirit.
00:50That's what this stadium does.
00:52To come back like that, it's an incredible performance from everyone in the final minutes.
00:56And, Cobby, as you're watching that unfold, when you come on the pitch, what's the mentality like?
01:02Especially when you go 4-2 down.
01:04I know this club has great comebacks in their history.
01:07Not many like that, though.
01:09Yeah, of course.
01:10I mean, it was an amazing comeback.
01:12We put ourselves in that situation, though.
01:14But now when I come on, I was just trying to bring energy and, you know, try and contribute to the team.
01:19They've been doing so well and, you know, just to carry on the energy and feed off the rest of the players.
01:24When you get the ball, though, on the edge of the penalty area, how do you say so calm?
01:27I think we've seen you do that against Liverpool.
01:28It felt very similar.
01:29I mean, when the ball drops you in there, a yard feels like a mile, isn't it?
01:36So, you've just got to try and stay as calm as you can and slot it.
01:40And look, that's what I did.
01:41Harry, the get level.
01:43We're all watching that there.
01:44I think the campaign, though, has been good to Manchester United.
01:47A moment like that to win the game and win the tie and go through, what can that do now for this team for the rest of the season?
01:53I mean, of course, the performance wasn't up to the highest standard for us, but a win like that can bring so much momentum, you know?
02:00I mean, when we're rolling the snowball, it's getting bigger and bigger and we're trying to go all the way.
02:04Well done, guys.
02:05Enjoy the moment.
02:06See you in Bilbao.
02:09Quite simply, an incredible night here at Old Trafford.
02:13Kobe Meynu and Harry Maguire with the goals in extra time to win it for Manchester United.
02:20And they are getting serenaded as they walk off the pitch because Manchester United, from somewhere, none of us know how, they've kept their season alive.
02:30They were on the brink of going out.
02:33And they've somehow managed to get through to the semifinals of the Europa League.
02:37We're going to be bringing you lots more reaction.
02:39Rio Ferdinand is down from the commentary box to join Paul Sculls.
02:42More reaction from these guys to come.
02:44Plus, we'll be hearing from Ruben Amrum.
02:46I can't wait to hear what he made of that as well.
02:48But there's plenty more football to come on TNT Sports this weekend.
02:52Attention switches to the first leg of the UEFA Women's Champions League semifinals.
02:57Alessia Russo's double completed a remarkable comeback for Arsenal against Real Madrid in the quarterfinals,
03:02meaning that they face Lyon Saturday from midday.
03:06Whilst Chelsea also staged their own impressive turnaround against Manchester City,
03:10which sets up a mouthwatering showdown with Barcelona on Sunday,
03:13live from half past four on TNT Sports 2 and Discovery+.
03:17That's not all, though.
03:19Gallagher Premiership Rugby returns this weekend with round 14 as the run-in to reach the playoffs.
03:25Gallagher's pace will have every match live starting tomorrow night with Newcastle against Northampton.
03:30Coverage begins at 7 o'clock on TNT Sports 1 and Discovery+.
03:35But we have just been witness to an extraordinary football match at Old Trafford.
03:42A special European night under the lights, looking around at these fans' faces that have stayed around.
03:48They can't believe what's happened.
03:50We can't either.
03:51We'll try and make sense of it all in a couple of minutes.
03:54Don't go anywhere.
03:54I'm lost for words.
04:04An extraordinary football match.
04:05Ruben Amarim celebrating in disbelief, I think, as well.
04:09As far as moments go, Rio, you were up in the commentary box when that Harry Maguire winner went in.
04:14Where does that rank for moments here at Old Trafford?
04:17That was just special.
04:18I've never seen anything as a spectator.
04:21Somebody, once I retired, I ain't seen anything like that.
04:23I've not been involved in the game.
04:25Punditry, doing the comms.
04:27It was just an amazing thing.
04:29We saw so many fans leaving when it went to 4-2 and you thought, you know what, this is over.
04:33I said in commentary, it's going to take more than a miracle to get back in it.
04:36Well, now I'm actually a believer.
04:38Because that was outrageous.
04:40It was absolutely unbelievable, Paul.
