00:00and silver. Most people have taken their seats, and you're about to find out why.
00:11So they're scheduled for 10 or fewer in the super welterweight division.
00:25Cutler looking for the right hand off the back of the jab.
00:30Eggington just creeping in, as he tends to do, finishes on a left-hand there.
00:51Oxford European title last year against Abbas Baral.
00:57Lost by majority. Decision has had a win since then, Eggington.
01:03Cutler with that win against McKenna.
01:07Well, Eggington's boxed up by far at the higher level.
01:16He's a big step up for Cutler.
01:18I guess they feel they're catching Eggington on the way down at the right time.
01:23But like you say, only a fight ago, Eggington had that close loss for the European title.
01:31So there's still a handful for anyone at this weight, and Cutler hasn't been here at this level.
01:37But he is coming up his best win, his confidence. He's at an all-time high.
01:44So it's the right time, I guess, to make that move. Good left hook there from Cutler on the inside.
01:50And then just turned smartly around that front foot as well, looking for the right hand up the back of it.
01:54And again, there's that tight left hook up close.
01:58It seems like people have been thinking they're getting Eggington on the downside for about the last ten years.
02:08He's had some really, really good wins. He's been in fights of the year a number of times. Cutler with a nice left-handed to the body there.
02:22He's positioning himself well here, Cutler on the inside. He's short and stocky.
02:28And he's getting lower than Eggington, so he's in a stronger position when they are in close.
02:32And he's using the short left hook effectively on the inside.
02:38They're very different physically. Eggington, lean, long, always has been. Cutler filled out since that.
02:50Weigh in. Weigh's tapering into a wide back and solid shoulders.
03:00Yeah, short and stocky build to Cutler, but he actually is more of a boxer.
03:04Long range, straight stuff, good jab, good right hand. It's the long range stuff where he's at best.
03:11And as he was telling us earlier in the weekly Cutler, he actually has some history with Eggington's career.
03:17He's always in good shape, Sam. He always gives anyone a hard fight. We've seen it over the years.
03:26It's a bit surreal. It only seems like yesterday that I was actually on the way to
03:29the 0-2 with a few of my mates to watch David Haye versus Tony Bellew. And on that card was Sam Eggington when he stopped Paulie Malignaggi.
03:38Down goes Malignaggi in the eighth. That looked heavy. Paulie Malignaggi's been knocked out here. That's a big win for Sam Eggington.
03:49And I think I boxed amateur in a little sports all the night before. And now I'm here boxing him. But don't get me wrong. I'm still here to steal the show and get that win.
03:59Paulie Malignaggi actually retired after that fight and then helped Eggington prepare for his European title fight against Semerino Rodriguez.
04:09Because Malignaggi had been slated to fight him for the European title. Eggington ended up doing it, got the win.
04:16And that's the kind of level that he's been at since then, basically.
04:24Nice jab there from Eggington.
04:26Followed up with a little right hand as well up close.
04:39Nice short lead left from Eggington again there as Cutler was coming in.
04:42And another left hand as these two just looked to try and let go on the inside.
04:46Eggington just leaning on Cutler managing to move off the ropes. Good uppercut there though from Eggington.
04:58Yeah, good inside work from Eggington.
05:00Cutler landed left hook as well as they both try and find enough space just to find the target.
05:07Just shooting that jab, Eggington didn't quite reach. They were both just standing off each other for a few seconds there.
05:20Low lead hand for the pair of them. Cutler has got that right hand cocked and ready to go. Eggington has got it more around the waist.
05:38Both landing jabs.
05:47Both landing jabs.
05:53And then the pair of them just shutting down the space as they came forward simultaneously.
06:00They're looking at the Cut here. Clash of heads maybe. Blood definitely coming down the left eye I think from Eggington.
06:07Well it was probably when they came together just a few seconds ago. A bit of reddening around that right eye.
06:16I'm not sure if there's any blood there. A bit of rubbing. Maybe a slight abrasion. There's some reddening around the left eye of Cutler too.
06:24There's that left on the inside there from Cutler. He's thrown that well and landed it a few times so far.
06:33Looked to try and follow it up with the right but he's found a home for that.
06:37And on the break there he throws and lands the right hand. It brings an immediate complaint from Eggington then.
06:43A swift apology from his opponents.
06:46I think there is blood there. There is.
06:52There is. It's taken a little bit of time to seep out but there is pretty much in the middle of the eyebrow I think.
