00:19:21I think people forget how, just how dominant, uh, Dwight Howard was.
00:19:27I know that he isn't very popular amongst, uh, NBA players, but he was, at one point, the most dominant defensive player in the NBA.
00:19:39I mean, you don't win somewhere between, like, two and four straight Defensive Player of the Year awards, you know, for being a poor defender.
00:19:51So, oh yeah, you had the Spurs 15 years ago, so.
00:19:56Whereas, you know, uh, 15 years ago, you had, uh, in the East you had, uh, the Cavs, you had the Heat, you had the Celtics.
00:20:05The Magic were very good for a period of time.
00:20:10Detroit was good 20 years ago.
00:20:12So, actually, it's more spread out, actually, the parity.
00:20:18Now, I'd say, nowadays, uh, I'd definitely say the overall skill of the NBA player, the average NBA player is better.
00:20:27Because at least you, uh, the NBA player is definitely better at shooting.
00:20:33Well, let me say this.
00:20:35The NBA, back, I'd say, nowadays, the average NBA player is more well-rounded.
00:20:41They can do play just about every position.
00:20:44The average NBA player can.
00:20:46Now, whether they have the height, you know, or the size to do it is another thing.
00:20:51But skill-wise, they can.
00:20:53You don't, you didn't really see that 15, 20 years ago.
00:20:56You didn't really see, you know, many players play, uh, many, uh, good defensive players play well on offense and vice versa.
00:21:07You didn't really see, like, big men shoot, uh, shoot threes or, you know, really good shooters.
00:21:14Like, the Dirk Nowitzki's, when he played, they were more rare in his prime in the mid-2000s than they are now, I think.
00:21:24Like, Jokic and Anthony Davis are big men that can easily shoot and play well on defense, you know, when Anthony Davis is healthy.
00:21:34But you don't, whereas when Dirk Nowitzki was in his prime, that was more rare, actually.
00:21:40More, positionless basketball was more rare, so.
00:21:44So, I do think the skill of the average NBA player, uh, it has increased and has gone better.
00:22:03But I think that you don't really see people dominant at one position anymore, compared to like you did when this game came out.
00:22:15Like, Shaq and Yao Ming and Dwight Howard were dominant in the mid-to-late 2000s at the center position.
00:22:21And like, Kobe was, uh, Kobe was, uh, dominant like the shooting guard.
00:22:32And LeBron was in his prime.
00:22:35LeBron is still, you know, in my opinion, dominant.
00:22:41But, you know, he's starting to show his age now.
00:22:49But.
00:22:55Like, you'll definitely have people, uh, playing at elite levels.
00:22:58Even though I think the average NBA player is better today than they were 15, 20 years ago.
00:23:05Like, you know.
00:23:07But, like, Steph Curry is, like, an elite shooter.
00:23:12He's an elite point guard.
00:23:14You know, he's the best point guard in the game today.
00:23:19He's definitely the greatest shooter of all time, in my opinion.
00:23:25But, you know.
00:23:32Definitely say the talent level is better now than it was 20 years ago.
00:23:36But you don't, you don't see, uh, you definitely don't see, like, more people dominating.
00:23:43More of the same people dominating every night on a consistent basis.
00:23:46Now, like he did, like, 20 years ago, I think.
00:23:57We got blocked there.
00:24:05I know the first NBA game I ever, I ever attended was, uh, the.
00:24:09I don't remember what year it was.
00:24:11It was the season before the Amway, one of the Amway arenas in Orlando got, uh, torn down and got demolished.
00:24:21Because the, you know, the Magic ownership built a new stadium.
00:24:24So, it was like that, see, it was the season before.
00:24:27So, it was like a couple months before it was demolished.
00:24:30So, if you're in the, if you lived in Orlando, or an Orlando Magic fan, you know, of the area,
00:24:36and, you know, when it was actually, you know, you can tell me what the, the final season before
00:24:41that Amway building was destroyed, so.
00:24:48But it was between, uh, Boston and, uh, Orlando, actually.
00:24:54I've also went, met to my next NBA game four years later.
00:25:12It was in, um, oh gosh, it was in Dallas.
00:25:17It was between, uh, the Dallas Mavericks and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
00:25:21I know they, Oklahoma City had, uh, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and, uh, on their team
00:25:29as the star players.
00:25:30But I also remember Hashim Thabit, who was the tallest NBA player at the time.
00:25:37Not in the history, but he was the tallest active NBA player at the time on the Oklahoma City
00:25:43Thunder roster.
00:25:46And just being amazed at how tall he was in person.
00:25:51I, um, went to another game a few years later.
00:25:57It was in, uh, in 2017.
00:26:00It was in, um, okay, so the Dallas game I went to was in Dallas, not Oklahoma City.
00:26:07I was in Dallas.
00:26:08It was still between Dallas and, uh, Oklahoma City, but it was in Dallas.
00:26:12And then I went, actually, in 2017 in Oklahoma City to see the Warriors, the Golden State
00:26:18Warriors play the Oklahoma City Thunder.
00:26:21And, you know, that was the year Golden State, uh, won.
00:26:26One of the years Golden State won.
00:26:28But it was, like, their...
00:26:28I think it was the second year that, uh, the first of, like, definitely two seasons in
00:26:37which they won with Kevin Durant.

00:30:49He was drafted, but, when Milwaukee drafted him, so, but that turned out to be a great pick.
00:30:57And, you know, Nikola Jokic is, uh, I know here in the U.S. when the draft was shown, it was actually,
00:31:10he was picked during the Taco Bell commercial, and, uh, I'm sure ESPN regrets not showing him get drafted live,
00:31:18because he turned into an NBA champion.
00:31:22So, since this game came out, uh, I know Golden State has won their first championship.
00:31:38Miami won their first, too.
00:31:41Actually, uh, not Golden State, because Golden State had won a championship back in the 70s, but, you know,
00:31:46I'm thinking of Denver. Denver won their very first championship.
00:31:49Wait, this game came out in 2005, so this was, this would have been the season, this would have been around the time,
00:31:58you know, maybe a month before Miami began the season in which they won their first of three championships.
00:32:05So, they actually won three championships, but this was the year they won their first championship.
00:32:12In the year in which the season, their first championship season began, not necessarily ended, so.
00:32:19I know Toronto has won a championship since this game came out, because they won it in 2019.
00:32:26Denver also won their first, and Miami, as I mentioned, won three.

00:32:33Milwaukee ended, Milwaukee ended, Milwaukee and Golden State ended, uh, several, both teams ended, uh, decades-long
00:32:44championship drought in between their last title, uh, defenses.
