00:00Make pedophiles afraid again. I love it.
00:02This 11-year-old girl talking about things that were done to her that shouldn't have been done.
00:07Developing, you know, in certain areas.
00:10So one thing I want to note on is how close sex offenders live to schools around here.
00:16Oh, God, I'm such just a rotten sack of shit. I'm so sorry.
00:20In Aberdeen, Washington, a city councilman known for his tough-on-crime stance
00:25and commitment to ridding the streets of dangerous criminals
00:27shocks the public when he's accused of committing an unthinkable and heinous crime.
00:32So, Riley, is there truth to what he's saying?
00:35The following footage has never been seen before.
00:38Please note that this report is based on police records,
00:41and all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
00:4739-year-old Riley Carter began his campaign for city council in early 2023,
00:53promising an aggressive approach to cleaning up the city of Aberdeen.
00:56In January of 2024, he began serving as an elected official.
01:02However, on July 30th, 2024, a jaw-dropping accusation by his stepdaughter
01:07sends police on a search to arrest him, sending shockwaves through the community.
01:11I walk in.
01:13Just so you're aware of everything we have is audio recorded.
01:16We've got these fancy body cameras now.
01:18After police locate him walking alone down a residential street,
01:25he's led in handcuffs into a small interrogation room by a detective
01:28who's determined to find out if there's any truth to the horrifying claims.
01:33Shockingly, it was his own wife, Maya, who initially confronted him about the disturbing truth his stepdaughter revealed.
01:39I started freaking out on him, like, how could you, what the f*** is wrong with you kind of a thing,
01:44and he was just really calm and said, no, I didn't do this, and I hung up,
01:48and then he just took off, I guess, he just left.
01:52Did he say anything to you about it?
01:54No, he just said that he didn't do it.
01:56He swears up and down he didn't do it.
01:59Due to his status as a city councilman, the Aberdeen Police Department requested the investigation
02:05to be handled by the Grays Harbor Sheriff's Office in an effort to avoid a conflict of interest.
02:11After reading his Miranda rights, the interrogation begins,
02:14but Riley has yet to realize the source of the allegations.
02:19Riley explains he had a typical morning, but everything changed when Maya arrived home.
02:24When Maya left with no response, he called her cell phone for an explanation.
02:41She accused him of committing an unthinkable act and hung up the phone.
02:45However, as Maya explains, their conversation continued over Facebook Messenger.
02:50When she realized she had no tangible evidence of his crimes,
02:54she decided to take a risk.
02:56And I bluffed and said, I have you on camera,
02:59just seeing if that would incite anything out of him,
03:03and he just stopped responding to me at that point.
03:05As Riley explains, Maya's anger over the situation was visceral,
03:10and he was left with a chilling command.
03:12I go down to the basement, and she told me,
03:16so I did set up the rope, I thought about it.
03:18But I really did, because I'm done, man.
03:25I am done.
03:27I am just done.
03:29I'm maxed out.
03:31I am maxed out.
03:33Everything that we have gone through in life, everything.
03:35And now this?
03:37And it doesn't matter, because being on city council,
03:40everybody knows now.
03:41It's over now.
03:43And we were right there, man.
03:45Everybody was amped up.
03:47We were going to change some things and everything.
03:49And now that's gone.
03:51It's gone.
03:52It's all gone.
03:53June 24th, just one month prior,
03:56Riley posted a video to his Facebook page
03:58in an attempt to shed a light on criminal activity in his neighborhood.
04:02These videos will have an eerie relevance later,
04:05when the exact allegations are revealed.
04:07Buddy, how are you?
04:09We're out driving around.
04:11Got the babies to sleep.
04:13It's just one of those days, I guess.
04:15Anyways, I thought it would be a good idea
04:17to maybe take you guys along with me,
04:20and we'll go drive around downtown.