06:58So not in the best spot.
07:01Final few seconds of round two.
07:22Final few seconds of round two.
07:32Right. So it was head. So Sam just keep boxing him. The double jab is perfect. Yeah.
07:38Double jab lots of feints. He's getting two down so he's going to start to get desperate. Just keep piling up the points. Yeah.
07:44Don't overreach. Yeah. Don't overreach. That's the Eggington corner Kerry Caves. Vastly experienced Cutman working on that Cutler.
07:54On the right eyebrow. It was a head clash. There.
08:00Right in the middle of the eyebrow.
08:04Which is potentially a problem because the blood could just dribble into the eye and affect his vision.
08:11This is a ten round fight. So we need to get beyond the completion of four rounds.
08:19Should the fight get stopped at any point due to this cut. Before that we will have a technical decision draw. Beyond that.
08:26And it would go to the scorecards. Let's hope that that doesn't happen.
08:31But you can see Eggington just dabbing at it there because where it's positioned Matt it is a problem.
08:36Nice left hand on the inside there from Eggington. Yeah. Good short left uppercut from Eggington.
08:40He's landed a few good uppercuts on the inside. Experience.
08:44Knows how to get his hands free and work there. But yeah, the Cut could be a problem if it drips into the eye end.
08:51I guess if you're conscious that after four rounds it goes to the scorecards if it gets stopped.
08:56You kind of, you don't want to let these rounds be slipping away. You want to be making sure you're winning them all.
09:02That's exactly right and he has come out quite quick at the start of the third here Eggington.
09:07I thought Cutler probably did enough in the first. Eggington maybe enough in the second.
09:12There's not been a lot in it as we suspected there wouldn't be.
09:19Right hand there from Eggington. Cutler threw his own at the same time. I'm not sure if that one landed.
09:24Take a step back, take a step back, take a step back.
09:27Take a step back, take a step back.
09:40A pair of him just swapping jabs. Stipper jab there I think was from Cutler.
09:44Eggington trying to stoop and find that lead left to the body.
09:47A little faint with the front foot there from Eggington and again.
09:56There's plenty of intent from these two. It's been just a little bit messy at times.
10:00Just caught a right hand there Cutler, I think he just switched off slightly.
10:12Eggington let go of him, created a bit of space for the punch and again with the left hand there.
10:18I think Eggington using his experience on the inside just to get a bit of room and landing some nice short shots.
10:28That's been the difference in this round, he's just created the space slightly better.
10:31He did it again there, just shrugged him up with the shoulder then found one round the side, an uppercut underneath as well.
10:37Cutler's getting through with some of his own but Eggington is outlanding him in this round so far.
10:42Again there Eggington nice and busy, there's the shoulder, pushes him off, creates a bit of space.
10:47Using his experience here Sam, creating space, using short.
10:51You know, it doesn't look like he can land the shots but he's managed to thread them through.
10:55Short, pulling his feet back to create the room.
11:01Even there, nice short shots, pulling Cutler onto them.
11:05It's going to be second, nice balls, it's going to be second.
11:07Can't be looking for the upper shoulder.
11:09It's worked well, let's go backstage.
11:12Liam Cameron is with James Savandra.
11:15Well it's been quite the build up Liam, are you just looking forward to stepping into the ring now?
11:19Yeah, I'm quite calm to be fair.
11:22You don't know what to expect here but I'm confident.
11:25All the pressure is on Ben.
11:27Do you feel a sense of freedom this evening?
11:29Yeah, definitely.
11:30He's got a lot to prove, hasn't he?
11:32But you're putting pressure on yourself to deliver as well?
11:35Yeah, 100%.
11:37There's been some dark moments in your career, in your life.
11:39How much would this mean this evening to be victorious?
11:42Oh, everything.
11:44If I could just win one more fight with this one.
11:48How would that change your life?
11:49Massively.
11:51We wish you all the best tonight Liam.
11:52Thank you, thank you.
11:56Fighting son of Birmingham at ringside,
11:58former UFC world welterweight champion Leon Edwards.
12:01And Kostas Simkas alongside Paul Smith who's got Shackham Pitters on his right hand side.
12:11He boxes for the European title against Brad Ray in the near future.
12:19So into the fourth round here and Egginton again just sets his feet and lets the combination go.
12:27He had a good third round and he's looking to build on it here.
