00:00how to play uno 1994 rules hey you can't just keep stacking draw two cards you screamed on
00:13your friend well today it might be true but what if you were in 1990s upon peeking behind the
00:20curtains of history uno is evolved a bit are you ready to know how it has changed let's dive in
00:28the motive of uno is to be the first one to get rid of all the cards and in a point system game to
00:35secure 500 points first unlike today's deck that contains a total of 112 cards back in 1994 the uno
00:43deck only had 108 cards 76 number cards 19 of each color red blue green and yellow 24 action cards
00:52eight reverse eight skip and eight draw two cards each category had two cards of each color eight
00:59wild cards with four basic wild cards and four draw four wild cards so this deck didn't have
01:06customizable cards and one shuffle hands card moving towards the 1994 rules of uno all the
01:15players together choose a dealer who shuffles a card and assigns seven cards to each player
01:20he make a draw pile with the remaining cards all facing down one card is picked to make a discard pile
01:38and the game officially starts in a clockwise direction there is a slight variation in the 1994
01:44version back then you were allowed to start the game with action cards but today you aren't and
01:50like the current rules you can't start with the draw four wild card instead you need to put it back to
01:56the center of the draw pile in 1994 the rules were generally the same when you start a game and have a
02:02number card as the first card or during the game card you just need to match any attribute of the card
02:08it can be color or number when you have a skip card as the first card the player left to the
02:14dealer misses the turn and if you get it during the game then the next person will miss the turn
02:19when you have a reverse card at the starting the dealer plays first and during the game the direction
02:26of the play is reversed a draw two card in the beginning means the player left to the dealer
02:32loses his turn and draws two cards and during the game the next person will have to draw two cards
02:38according to the 1994 rules there isn't much clarification about stacking so yeah no mercy
02:46for the opponents you could stack a draw two over draw two to make your mate infinitely furious who
02:52does not have a draw two card during the game the vial basic card means you can play it on any card
02:58and you choose a color to proceed in the starting the player left to the dealer chooses the color and
03:04place first you can't use a draw four vialed card as the first card and if you play during the game
03:11the player next to you can either draw four cards and skip his turn or can challenge you as you can
03:18only play this when you don't have any other playable card in the case of challenge you need to show all
03:24of your cards if you play legally the player who challenge you will draw two more cards making a
03:30total of six and if you played illegally then you need to take your draw four vialed card back
03:36and need to draw four cards as punishment and then you will play your playable card in the case of
03:42matching card you can play it in the case of non-matching card draw one card from the draw pile
03:48and if it got matched you can play it or not it's up to you but if it does not match your turn is
03:55simply skipped uno yelling and of course we have our classical uno yelling rule like the current rule
04:04we have the same rules in 1994 if you are left with one card you must yell uno beware if someone
04:12else notices that you didn't say it after playing your penultimate card you need to draw two cards
04:17the point system after one round when one player gets rid of all the cards the numbers are assigned
04:25for him based on the points of the cards in the opponent's hand the number cards have the face
04:30value the action cards have 20 points and the vial cards have 50 points winner of the game will be the
04:36one with 500 or more points well this is kind of more rigid and unlike the current rules where you can
04:43set your own specified values if a round ends and any player does not have 500 points then they start
04:50another round with the person who got all the cards as a dealer penalty for making suggestions
04:57according to the 1994 rules if you make a suggestion to any other player you need to draw four cards as
05:04penalty illegal trading it's also illegal to trade cards of any sort with any other player
05:12now you have the idea what it felt like to play uno in 1994 though the game rules are mostly the same
05:20there are still few differences be it any year uno was and will always be fun keep exploring