04:43We were watching it from just behind, where Ruben Amarim stands on the touchline.
04:48When the first goal went in, when Bruno scored the penalty, you felt that there was belief there.
04:52But did you, at that point, feel a winner was going to come?
04:56I did, yeah.
04:57Did you?
04:57Yeah, because...
04:58Don't lie.
04:59You didn't believe that.
05:01Honestly, Rio, you've seen special things happen at this club loads of times.
05:04And I think back to the Oli Gunner here against Liverpool.
05:08It reminded me slightly, I know it was only 2-1 and this was 5, was it 5-4?
05:12Yeah.
05:12What's count?
05:14It was 5-4.
05:15Oh, they had a camera on you up there.
05:16Yeah, no.
05:16It was great to see you more reality.
05:18Yeah, right.
05:18Yeah, right.
05:18That didn't.
05:19Yeah, Rio didn't have a camera on him.
05:21Come on.
05:22Come on.
05:22No, they didn't.
05:23I mean, what an incredible moment.
05:25That made it 4-1.
05:26Here he comes.
05:27And here comes the Manchester United manager.
05:29Before we show you Harry Maguire's winner, Ruben, congratulations.
05:33Congratulations, man.
05:34Congratulations.
05:35Congratulations.
05:35Wow.
05:36I mean...
05:36Nice to see you smile.
05:37Wow.
05:39It was fun.
05:40Do you have any words to sum that up?
05:42No, it was hard.
05:43And I was watching again the 99, the documentary.
05:49Oh, yeah.
05:50So to have some inspiration for this moment, but it was a great night.
05:55I think the team were tired and you feel it during the game.
06:00And then 4-2 with one more player and you think it's over.
06:06But here it's never over.
06:08Did you believe?
06:09Did you still believe?
06:10I felt that here everything is possible.
06:14And then you feel the environment.
06:16And then after the 4-3, the penalty from Boronu, and you feel that you can change the game.
06:21How pleased are you that you were actually about to change the game with goals, given the fact that you didn't really have many goals on your bench, but you made those substitutions and they had huge impact in the end.
06:30We tried to put Harry Maguire because he's the only guy that can score a goal with his head.
06:39And then Kobe Mainu, he has a lack of pace in this moment because he had that injury and he stopped for a while.
06:47But he's really good on short spaces and then he has the ability to do that kind of goal.
06:53And then we tried and sometimes it works.
06:57And today was a good day.
06:59How important is it now, Ruben?
07:00I know you're coming into the end of the season, which is a really important part, to get some of your better players back.
07:06You've got Luke Shaw some minutes tonight.
07:08Obviously, Mason Mount, Mainu, you mentioned as well.
07:10Such an important time to get them back onto the pitch.
07:12It's really important because I can feel that it's really, when you are here, you can feel that playing Premier League and the European games is really hard.
07:22If you don't have the full squad, it's almost impossible.
07:26Mason Mount brings us experience.
07:28You can see Luke Shaw.
07:29Luke Shaw was meant to play 30 minutes, top.
07:35But then we had a problem with Noos at halftime.
07:38Vic has a personal problem.
07:41He had to leave.
07:42So all this stuff happened during this game.
07:45But in the end, it was a good day.
07:46Going back to the performance, what's your feelings on the performance in general?
07:50Going two goals up, throwing it away, allowing four goals against you.
07:54What's your general feeling around that?
07:56I think we start well, but we are not really consistent to maintain the game in the same way for a long time.
08:04And then when I feel that the team is a little bit tired, we drop a lot.
08:09But we have experience against Arsenal and City.
08:15We can defend quite well this moment.
08:17I think we should do better in the two goals of Lyon.
08:25But that's it.
08:26I think we have a lot to improve, but the character was there.
08:30Is there a frustration for you, Rubio, you think, from the Premier League performances then to Europa League?
08:35It seems to be different.
08:36It frustrates the life out of me.
08:38It must be frustrating for you.
08:39Of course, especially because the reflection of the coach is the league.
08:44You can be good in European games, but your reflection as a team is the league and we are underperforming.
08:53But then we have to see the context.