12:30There's the jab again from Egginton and he's just, as we were saying, finding that distance.
12:45Cutler trying to get a right off to the body off the back of the lefty landed.
12:50There's that left hook from Cutler. I don't think it landed absolutely clean, but he did land to the body there.
13:00That's a good dig. Protects his own body well from an Egginton right, but then the left gets through upstairs.
13:10Uppercut from Cutler replied by a right hand from Egginton.
13:26Into round four and this is a tough, tough fight we thought it would be, but the round has been forced out.
13:36It's clawing and stuck. Left of the body again there from Cutler.
13:39He's staying on Egginton here. It's almost like he's just trying to walk through the fight here a bit.
13:44Strong right hand there though from Egginton.
13:46Yeah, I think Cutler using his physical strength effectively, he's pushing Sam back, he's staying lower than him.
13:52But I think Egginton's probably outlanding him with the clean shots on the inside.
13:56Like I say, he's creating room, he's getting good short little uppercuts on the inside, short left hooks.
14:05But again, as you say Cutler, they're just in with the shoulder, just trying to push him back, get on top of him, push him down.
14:11And Egginton is being made to work terrifically hard here, you can see that.
14:15A minute remaining in round four.
14:26Cutler stops in with the right hand, tries to chop down with the right hand.
14:30Yeah, it was a good shot, thought he was going to put the jab to the body and then come with the right hand over the top.
14:35But he just went straight with the right hand lead.
14:38Again, a good right hand there from Egginton.
14:41And then a left hook as well, but Cutler is still there, he's still coming forward.
14:46He's backing himself, I think to take what Egginton is going to catch him with on the way in to get to where he needs to be.
14:52To, as you say, bring that physicality to bear and just really take it out of the tank.
14:57Yeah, I think he's losing this round, I think Egginton's outlanding him, but in terms of pushing Egginton back, using his physical strength, kind of setting the pace that he wants.
15:08I think it's going in the way he wants it to.
15:11I think it's going in the way he wants it to.
15:15OK, back up!
15:21We can see you two results.
15:36What's this?
15:37Take off!
15:38Come on, we go back!
15:40Gimmie three deep breath, I'm up, limo!
15:44He's got an hour on himself, do you understand?
15:50Now, do me a favour.
15:51That's a Cutler corner, there's a bit of damage to the left eye there,
15:54appears that Ian John Boy Johnson is attending to.
16:00And that's what we got in that previous round.
16:02In the last two rounds, to be honest, they're on each other's shoulders,
16:05they're banging the shots in.
16:06Eton may well have won both of those rounds,
16:08so he's won a couple of battles,
16:10but Cutler's got his eye on the wall here, hasn't he?
16:13Yeah, and I think the pace, the range,
16:17I think he's happy with where it's at, Cutler,
16:19I think he probably feels he's dictating,
16:21maybe Sam's outlanded him in those couple of rounds,
16:24but I think he's happy with where the direction the fight's going in.
16:29Good right hand from Egginton.
16:31That's a solid shot, though, from Egginton.
16:33That damage to Cutler's eye doesn't look too bad.
16:37We're into the fifths now, so if anything got stopped
16:40due to the cut caused by an accidental clash of heads
16:43or any kind of accidental foul, we would go to the cards,
16:46but Kerry Cage has done a good job with the cut above Egginton's right eye,
16:51which comes as no surprise.
16:54Cutler just reaching with that right hand, too far out,
16:56needs to get closer with his feet, I think he needs to go upstairs with a jab,
16:59jab the body, step in, and then come over the top with the right hand.
17:05Maybe just trying to hit Egginton with lead right hand from too far out,
17:08he's not going to do it, and likewise for Egginton,
17:11just punching from a little bit too far out there,
17:13both guys need to get a little bit closer with their feet,
17:15maybe use the feints, bit of head moving on the way in,
17:18bit of trying to nick that little inch closer,
17:22then throw the shots.
17:24Well, they come together now, but the first minute or so of round five
17:28has been a little bit different to what we've seen the previous two rounds,
17:31they've stood off each other a little bit more and looked to try and land those jabs,
17:34Egginton got his through, Cutler dips his knee,
17:38swoops in with a long right hand into the body,
17:40Egginton with a 1-2, glancing blow with the right.
17:44Faint from Egginton, no reaction there from Cutler,
18:02just moves in,
18:04looks to try and remove him into the corner, Egginton doesn't allow it,
18:09flicks that jab up from the waist, right-hand lead.