04:21And we'll just go look at things,
04:23and maybe I can talk about things, you know,
04:25that I'd like to see different,
04:27or things to be approved on,
04:29or whatever it may be.
04:31But I'm just going to keep it fun,
04:32keep it relaxed,
04:33and be myself.
04:35All right, here we go.
04:36So one thing I want to note on
04:37is how close sex offenders live to schools around here,
04:43how close they are to bus stops,
04:45how easy it is for them to just have instant access
04:48to anyone or anybody's kids here,
04:52you know, in each of these neighborhoods.
04:54Sorry, I had to hit my brakes there
04:55because it looked like a tweaker game
04:57shooting out of the alley,
04:59and almost got in front of my car.
05:01Which is something, you know,
05:03that really needs to be addressed, okay?
05:06All right, so I know one place
05:08a lot of people want to see
05:09is the camp underneath the bridge.
05:15I will state, however,
05:17I have my baby girls with me,
05:19so I'm not going to take them down there
05:22just because people know who I am around here.
05:27And the last thing I would want
05:29is a rock to fly through my window
05:30and hit one of my daughters
05:31because the way this state works,
05:34I could see me going to prison
05:36because somebody hit my daughter with a rock
05:38and I beat that person to death.
05:39I mean, that's just, come on,
05:40wouldn't you do that for your own kids?
05:42Despite his apparent determination
05:44to do whatever it takes to protect his children,
05:47as it turns out,
05:48Riley's shocking secret was revealed
05:50by his own 11-year-old stepdaughter,
05:53whose name has been redacted from the interview
05:55to protect her identity.
05:57So statements weren't made to me initially.
06:03She told her counselor today
06:05that they were talking about something different
06:07and broke down crying
06:08and said she didn't want to talk about it.
06:12In a recorded interview
06:13with his stepdaughter's therapist,
06:15she explains what happened earlier this morning
06:17when it quickly became clear
06:19that something was horribly wrong.
06:21So we had an appointment at 2 o'clock
06:24and she'd been displaying some behaviors
06:27and had reported two weeks prior
06:30that her son was mean to her.
06:32So we were going to talk more about it today.
06:35She said she didn't want to talk about it.
06:37She didn't want to say it out loud.
06:39In an effort to help the child,
06:40she suggested writing it down.
06:43However, the disturbing words she wrote on the page
06:45left the counselor in shock.
06:47When she wrote that down,
06:49can you tell me what her emotions look like
06:51and how she was acting?
06:53So before she wrote it down,
06:55when she said she didn't want to say it out loud,
06:57she started just staring down at the ground.
06:59She was like stone cold.
07:01You could tell she was checking out
07:03and she was kind of fidgeting her hands.
07:05And I've been her therapist
07:07for probably a little bit over two years
07:09and she's never acted like that.
07:11So that was out of the norm?
07:12That is completely out of the norm.
07:14Her facial expression looked as if she was scared,
07:18like fear.
07:19And then she wrote it down
07:20and then she kind of had this look of,
07:23oh no, or I'm in trouble or something.
07:26The haunting words written by the child
07:28will later be revealed.
07:30For now, in an attempt to understand her claims,
07:32investigators begin to dig
07:34into their familial relationship.
07:36So can you talk about what your relationship is
07:38and how long you've been in her life?
07:41Since she was four,
07:45I think she's a great kid.
07:47She's, I don't know how to explain it,
07:51always just outgoing,
07:53but kind of kept used to herself.
07:58A good kid.
08:02And so you're...
08:03Was that a hard role to step into
08:07with her being that young?
08:11Yes and no.
08:14I always kept in the back of my head
08:16that there's going to be a time
08:18when she gets to know her real dad.
08:20And so that's a line
08:22that needs to be respected.
08:24And that's now me
08:26to try to take that place,
08:29just stay available,
08:32you know.
08:33That's about the best I could do.
08:36Okay.
08:38What, like,
08:39how close would you guys be
08:41as far as being her son?
08:42You guys...