08:55You can see that we lack a lot of characteristics in our team.
09:00You want to push forward and sometimes you see Garner really tired, but you feel that during the game he is the only one who can make transitions.
09:09Get behind, yeah, yeah.
09:10So you feel a lot of...
09:12Physically, it's a bit of a problem.
09:14Yeah, I think so.
09:15Running pace, power, strength.
09:17Yeah, and when we play against European teams, you can feel that we can cope better with that.
09:23In Premier League, we suffer a lot.
09:25We can play good, but sometimes to create chances to let the players one against one with three defenders in the back, we try to do it today and manage to do it sometimes.
09:36In Premier League, it's completely different.
09:38Let's get positive, man.
09:39It's been a great result.
09:40Entertaining the emotions up and down all day.
09:43This must be a bit of belief now built into this team and to you now based on what you've achieved today and the emotion that runs alongside it.
09:50I think it's one type of moment that can change a lot of things and sometimes we just look at the tactical aspect, the physical aspect, but these kind of moments can change a lot in the player's mind.
10:03I think we'll have to be really focused on Europa League and we have to take a risk sometimes with the kids in the Premier League and we have to be tough on that and the fans have to understand that we have to focus on the Europa League.
10:22Athletic Bilbao next, where you hope to end this season lifting silverware, is there genuine belief in that dressing room and with you that you can go all the way and do it?
10:32Yes, you can see in the stadium.
10:35So everybody in the moment can believe that is possible.
10:39We need to be a little bit luck on the injuries to reach that with some players.
10:47It's going to be tough, but I had in my career one final and I had the semi-filing in Turin and the final was in Turin.
10:56So we lost the final, so let's change that.
10:59It could be the same as a coach.
11:01Before we let you go, we were just about to see Harry Maguire's winner when you were joining us.
11:05Let's watch it with...
11:10The impossible dream.
11:11Well, they don't need to dream, Rio, because they managed somehow, as you say, to pull off a miracle here tonight.
11:17Let's get some more Manchester United reaction now.
11:19Lenny Yoro has been talking to Danny Jameson.
11:24Lenny, what an absolutely crazy game to watch.
11:26What was it like to be a part of?
11:27Honestly, I don't understand what happened.
11:30That was crazy.
11:31You know, the fans, they were crazy.
11:32They really helped us to do it.
11:33And yeah, they really pulled off us.
11:36At 4-2 down in extra time, what's going through your mind?
11:40Honestly, a lot of things, you know, it's difficult.
11:42But when you hear the fans, even with 4-2, you know you can do it.
11:46And when we score the penalty, I was sure, you know, that was too crazy to not win this game.
11:52Yeah.
11:53So, when Bruno scores the penalty to make it 4-3, at that moment you think we're going to win this?
11:58Yeah, of course.
11:59We need to believe.
12:00If you don't believe, you cannot win.
12:01So, we give everything and thanks to God we win this game.
12:05Yeah.
12:06Everybody that we spoke to this week said that you're going to need the supporters tonight.
12:09It felt like they really turned up and roared you on, particularly that last five minutes when it got level.
12:13Yeah, honestly, this is what the fans deserve.
12:15They give everything and every game, whatever the position, the table, you know, they're always there to support us.
12:21So, I want to say thank you to the fans, you know, because this is because of them that we win the game.
12:26There's a famous line of commentary in this club's history, name on the trophy.
12:30Does it feel like maybe this could be a springboard to go to Bilbao in the semi-final and maybe win and make it back to the final of the Europa League this year?
12:38Of course.
12:39Our target is to win the trophy.
12:41You know, we are Manchester United.
12:42We need to believe for this.
12:44And I'm sure we can do it.
12:46We will give everything to do it.
12:49And this game shows everything, you know, until the last minute.
12:52And, yeah, that was crazy.
12:55Well done, Lennie.
12:56Thank you very much.
12:58I love that reaction.
12:59That was so genuine at the end from Lennie.
13:01That was just crazy.
13:03It must be so hard when you've played in a game like that.
13:06And you come off the pitch, you're asked to go into the interview room and do an interview.
13:10And how was that?
13:11How do you sum that up?