18:18Interesting the way it's changed in this round, Matt,
18:20and they both seem to be happy with the way that it's changed.
18:24Yeah, I think they're probably boxing to instructions,
18:26I think both corners wanted to see more jabs,
18:29you know, still a good few rounds to go to just get into a war of attrition,
18:33and you've got to be careful that then once you've got into that,
18:36you can't really, it's very difficult then until he's back off that,
18:39so, yeah, he was standing close to fighting on the inside,
18:43but it wasn't a war of attrition yet,
18:46but I think once you go into that,
18:48very difficult then to pull out of it,
18:50so I think both sides just get it back on the jabs in.
18:52Good shots, good right-hand there from Egginton as he was backed off,
18:55I think Cutler landed one on the way in,
18:59and Egginton I think feels that he's made an impact there,
19:02made an impression,
19:03and he's looking to try and find some space,
19:05nice right-hand underneath that from Cutler,
19:07and goes up to Egginton just before that,
19:09landed a couple himself,
19:11and that really caught fire towards the end of the fifth,
19:15they stood off each other and look to find the target from range before that,
19:19then right at the end,
19:21they went back to what we've seen the previous couple of rounds.
19:25Sam, I want another round like that.
19:27Also, I think he's getting tired.
19:29What do you think?
19:31Yes.
19:32So we've got to keep him missing, Sam,
19:34and the way to Cutler,
19:35put your hands up,
19:37walk in with your head moving,
19:39and just spray the first base and rip it downstairs.
19:42This kid's trying to kill the clock.
19:44Two big right hands there,
19:46Egginton just timed him on the way,
19:48walked him onto it and then landed another one.
19:50You know, credit to Cutler, he took it well.
20:07So into the second half of the fight,
20:09the schedule for 10,
20:10Egginton much the more experienced of the two
20:12when it comes to completing the 10th round distance.
20:15Cutler has done it himself, though.
20:20on a number of occasions,
20:22and he went through the fires against Stephen McKenna.
20:25In terms of the scoring,
20:28well, I can see that.
20:31I could see a few other scores as well, though,
20:34to be honest, Matt.
20:35There's not been much between these two at all.
20:38I think Egginton's...
20:39I've got Egginton ahead.
20:40I think he's...
20:42That card, I wouldn't disagree with that.
20:44But I also agree with you, it could be closer.
20:47There wasn't much in that previous round,
20:56but that right hand from Egginton at the end
20:59could have been enough to separate them.
21:01Egginton again, crafty there.
21:03I think Cutler thought the referee was going to call break,
21:06but he didn't.
21:07Egginton knew that and got the punch off.
21:09It's up close and personal again in round six.
21:27Egginton just shutting down his own space slightly with the right hand there,
21:33a tangle of limbs on the inside, quite untidy.
21:37Egginton's landed some hard shots cleanly on Cutler,
21:42but they haven't really...
21:43They don't look like they've shaken Cutler at all.
21:46They've registered, but they haven't shaken him.
21:48He's taken them well.
21:50You know, still stepping forward, still taking the fight to Egginton.
21:55And I think that's what he needs to do, because he was having success doing it.
22:04He was being landed on, but it did look like he was taking some gas out of the tank of Egginton,
22:12who was having to work very hard.
22:14But Egginton is one of these fighters who can tend to look quite knackered after a couple of rounds,
22:18and then just stays looking the same for the rest of the fight.
22:21Yeah, he is like that, Sam.
22:23He shows the emotion, he can look tired, but he can...
22:28Oh, good shot for Cutler.
22:30Bit of damage, a bit more damage on that left eye of Cutler, I think.
22:34Maybe just below the eye this time, you can see the blood coming,
22:37and there's a clash of heads there, a grimace from Egginton.
22:41And Mark Bates is going to have a word with the pair of them.
22:48Which is the right thing to do, because I wouldn't say that either one of them is...
22:53more sinned against the sinning here.
22:55No, the heads just came together, didn't they?
22:57There was no malice from either guy.
23:11Final ten seconds, right hand there from Egginton.
23:13Cutler there with a good combination.
23:15Yeah, Cutler landed at two good right hands there.
23:20Okay, let's go down ringside. Andy is with Shaqan Fitters.
23:26Shaqan, you obviously share a gym, and you know Sam better than most.