08:43I always thought we were, like,
08:47close,
08:48not, like, super close,
08:49just...
08:51Like,
08:52I'd say she felt comfortable
08:54to always, like,
08:55throw fits in front of me.
08:58You know,
08:58ask for, like,
09:00things for her birthday
09:01or Christmas
09:01or complain
09:03or, you know,
09:05tell me about her favorite color
09:06or food or something.
09:09What kind of activities
09:10would you guys do together?
09:12Oh,
09:13I would say much
09:14aside from watching TV.
09:16Um,
09:18yeah,
09:20that's,
09:20that's about,
09:22about it.
09:25In the living room.
09:26Yeah.
09:27Okay.
09:28Um,
09:28and then
09:29do you guys
09:30have two other kids
09:31between you
09:32and their children?
09:33Yes,
09:33we have two
09:34and then our son
09:35that passed away.
09:36Okay.
09:36So we have, uh,
09:39she's five
09:40and then, um,
09:41she's two.
09:43Okay.
09:43And do you feel like
09:45you have a similar relationship
09:46with all three kids
09:47or do you feel like
09:48you're closer
09:48with your two
09:49biological kids?
09:51It's a different
09:52kind of relationship,
09:54um,
09:54I'd say with my stepkids.
09:56Riley's videos
09:57reveal a pattern
09:58in which he often
09:59describes a willingness
10:00to do anything
10:01to protect his children
10:02from local crime.
10:04However,
10:05the harrowing words
10:06of his stepdaughter
10:07may suggest
10:07that the dangers
10:08were much closer to home
10:09than anyone realized.
10:11Oh, God,
10:12I'm such,
10:13just a rotten sack of shit.
10:14It's your daughters.
10:19You know,
10:20you never,
10:20you never,
10:21you never know up
10:23until you have a kid.
10:24You know what?
10:25That's the one thing
10:26that keeps you going.
10:28You never know pain
10:29until you hold
10:29your own dead kid.
10:31That really messes you up,
10:33too.
10:33Yet it was the
10:34bone-chilling note
10:35written by the 11-year-old girl
10:37that truly left
10:38her therapist in shock
10:39and her mother,
10:40Maya,
10:41enraged.
10:41So she wrote it down
10:43and what she wrote was
10:44he touches me
10:45and makes me
10:46uncomfortable.
10:47In April 2024,
10:50just four months
10:50prior to his arrest,
10:52Riley began
10:53a crowdfunding campaign
10:54to launch
10:54a non-profit
10:55aimed at catching
10:57online predators
10:57and deterring them
10:58from engaging
10:59in harmful acts
11:00against children.
11:01Hey, what up, everybody?
11:02A little bit of story time.
11:03So I live in an incredibly
11:04liberal state,
11:06Washington, yeah.
11:07And every time I wear
11:08this hat out in public,
11:09you know,
11:09people always give me
11:10those looks of,
11:11ooh, it's a MAGA hat,
11:12ooh, it's so, so bad,
11:13he hates everyone,
11:13b-b-b-b-b-b.
11:14But then they read it
11:15and usually they have
11:17a pretty good laugh,
11:18you know,
11:19in the support of it.
11:20Then again,
11:21you still do get
11:21those people
11:22that are offended by it,
11:23but, you know,
11:23imagine that in a blue state.
11:24Ha!
11:25You know,
11:25ooh, they have rights too.
11:27No, no, they don't.
11:27The victim does,
11:29but they shouldn't have any.
11:30So pretty cool hat
11:32and make pedophiles
11:32afraid again.
11:33I love it.
11:34So yeah,
11:34people always mistake it
11:35for a MAGA hat
11:36and it's just great.
11:37His videos seem to express
11:39that he would go to any lengths
11:40to ensure their safety,
11:42becoming a vocal advocate
11:43for devoted fathers.
11:45Hey, what's up, everybody?
