Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 9 wickets in IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium at Mumbai on April 21. Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bat first. In a batting friendly pitch, Hardik Pandya's team opted to bowl first. Ashwani Kumar (1/42) scalped the wicket of Rachin Ravindra (5) early. Debutant Ayush Mhatre counter-attacked and his 32 off 15 deliveries helped Super Kings to get a steady start. After Deepak Chahar dismissed Mhatre and Mitchell Santner dismissed Shaik Rasheed (19 off 20), Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja came together on the crease. Dube (50) and Jadeja (53*) scored half-century and provided a strong finish to take the score to a competitive 176/5. Jasprit Bumrah (2/24) controlled the middle and the death overs for the Indians. Chasing it, Mumbai Indians were dominant from the very beginning. After a long time, Rohit Sharma looked in touch and he smashed a 45-ball 76* to set up the chase. He was well supported by Ryan Rickelton (24). After Rickelton was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav came to the crease and played a whirlwind knock of 68* off 30 balls and took Mumbai Indians over the winning line. This is the fourth victory for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 and sixth loss for Chennai Super Kings.