23:29How are you seeing this one so far?
23:30It's a close fight at the moment. I've got Sam up at the moment.
23:33I think his experience is showing coming into the later rounds.
23:36You know, Cutler's still game, of course.
23:38Dangerous opponent, but I see Sam holding the centre well and mixing his punches up well.
23:42How important in a fight like this is career experience?
23:45Sam has been around the block. I don't know. Lost count of how many times?
23:48I don't know. It's very important.
23:50You can't buy experience the same in boxing.
23:52And I think in times like this, it shows as the later rounds go on.
23:56But like I said, Lee's still in there, but Sam's definitely showing his experience
23:59and his ring generalship right now, and he's landing some big shots.
24:02I know Sam thought it would be cat and mouse. Can you quite believe that he had it so wrong?
24:06They're quite happy to stand in front of each other.
24:08Yeah, their styles are gelling, man. They're both meeting fire with fire.
24:11But this is what the fans have come out for and why they're both two exciting fighters.
24:16So it's good to see.
24:17And I know you're back soon. Best of luck in your upcoming fight against Brad Ray.
24:20Thank you. Thanks very much, man. Definitely. Thank you.
24:23So into the seventh, Eggington.
24:26Speaking of experience, taking every single second on the stool there,
24:30just sucking the air in, letting Kerry Kayes just do some more work on that cut.
24:37Four rounds to go here. Nice double jab there from Eggington.
24:45I wonder how the Cutler Corner are seeing the fight, what they think the scores are,
24:49because, you know, after this round, we're into kind of the final three.
24:55You know, they may need to go after the fight,
24:57unless they feel like it's in the balance or they're ahead,
25:00but certainly you'll be looking for the fresher of the two,
25:05which is Cutler to really put a finish, a strong finish on.
25:11Agreed. I think that is what he's going to need to do.
25:16He looks capable of it.
25:18He's in with somebody who's so experienced in going the distance,
25:21somebody who knows how to dig in and just get things done, but...
25:27There is some freshness about Cutler, there's some facial damage there,
25:31but there's always going to be in a hard fight.
25:34He needs a right hand there from Cutler, turned that one over,
25:40I don't think it landed absolutely clean.
25:43I get to just try to flick that jab.
25:46Cutler just using his physical strength there.
26:01It's not fair.
26:02And that's what Cutler needs to do more of.
26:07He needs to be physical, he needs to kind of use his advantage in youth here,
26:12use that, you know, try and push, bully Sam up close at distance,
26:17then, you know, really kind of up the pace here.
26:20A minute to go in this round, there's not a great deal in this one.
26:28And it's the kind of round where you feel like Cutler needs to finish strong in this round and win this.
26:33Eggington just loses his balance there, falls forward.
26:36No knockdown, referee Mark Bates will just wipe off the gloves,
26:39Cutler is quickly back to the centre of the ring.
26:55Single right hand into the body there from Cutler, jab back from Eggington.
27:02If I was in Cutler's corner now, I'd be saying you've really got to turn up the heat here,
27:05you've got to really keep this pace on Eggington, make him feel.
27:10You know, he's 31 years old and he's had a lot of hard buzz.
27:13You've got to really put it on him, make him go to the well.
27:35Great round, dude.
27:37Total concentration, you're going to get another two like that, right?
27:40As this reaches the closing stages, meanwhile, backstage,
27:47final preparations for Ben Whittaker.
27:51We talked about it being a long six months for Fraser Clarke,
27:54it's been a very long six months for Ben Whittaker.
27:57He disappeared from view, stopped giving interviews, his social channels went dark.
28:08The backlash after what happened in Saudi Arabia was severe.
28:15And I think it took him by surprise, and there's only one thing to do now if you're him,
28:24and that is set that record straight tonight.
28:30So three to go here.
28:32Sam Eggington in the silver, Lee Cutler in the black.
28:37Both just looking for jabs.
28:56In this round, and that's how it's been the last couple of rounds.
29:01It's been an interesting kind of fight.
29:03At times, they've got up close, tight, looked to work on the inside.
29:08At times, it looked like it might turn into that grueler.
29:11At the end of the fourth, I think if the fifth had gone that way as well,
29:14then we're in that territory.
29:15And as you said, Matt, once you're there, you can't really come back.
29:18But they both just kind of pulled back from it a little bit,
29:21and it's never quite got there.