11:47Want to make a quick message
11:48for you on this Father's Day,
11:50right?
11:50So here's the deal.
11:53A lot of women out there
11:55are doing the whole,
11:56ah, I'm more of a man
11:57than my man,
11:58so f*** them dudes.
11:59Uh-uh,
11:59they don't need no f***ing
12:00appreciation with this.
12:01Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh.
12:03Stop it.
12:04Just, just stop it.
12:06Here's why, okay?
12:07You think that it's
12:08an empowering moment,
12:10but the problem is
12:11you're trying to take
12:13something away
12:14from a lot of really,
12:15really good dudes out there
12:17that are actually really good
12:19to their kids, right?
12:21And there are actually
12:22a lot of really hard-working,
12:24awesome single moms out there,
12:26right?
12:27That, they pull both roles
12:29and they do deserve
12:30that recognition.
12:31So if you're not feeling validated,
12:33don't take it out
12:34on everyone else.
12:37This message was brought to you
12:39by an American that gives a...
12:40Have a wonderful day.
12:42Given Riley's outspoken stance
12:45against preying on children,
12:46the question remains,
12:48do these horrifying allegations
12:50hold any truth?
12:51Fully aware of the chilling details,
12:54having spoken to the girl himself,
12:56the detective continues his efforts
12:57to extract answers from Riley.
12:59I sat in an interview with
13:01just a little while ago
13:03and watched her
13:05basically relive it again
13:08when she was having to describe
13:10what was happening.
13:10I don't know how
13:12an 11-year-old girl
13:13was strong as...
13:16But she was very descriptive
13:20of what was happening.
13:22And like I said,
13:23we're not here to cast judgment
13:24and we're not here
13:25to label people
13:26and understand
13:28there's things that happen
13:30in our lives
13:31that have caused us
13:32to make mistakes.
13:33This 11-year-old girl
13:34talking about
13:35things that were done to her
13:37that shouldn't have been done.
13:38She was talking about
13:51being told to
13:52keep it a secret
13:54and not tell anybody.
13:55And she was talking today
13:57about how she couldn't
13:58keep it in sight no more
13:59and she had to tell somebody.
14:03So Riley,
14:04is there truth
14:04to what she's saying?
14:05Many of Riley's videos
14:07even exposed
14:08the potential dangers
14:09lurking on their
14:10residential street
14:11captured on their
14:12home surveillance system.
14:14However,
14:14it's a different set
14:15of security cameras
14:16that may hold the key
14:17to unearthing the truth
14:18of the unsettling allegations
14:20against Riley.
14:21Riley,
14:22can you tell me more
14:22about the cameras?
14:24I was trying to understand
14:26what the camera situation was
14:28and I kept hearing
14:29about cameras.
14:31So,
14:32what are they for?
14:33Oh,
14:34I'm in every room,
14:36like the kids' rooms
14:37and then she's got them
14:39throughout the house
14:40and we put them
14:41on the outside of the house
14:42for security reasons.
14:44And the main reason for it
14:45is just
14:46one of the stepkids
14:48is autistic
14:49and he'll have like
14:51meltdowns
14:51or whatever may be
14:52and then that way
14:53she will keep an eye on them.
14:54And when they're
14:57in the house,
14:58like are they
14:58inside the bedrooms
15:00or like in the hallways
15:01or how are they
15:02set up in there?
15:05So,
15:06in these kids' rooms,
15:08they have
15:09a camera
15:10like inside the room
15:11and then
15:13in the hallway
15:13or like
15:15the entryway,
15:17there's one
15:17on this wall here.
15:18Okay.
15:20Do you have access
15:21to view those cameras
15:23or is that
15:24just
15:24According to Maya,
15:26however,
15:27an alarming discrepancy
15:28was uncovered
15:29when she reviewed
15:29the footage.
15:30My daughter
15:31told me
15:32that he was
15:33unplugging
15:33all of our cameras
15:35that led
15:36to her room.