13:12I mean, it must be impossible.
13:14Yeah, it's difficult.
13:15You probably won't sleep for a couple of days.
13:17You were not sleeping tonight at Rio after a game like that.
13:19I'd have been out.
13:20Defensive as well.
13:215-4.
13:22It wasn't really a game for defensive people, was it?
13:25Look, it was amazing.
13:26It was incredible.
13:27They did get out of jail a little bit, of course.
13:30And they're going to play a better team in Athletic Bilbao.
13:32But as the manager said there, that noise when that goal goes in, when the fifth one goes in.
13:38And Kobe, mind you, with his brilliant goal as well.
13:41It's just, I keep saying it, but I'm pleased for him because he's had so many disappointments,
13:45especially Premier League-wise.
13:47He hasn't been...
13:48I said last week he didn't like his team.
13:50Probably the wrong word.
13:51I don't think he enjoys watching his team at times because he knows he expects a lot more.
13:57And he got a little bit of it tonight.
13:58He got that excitement.
13:59He got what this...
14:00And this is Europa League, remember?
14:01Imagine Champions League.
14:02Oh, crazy.
14:03The big games here, the atmosphere.
14:04If he builds a team that's good enough to compete, it'll be twice that.
14:08Well, they've given themselves a chance to still play in the Champions League next year, Rio.
14:12By staying in this competition, they go all the way.
14:14They win it.
14:15They lift that trophy.
14:16Not only is it silverware, but it's their way into the Champions League for next season.
14:21And they've kept their hopes alive now with that.
14:23Do you believe they can go all the way and do it?
14:25Well, they're in the shake-up.
14:26And I think that's all you can ask for.
14:27You want to get through.
14:28I said before the game, forget performance.
14:30Just get through.
14:31Get into the next round.
14:32And they've done that.
14:33So they've got a chance.
14:34But I think he does...
14:36This is a team that isn't a reflection of him.
14:38That's his biggest disappointment.
14:39I think that's what he wants to get nearer to.
14:41And you need time to build that.
14:43Here's how it's shaping up then, guys.
14:44So on Manchester United's side of the draw,
14:46they're going to be facing Athletic Bilbao in the semi-final.
14:50They're away for the first leg, then at home for the second leg,
14:53which is a big deal as well, like we saw tonight.
14:55Big cross, yeah.
14:56And on the other side of the draw, Tottenham facing Bodo Glimt.
14:59Will we see an all-English final?
15:01What do you think?
15:02I hope so, yeah.
15:04There's certainly a big chance of it.
15:06It'll depend on how United do in Bilbao, I think.
15:09If they can stay in that game,
15:11if maybe get a sneaker draw out there,
15:13or even behind by one goal,
15:15because we've seen what can happen to that.
15:17I don't think it's going to happen all the time,
15:18but there's always that chance.
15:19I think Bodo Glimt are a good team, actually.
15:21Yeah, same.
15:22I think they came in,
15:23and they were really lucky against Man United,
15:25and Tottenham will have a...
15:27It's going to be a good performance to try and get through to Tottenham.
15:29I think the big thing that you were speaking about before,
15:31I think is so critical,
15:32is how you go into that game physically.
15:35Man United need to be in a good place physically.
15:37Get your players, your experienced players back.
15:39If they do that, they're in a good place.
15:41He said it real there, he's going to play all the kids,
15:42but Premier League's gone, he's done.
15:44I think it's done for him as well.
15:45He's going to rest everyone for this competition now.
15:47Where did that rank in terms of games you've both watched as fans
15:50very quickly before we go?
15:52It's definitely top three.
15:53It's up there.
15:54I think it's got to be.
15:55Come on, wait.
15:56I'm just thinking Europa League.
15:58Yeah, it's true.
16:01Always rely on false goals, to be honest.
16:04Guys, thank you so much.
16:05We have just been witness to one of the most extraordinary nights
16:08I've certainly been in a stadium as a football fan.
16:11That was amazing.
16:12The highlights are on the way next
16:13if you want to watch it all again.
16:15But tonight, here at Old Trafford,
16:16it was Harry the Hero.
16:17Good night.