29:23And I feel like, of the two, that has suited Eggington a little bit better.
29:28We know how much experience he's got in wars,
29:31but I think if Cutler had forced the issue more,
29:34it would have suited him better.
29:36Yeah, because, you know, even though he has got the experience in wars, Sam,
29:39he's been to the well a lot more than him.
29:41And there is only so many times you can keep going there,
29:43and if I was the younger man in Cutler,
29:46I'd want to gamble and back my youth in a fight like that.
29:51Cutler doing some good work in the last 20 seconds or so.
29:54I think there's a cut that's opened up on the left eye now of Eggington.
29:57Eggington just trying to keep a hold of him and walk him around the ring,
30:00maybe steal a little bit of a rest.
30:03And I think that cut was opened up by that right hand of Cutler's.
30:07Good job there from Eggington.
30:09But Cutler did some good work.
30:12And again, needs to finish the round strong here.
30:15We don't know how this is being scored.
30:17We've got three scoring judges are inside.
30:22There's the cards that count.
30:28Good single right hand there from Cutler.
30:30Left on the inside from Eggington.
30:32Yeah, good work from Eggington on the inside.
30:34Just a nice short uppercut left-hilt combination.
30:37And again, the heads, I think, came together there,
30:40and there's a bit more damage, I think,
30:42maybe below the right eye now of Eggington,
30:44and he's got problems with both of those eyes.
30:48Cutler just telegraphing a little bit, punching too far out.
30:50He's got to be a bit sneaky, he's got to use some feints,
30:52some head movement, edge closer with his feet,
30:55then maybe feint the head, feint the jab, the body,
30:58and then come in with the right hand.
31:00At the minute, he's throwing the right hand from too far out,
31:03he's loading it up, you can see it coming,
31:05Eggington can see it, he's reading him.
31:09Cutler's got to dress it up.
31:11Feints, double jab, jab head, buddy.
31:17Wrong right hand to the body there from Cutler,
31:18I feel like he may have done enough to win that round though.
31:21A couple to go.
31:28You've warned him more.
31:31You've warned him more.
31:32Sam, he might be getting the doctor in,
31:35so we need the rounds.
31:36Just be busy with your hands,
31:38keep your head moving, busy hands.
31:39Head moving, busy hands.
31:40Do you understand, Sam? It's that close.
31:42Your both eyes closed.
31:44Sam, it's that close,
31:46so if he gets the doctor in a minute in,
31:49he goes to the scorecards on that round as well.
31:51So fast hands, head movement.
31:53Sam, lift it now.
31:54Lift it, find it.
31:55Lift yourself up.
31:56Do you understand, Sam?
31:57Sam, every minute counts now.
32:00Lift yourself up.
32:01Get sharp.
32:02Get nasty.
32:03Sam, find it.
32:04Am I getting through to you?
32:06Sam, find it.
32:08Sharp, let's find it.
32:09Come on.
32:10Find it, Sam.
32:12Sharp and fast.
32:13Find it.
32:14Fucking find it.
32:15All right.
32:16Apologies for the language right at the end there,
32:18but you can understand it from John Pegg.
32:20He reads the fight well and he knows the rules.
32:23The doctor is being brought in here and the doctor will have a look.
32:28And if this cut finishes the fight and it's been caused by a clash of heads,
32:35then we will go to the cards.
32:38If it's been caused by a punch, then of course Luke Cutler will win.
32:43And I think he's telling the corners that it's going to go to the cards here, Mark Bates.
32:49He's just gestured to us and it's going to the scorecards.
32:52So we know that that damage was caused by a clash of heads, an accidental foul.
32:58We've had a few cuts and we will go to the cards.
33:02Eight rounds.
33:03Ed completed rounds.
33:05And it is close.
33:06It is close.
33:08There's not been much in some of those rounds.
33:10We felt like Egginton was probably ahead at halfway.
33:12I felt like Cutler won that eighth round we've just seen.
33:15There's not a lot in it.
33:17There is not a lot in it at all.
33:20I do feel like the early finish here, although it's totally legit because it's on the advice of the doctor,
33:26suits Egginton more than it does Cutler.
33:29I agree.
33:30I agree.
33:31I think that, like you say, it's close.
33:34I think Sam may have his nose up front here, but in terms of where the fight was going,
33:40I thought Cutler looked the fresher of the two with two rounds to go.
33:44Well, you've got it a draw at home.