15:37I went
15:37and I checked
15:38the cameras
15:39on my phone
15:40and the time frames
15:42that she told me
15:43he's been unplugging
15:44the cameras.
15:45There are no footage
15:46and I've noticed
15:47that they've been
15:48unplugged
15:49or whatever.
15:50I thought it was her.
15:51The plug
15:52to that camera
15:53is at the very top
15:55like almost touching
15:56the ceiling
15:56so it's not something
15:58that she can reach
15:59unless she pushes
16:00her chair up there
16:00which would be
16:01caught on camera
16:02if she did that.
16:04It looked like
16:04this is 7.30
16:06is when the earliest
16:07recording is this morning.
16:09That's unusual.
16:10Mm-hmm.
16:10And then I went back
16:11and checked
16:12all the cameras
16:13that are upstairs
16:14that face her door
16:15and every single
16:16one of them
16:16it is most days
16:18it's after 7.30 a.m.
16:20is when they all
16:21start recording.
16:22Then every other
16:22camera's on
16:23around the house?
16:24Yes.
16:25They're not off?
16:25Only the ones
16:26leading to her room
16:27and in her room
16:27are off?
16:28Correct.
16:29With only the child's claims
16:30the detectives
16:31must work to get
16:32a confession
16:32from Riley himself.
16:34The officer urges him
16:35to admit
16:36to the horrifying act
16:37telling him
16:38their only goal
16:39is to get to
16:39the bottom of the truth.
16:41However, Riley hesitates
16:42as he grapples
16:43with what to do next.
16:45Yes, for a while
16:46too, for a while
16:47too, for a while
16:47too, for a while
16:47too, for a while
16:47too, for a while
16:49Shoot, yes
16:50Yes, be a goddamn man, Riley.
16:53Be a goddamn man
16:54for watching
16:56your miserable existence
16:57so you'll
16:59don't turn it back.
17:02We're already
17:03at this point
17:03we are here.
17:08I don't know
17:09why I say it like that.
17:10there are things
17:16that I can't do.
17:21As the interrogation
17:22continues
17:23the investigator
17:24urges Riley
17:25to confess.
17:26However,
17:26getting a straight
17:27answer from him
17:28will be no easy task.
17:30When you woke up today
17:31this was the last place
17:32you'd expect to be.
17:34But it's what we do
17:35moving forward
17:37from here
17:37is what's going
17:38to affect
17:38a lot of lives
17:39and
17:40there, like I said
17:42there's ways
17:42to get through this
17:43there's programs
17:44that can be offered
17:45through the court
17:45there's things
17:46that can be offered
17:46that help you
17:48deal with
17:48the demons
17:50and all the things
17:51that you've been
17:51dealing with
17:52the stress
17:53there's ways
17:55to get through
17:55what happened
17:57and to help
17:59everybody move on
17:59from it
18:00but it starts
18:01right here
18:02by being
18:03truthful
18:03and it starts
18:04right now
18:05it's
18:05saying that you've
18:07fucked up
18:08because I believe
18:10what you said
18:11it's really hard
18:23to you know
18:28accept things
18:32for what they are
18:33there are certain
18:36things in life
18:36you don't
18:38recover from
18:41I want to tell you
18:43guys
18:43I do
18:44I'm trying
18:46I got all night
18:49Riley
18:50you guys got
18:54families
18:55that's important
18:57you know
19:00god this just sucks
19:04so close
19:06so close
19:08to accomplishing
19:09good things
19:09doing something
19:11great
19:11so close
19:12to getting
19:12the drugs
19:13out of her
19:13need
19:13so close
19:15to getting
19:15all the
19:16craziness
19:18out of the
19:18streets
19:19so many people
19:20believe in me
19:21and now it's
19:23over
19:23it's going
19:24as Riley
19:25as Riley keeps
19:25deflecting the
19:26subject
19:26providing little
19:27to no hints
19:28it appears
19:29as though the
19:30detective won't
19:30rest until the
19:31truth is
19:32exposed
19:32she said the
19:33last time it
19:34happened was
19:34this morning
19:35and she talked
19:38about how her
19:38camera gets
19:39unplugged before
19:40you come in the
19:40room and she
19:41just pretends
19:42to sleep
19:42but she said
19:43that it
19:46wouldn't matter
19:46if she was
19:47sleeping or
19:47awake
19:48it would
19:50happen anyway
19:50and so right
19:53now we're
19:54collecting
19:55she's up at
19:55the hospital
19:56and collecting
19:56DNA samples
19:58and this is
20:01this opportunity
20:02where I'm
20:04offering a
20:05chance to
20:05explain what
20:07happened and
20:08if a mistake
20:09was made
20:09it's time to
20:11be truthful
20:11and take
20:13ownership of
20:14a mistake
20:14and not let
20:15it catch up
20:16to you
20:16down the road
20:17being proven
20:18by DNA
20:19because we
20:20get touch
20:21DNA off of
20:21things all
20:22the time
20:22there's the
20:23sweat glands
20:23in your fingers
20:24contain DNA
20:25I did go out
20:28to her room
20:28this morning
20:28I didn't
20:29touch her
20:30I did not
20:31touch her
20:32I went up
20:33there
20:34let's see
20:37I don't
20:38remember
20:39see if she
20:39wanted nuggets
20:40or something
20:40so I made
20:42some nuggets
20:42for the
20:43younger ones
20:44if you
20:49didn't touch
20:49her this
20:50morning
20:50what would
20:50cause her
20:51to say
20:53that that
20:53happened
20:54I don't
20:57know
20:57what would
20:59cause her
20:59to say
21:00that this
21:00wasn't the
21:00only time
21:01that it
21:01happened
21:02it's
21:02happened
21:02lots of
21:03times
21:03I don't
21:05know
21:05the disturbing
21:07admission
21:07finally unveils
21:08the truth
21:09though nothing
21:10prepares the
21:11detectives for
21:11the sick
21:12and twisted
21:12reasoning
21:13he'll later
21:14give
21:14about how
21:15many times
21:15did this
21:16happen
21:16five times
21:26maybe
21:26just real
21:31fast
21:32I don't
21:33know
21:33just a
21:33weird impulse
21:35tick
21:36over
21:37over how
21:37long
21:37period
21:38of time
21:38I'd
21:41say
21:41a year
21:41during
21:43those
21:44five times
21:45would you
21:46unplug the
21:46camera when
21:47you went
21:47into her
21:47bedroom
21:48no
21:49no
21:51she would
21:54already have
21:54it unplugged
21:56she would
21:58do it
21:58she would
21:58unplug it
21:59I don't know
22:01like
22:01according to
22:02the child
22:03however
22:03the cameras
22:04were mostly
22:04unplugged
22:05by Riley
22:05himself
22:06how did
22:07it start
22:07sorry
22:11I'm
22:11just that
22:13I have
22:15ADHD
22:15pretty severe
22:17so I get
22:17that
22:18in my mind
22:20thinking of
22:21the house
22:21bills
22:24and just
22:26now me
22:28now I'm
22:28here
22:29now that's
22:31all separated
22:32and I have
22:33to accept
22:34that
22:34I'm
22:36going to
22:36start my
22:36new job
22:37tomorrow
22:37tomorrow
22:38back
22:39off
22:39and I
22:41left with
22:42a piece
22:42of car
22:43never get
22:45the SUV
22:45fixed
22:46needs a
22:47new engine
22:47now I
22:49gotta worry
22:50about her
22:50how she
22:50gonna make
22:51it
22:51how she
22:51gonna do
22:52things
22:52and
22:54we'll
22:55also be
22:55concerned
22:56about
22:56sleeping
22:56at night
22:57and wake