33:46You've got a couple of 10-10 rounds in there.
33:48I understand that.
33:49Egginton does look a little bit confused as to what the...
33:52It's close, isn't it?
33:53This could go by the way here.
33:54I mean, look, the viewers had it at 77-77.
33:56It could be a round either way, but it's definitely close.
33:58But I think in terms of who looked like they had four left,
34:01Cutler looked the fresher of the two, I thought, at that point.
34:04Agreed.
34:05Agreed.
34:06It is absolutely in the balance.
34:09John Pegg was very clear with him in the minute between rounds.
34:13He's going to get the doctor in.
34:15And if he gets the doctor in, then it may well see the end of the fight.
34:20If he gets him in after a minute, then the incomplete round will be scored.
34:23So he's really on top of that there, John Pegg.
34:27And there's a lot of conversation going on between the referee
34:31and the stewards down at ringside.
34:34But the equation is quite straight forward here.
34:38The fight has been stopped due to a cut caused by an accidental clash of heads.
34:43We're beyond the completion of four rounds.
34:45So we go to the scorecards.
34:47And we have eight completed rounds to be scored.
34:50It's a WBC title and things could get a bit interesting with them
34:54because a round in WBC boxing is constituted by the three minutes of action
34:58and the minutes rest at the end of the round.
35:01So sometimes you hear the bell go at the end of the minute,
35:04and the fight is over.
35:06But they need to ring that bell to complete that four minutes,
35:09which signals the start of the next round.
35:11And you can have situations where literally one second or no seconds is scored.
35:17But it's not really scored because all the judges will give it a draw.
35:25And the two fighters just having a conversation.
35:28Nobody is sure here.
35:30Nobody in the entire arena is sure.
35:32Nobody watching at home is sure.
35:34And maybe they're going to need to run this back, Matt,
35:36because we were robbed of the last couple of rounds there, to be honest with you.
35:40Yeah, I think whichever way it goes here, I think they'll probably have to do it again
35:45because it won't be a kind of fair or conclusive finish.
35:48It was a very close fight and it stopped because of a cut that was caused by a clash of heads.
35:55So I think whatever happens here, whichever way this fight goes, I think the fair outcome is to do it again.
36:03Well, that cut is caused by a punch there.
36:06You can see that it was caused by a punch.
36:10Absolutely no question about it.
36:12Yeah, that one is.
36:13So it was the fight stuck on that cut.
36:15It can't have been either the referees decided that that cut was caused by a clash of heads,
36:20but he's got a really good view there, Mark Bates.
36:22So you could open up a cut with a punch, but then if a head clash makes it a lot worse
36:28and that causes the doctor to stop it, then that worsening being caused by the head clash,
36:33that would be the crucial factor.
36:35And therefore it would be an active end or foul.
36:37And we've got what we've got.
36:38So you feel like the referee can't miss that because he was in a really, really good position.
36:42So we are going to go to the cards and he made that motion to everybody at ringside,
36:46including us, which was very helpful pretty much immediately.
36:50Big Mo has got the sheet of paper in his hands.
36:52But that was the first cut, wasn't it, that he signalled there was a clash of heads.
36:55I didn't hear, I didn't see him signal after the second one.
37:03Well, we're going to the cards and that is indicative of the fact that it was an accidental foul.
37:10Okay, here we go.
37:12Ladies and gentlemen, referee Mark Bates calls a stop to this contest at the start of the ninth round due to a doctor stoppage.
37:27And since this belt made it past the bell to start the fifth round, we go to the judges scorecards and we'll count the ninth round as the bell rang.
37:36So on the scorecards, Judge Kevin Parker sees it 87 to 85.
37:41Judge Alexander Walter sees it 90 to 83.
37:44And Judge Bella Florian sees it 87 to 85.
37:48Declaring your winner by unanimous decision.
37:53And the new WBC International Silver Super World Touring Champion, Sam the Savage Egginton.
38:08So Sam Egginton gets it by a couple of points on two of the cards that ninth round as I outlined it that was started was scored but they would all have been 10-10.
38:20So it's 77, 75 twice essentially.
38:23And then a wider card with the other judge which I didn't really see.
38:29It's disappointing that.
38:30It is very disappointing for Cutler.
38:33He'll feel like he was coming on fresher towards the end but Egginton did enough to win it through those eight rounds.
38:40And I wouldn't argue with that.
38:42No, no, I...