22:57up in
22:57the morning
22:58to
22:58Riley
22:59coming in
23:00her bedroom
23:00doesn't have
23:02to worry
23:02about that
23:03before confronting
23:04Riley with
23:05the crucial
23:05question of
23:06why he would
23:06harm his
23:07own
23:07stepdaughter
23:07he poses
23:08a different
23:09question
23:09his answer
23:10however
23:11further exposes
23:12how little
23:12Riley appears
23:13to understand
23:14the gravity
23:15of the
23:15situation
23:16you ever
23:16talk to her
23:17her
23:17um
23:18no
23:20yeah
23:23actually
23:25I apologized
23:26to her
23:26once
23:27twice
23:27when it
23:29happened
23:29or just
23:30randomly
23:31um
23:32when it
23:33happened
23:33tell me about
23:35one of the
23:35times that you
23:35apologized
23:36what happened
23:36i don't know
23:38how to
23:39explain it
23:39i just
23:40told her
23:41i
23:41i
23:43one of my
23:43exact words
23:44to her
23:44that said
23:45something
23:45along the
23:45lines of
23:46uh
23:46kid i'm
23:47so sorry
23:48you know
23:48i don't
23:49i don't
23:51i don't even
23:51know what
23:51the hell
23:52that was
23:52about
23:52and i
23:54apologized
23:55and
23:58that was
23:59about it
23:59she didn't
24:00really
24:00you know
24:00think
24:01anything
24:01out of it
24:01but god
24:02what the
24:02was she
24:03awake
24:03that time
24:04when you
24:04apologized
24:05because
24:05obviously
24:05yeah
24:06is that
24:07how the
24:07conversation
24:08came out
24:08i just
24:10do it
24:10silent
24:11and uh
24:12you know
24:13good
24:13good vibe
24:14in the air
24:14wasn't
24:15nothing
24:15weird
24:16or anything
24:16and then
24:17uh
24:18they just
24:19said hey
24:19you know
24:20i did that
24:21i'm really
24:22i'm really
24:22sorry
24:22so i don't
24:24know
24:24i don't
24:25understand
24:26what was
24:26that about
24:26and then i
24:27asked her
24:27are you
24:27okay
24:28and i
24:29said
24:30yeah
24:30fine
24:30in an
24:31exclusive
24:32interview
24:32obtained
24:33only by
24:33iwu
24:34maya
24:34will soon
24:35speak
24:35out
24:36offering her
24:37advice for
24:37parents of
24:38young children
24:39in the meantime
24:40before facing
24:41the inevitable
24:42consequences
24:42investigators appear
24:44determined to find
24:45an answer to a
24:46crucial question
24:47the why is the
24:48number one
24:49question why
24:50everybody wants
24:51to know
24:52everybody wants
24:53to know why
24:53we can't we
24:54can't prove why
24:55by cell phone
24:56records or
24:57dna evidence
24:59or video footage
25:01that just proves
25:03the who
25:03and the what
25:04and the how
25:04the why
25:07comes from
25:07these conversations
25:09and obviously
25:10it's huge
25:11huge mistake
25:12huge
25:13we've
25:14i
25:15oh
25:15distress in our
25:17home has been
25:18unreal
25:18i don't want to
25:19just give me a
25:19bunch
25:20excuses
25:21i should be
25:22my own
25:23person
25:23you know
25:25i don't want to
25:26use
25:26always get so
25:27mad at me
25:28and scream at me
25:29to not use
25:30certain things
25:31as excuses
25:32but you know
25:33it's
25:34that's
25:35that's what's
25:36going on
25:37it's
25:37there's
25:37so much
25:38just on my
25:39shoulders at
25:40all times
25:41just
25:41chewing in my
25:42ear
25:43constantly
25:44um
25:46it's
25:46it sucks
25:47it really
25:48really really
25:49sucks
25:50i guess
25:51it's not even
25:52a
25:53sexual thing
25:55i don't feel
25:56attracted
25:57it's just this
25:58weird
25:58impulse
26:00i don't
26:00i don't know
26:01i don't know
26:04it's
26:04it's so weird
26:05god this is just
26:06a weird
26:07conversation
26:08developing you know
26:13in certain
26:14areas
26:14and
26:15you know
26:17i just
26:17what's wrong
26:20with me
26:20with riley's
26:21confession
26:22along with an
26:23unsettling answer
26:23to the question
26:24of why he would
26:25have committed
26:25such a depraved
26:26act
26:27his arrest
26:28is imminent
26:28however the
26:30investigator has
26:31one final
26:31heartbreaking
26:32question
26:33would you have
26:35anything to tell
26:35her
26:36oh i'm beyond
26:39sorry of
26:40all the damage
26:41this has caused
26:42her her mom
26:43her sisters
26:44her brothers
26:44the community
26:45literally
26:47everything and
26:48everyone that is
26:49let down by this
26:50i'm sorry to
26:52recover
26:53i deserve
26:54whatever's coming
26:55my direction
26:55i deserve it
26:57and i hope
27:00that she can
27:01heal
27:01and heal
27:03and they'll
27:05find what it
27:07is that they
27:07need in their
27:09life to live the
27:10absolute best life
27:11that they can
27:13an apology
27:14an apology
27:14however will
27:15do little
27:15to prevent
27:16the consequences
27:16that await him
27:17as he's led
27:18away in handcuffs
27:19and taken to
27:20grays harbor
27:20county jail
27:21in the meantime
27:23riley's wife
27:23maya shares
27:24red flags
27:25she noticed
27:26after his
27:26arrest
27:27and offers
27:27advice for
27:28parents
27:28hoping to
27:29prevent the
27:30same terrifying
27:30fate from
27:31happening to
27:32others
27:32he did not
27:33get along
27:33with my
27:34boys
27:34because my
27:35boys are
27:35on the
27:36spectrum
27:36and they're
27:36just they
27:37clashed a lot
27:38they're teenage
27:38boys and so
27:39i didn't think
27:40anything of that
27:41until everything
27:42came out
27:42it wasn't a red
27:43flag in the
27:44moment as it
27:44was happening
27:45but then like
27:46after this all
27:47came out that
27:48that's what was
27:49actually happening
27:49it's like oh
27:50oh crap
27:52background checks
27:53mean nothing
27:54for women that
27:55are dating right
27:56now background
27:56checks mean
27:57nothing because
27:57he had nothing
27:58he was squeaky
27:59clean
28:00and i i had
28:03four children
28:04when i first
28:04met him
28:05i didn't really
28:06see any red
28:07flags at first
28:08nothing really
28:09happened um
28:10to a severity
28:11i should've been
28:12paying attention
28:12to it until
28:13we bought our
28:14house together
28:15and then i was
28:17100% reliant
28:18on him i had
28:18quit his quit
28:19my job i helped
28:20him get sober
28:21so that he can
28:22go back and get
28:22to work and
28:23everything and
28:24no woman should
28:26ever put herself
28:26out for a man
28:27just even though
28:28you think you
28:28love him and
28:29you think it
28:29won't be him
28:30it probably
28:31will be
28:32after riley's
28:33arrest maya
28:34explains that
28:34the public
28:35response to
28:36their situation
28:36has led her
28:37to becoming
28:38a target of
28:38unexpected
28:39scrutiny
28:39with many
28:41people questioning
28:41why she has
28:42cameras in her
28:43children's rooms
28:43in the first
28:44place
28:44i do have
28:45disabled children
28:46that require
28:48severe supervision
28:49and they've been
28:50in home care
28:50and like all
28:52these sorts of
28:52different cares
28:53and i was
28:54advised by
28:55professionals to
28:56have these
28:56cameras
28:5739 year old
28:58riley tyrell
